For those who seem to not know what the ??? type Arceus is, there's a sprite in the game's coding for a ??? type Arceus (you know, the ??? type like Curse?), but I'm pretty sure there's no plate to match.

I think you just read it wrong you mean the psychic plate that you find in the unknown cave has to be there is only a plate per type so there can't be a ??? type plate or id there?

There is a ??? type Arceus sprite, but there is no plate to make it that type.

That's the Mind Plate (aka Psychic Plate).
But even though there is a ??? sprite for Arceus, you can't get it. (Hm, I wonder what the ??? weaknesses and resistances are. *goes to teach Porygon Conversion 2)

Arceus doesn't have a ??? type. It is normal type if it doesn't have a plate as an item.

Legitimately seeing an Unknown or ??? Type Arceus is impossible, but the programming that determines its types must not differentiate ??? from real Pokemon types. It probably required an Action Replay or something to obtain that sprite.

If you only meant seeing it in-game, then you are correct, since no plate would be around to shift Arceus from Normal to ???.

I don't think this ??? plate exists. It seems fake. If there IS it probably has no weakness, resistance, or strength. Or it could be weak to normal. Those guys deserve to be strong for once!

Hmmm that is very interesting, I remember seeing the Picdex before but do not recall seeing an Unknown Type which makes me wonder if it is new. If it were a plate, it may be something thats been released with the pokemon, what I am saying is when they do release Arceus he may get a Special Plate just like Palkia and Dialga get their own orbs.

It may become like chanseys and lucky eggs. Once they start distributing legitimate arceuses, one in every thousand or so may have the ??? plate.

EDIT: Man, imagine what you could get for a shiny arceus, with a good nature, and a ??? plate.

i read that even if it shows arceus as uknown type(???), there are only 16 out of the 18 types that have plates, and those who don't are normal and uknown. this information is on psypoke and that should answer your question.

as of now, no. and there probally won't be. nintendo would't create an event for a game that has already been launched or for an item. if there was such an event, we would know.

Well no one knew when the Darkrai event was going to be until they told everyone that is was coming out with the movie. I am sure they will have an Event for it, making a pokemon for absolutely NO REASON is just retarted and Nintendo wouldn't allow it.
