I dunno why, but I really like Octillery. It has a lot of options available to it... sure, it's a little slow, but with a decent Special Attack, and possibly being Baton-Passed some Agility, it could be nasty. Charge Beam, Ice Beam, Surf, and Energy Ball is what I'm packing on my Suction Cup Octillery at the moment, and he's doing rather well; and can survive a turn or two, getting some HP back with a Shell Bell.

Another option is with the Sniper trait: Focus Energy, with Charge Beam, Ice Beam, and Surf.

I'm looking at Omastar myself. The Rock/Water combo negates Lightning advantage, leaving the less-used grass type as one of the only major banes. Also, a high defense is helpful because high attack pokemon are more common than high spec. attack ones. Also, I can see a Rock Slide, Hydro Pump, and Blizzard taking out a large chunk of enemy pokemon.

I have a new favorite water type in Manaphy. I can't wait to get one, his Hydration / Rain-Rest possibilities make it the perfect tank, with great move possibilites to balance it out:

Manaphy @ Damp Rock
Rain Dance
Rest
Surf
Ice Beam

*mouth waters, no pun intended*

Gyarados - Dragon Dancing Destroyer
Starmie - My favorite Spec. Sweeper with Water pokemon...but allot water type pokes are good spec sweepers.

Palkia is very good...Kingdra as well. Manaphy as well. Kyogre and Palkia dont really count because they're legendaries. My Palkia right now cann really lay down the woop a...

Well I love water pokemon, has to be my favorite type, out of all the water pokemon, Starmie would be my highest recomendation seeing how the speed and special attack is great and the ability to learn thunder bolt is great, if not then I would go with Milotic seeing how it can have the ability of when it's health lowers to around 33% it's special defense goes up higher (or spec attack sorry I forgot) and with the ability to be a great supporter Pokemon in double battles.

No.
Electric does full damage to rock types. Electric is not effective against GROUND types. It's a difference.

Omastar has weakness to electric, grass (4x), fighting and ground.

Someone seems to be forgetting the most important Water Pokemon of all. No, not Suicune...Kyogre. Kyogre is probably the best Water types there is. It has great stats, can learn quite a lot of moves (out of Empoleon, Milotic, Manaphy, Suicune, and Kyogre, they have a lot of TMs in common). Kyogre has the highest SpAtk stat out of them, and with this moveset he's practically unstoppable:

Kyogre @ Nevermeltice
Water Spout/Surf
Ice Beam
Earthquake
Thunder

4 different types of moves, to pwn most types out there. Thunder is there so he can take advantage of his Drizzle, and Earthquake is for those pesky Electric types. Ice Beam is for the grass types. My Kyogre in LG has a Lonely nature, and because of that his Atk and SpAtk are almost identical. (Strangely enough, all of my Kyogre's SpDef are 2-3 points higher than their SpAtk...) But if you don't want to use a legendary (what is with people and legendaries that isn't liked...?) try one of the aforementioned suggestions (Omastar, Milotic, Manaphy, Suicune, Gyarados). Ultimately it is up to you.

yes yes, kyogre is great and who said they didn't like it? I personally do not like using legendaries out of the 400 non legendary pokemon not being used.

O rly? Shame. Still, it's hardly ever used and strikes me as an interesting water-type to experiment with, so I'll stick with it. Plus, I can own Lightning Types with my attacks anyway.

I liked Kyogre a LOT when I used it to defeat Elite Four in Sapphire - at level... 45? It was my main Elite-Four-killing pokemon, as my Skeptile and Aggron weren't strong enough. However, because of people who disapprove of legendaries, I didn't use it. I agree, though, that Kyogre is, if not the best, one of the best water-types out there.

Ah, you changed topic. Just as well. I'll deal with dragon.
Excluding legendaries, the best dragon-types commonly used are Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp, Flygon, Kingdra, and Altaria - and actually, those are the only non-legendary fully evolved dragon pokemon. I'd advise any except the last.

If you want something that can accept a few extra hits and deal a lot of damage, Dragonite. If you want something for a physical sweeper, take Salamence or Garchomp, depending on whether you prefer flying or ground or what moves you'd prefer. Kingdra is if you'd like a water/dragon type - it's powerful, with an above-average value for all stats, but nothing that it really focuses on. An all-around pokemon. And Altaria... it's nice, but nothing special. It's somewhat tanky, but not really. I wouldn't advise Altaria.

Flygon is an alternative to Garchomp as a dragon/ground type, but it has Levitate and is unaffected by ground type moves, making is an interesting pokemon to use in unison with a Gyardos to Earthquake your foe to death. It's individual stats are nothing magical, and I never honestly used this pokemon.

Salamence is a good choice - beware, however, as with most of these, ice moves. A well placed blizzard from an Omastar will leave you with nothing to cry over.

Hitmontop... I think it's good, though I never used it. Decent stats, and I think it can learn Earthquake and use it effectively. Semi-high attack, defense, and spec. defense, though relatively low speed and life and pathetic spec. attack. I'd advise something more orthadox, such as Lucario. It has higher stats, better resistances, etcetcetc.

but i really like kingdra, i dont know why. It doesnt have uber stats, but vgood overall and with rain dance it is as fast as any other pokes.

For the Dragon type:
I would say Giratina. Ghost/Dragon- quite an interesting combo for a Dragon. It's like a Medieval Dead Dragon.

For the Fightinf type:
I would say Infernape it's a good combo also Fire/Fighting. It's like a Very Angry Flaming Ape
