There's something strange about the names of the legendary birds.
Artic uno,
Zap dos,
and Mol tres all have Spanish numbers on the end of their names. Uno is one, Dos is two and Tres is three.

I just looked when I sent out Articuno in Ruby. Oh yeah...
Artic is a play on Arctic. Molt= Molten or Molting feathers. And Zap? welll... you can see it.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but PixelTwist is right. More people know about the Spanish numerals behind the names than you think =x

Got that right. Once you think of where they got the names from, it's not that hard. For example:
"Hm, Articuno, that looks like 'arctic' there, but what's 'uno'? Oh, that's Spanish for 1!" etc.

BUT... why is Articuno 1 when it is not the best? Then again, Zapuno, Articdos.... AHH, snowball, lock this, please.

Uno, dos, tres being numerical, silly. Articuno is #144, Zapdos is #145, and Moltres #146. It's based on their Pokedex number.

Well Nintendo is infamous for putting supid puns in pkmn names. Like Typhlosion; a mix of typhoon and explosion. Or Magmar; Magma. But I think the worst name puns belong to the d/p fire starters; Chimchar, Monferno, Infernape.

There are also a few topics around (I think in Pokemon Center forum section) that speculates about Pokemon name meanings.
Anyway, I think this topic has served its purpose. If anyone needs this topic re-opened, approach a moderator.
