So, wait, is your question "Lugia vs Ho-Ho", or "Which would you rather have?".

I think that they are both equally as powerful and cool

i say {lugia} . ho-oh is too slow and its atk is high but it dont know any good physical moves in gsc. also its fire-flying type dont go too well with its low def

Lugia doesn't have too great of a moveset, though.

what about these good moves:
aeroblast
psychic
recover
hydro pump
earthquake
iron tail
return
thunder
blizzard
surf
ice beam
thunderbolt
toxic
rest
shadow ball
and more ...

More then 3/4 of those are moves learned through TMs. Any decent pokemon can learn great moves through TMs. Aeroblast is an awesome move, though.

I'd have to say both. I love Ho-oh because it looks awesome (I love the Japanese Phoenix. Ho-oh is actually Hou-hou or something like that in Japan, which means "Phoenix-Phoenix.)

Lugia is completely insanely powerful. Throw Aeroblast in there, and he's great for battle.

So yeah...Ho-oh for novelty, Lugia for battle.

I picked Lugia for gracefulness and power. Aeroblast is good, but in GSC he can't learn it unless you traded him to Pokemon Staduim 2. (Which really ticked me off because I gave away my N64...).

actureally he can,in sliver he has it,Xaliaphous.

i know for i own now both versions and i know for a fact on sliver lugia knows aeroblast. u must have ether sliver or cystal.

He won't learn it at level 77, 88, etc. In Crystal. He learns it at level 1. o_0 That's awfull stupid.
"Whee! Look at the baby Lugia!"
*uses Aeroblast*

every time i get him on sliver he knows it. huh? then i don't know then.

i think this is the move set for him and i think he is at level 45,can't remember

gust
aeroblast
recover
psysic

ain't sure, haven't caught lugia in a long time.

Overall i would have to say ho-ho cuz i dunno.

depends really.
If u have gold version i'd recomend lugia since u catch it at lvl 70.
but i think u catch ho-oh in silver at lvl 70(not sure)
Depends which you prefer and/or which one you think would be better in battle.
I'd say lugia is best.

It all depends on your preference. Ho-oh is almost exclusively a special sweeper, while Lugia can go both ways.

Well if it's a contest between the two, probably Lugia, but if it's a choice between teh two on your team, I'd pick ho-oh.

i prefer ho-oh to lugia, as ho-oh has great all-around stats, and can use sunnybeam.

Well I do like both, but Lugia has better stats so I'd have to say him.

They learn their special moves at lvl 1 so Ho-Oh with Sacred Fire is only possible in Gold Version. I battled it, ran out of Ultra Balls (about 6), ran away (hoping I'd find him somewhere else), then saved my game. Then months later I realized you never find him again. To this day I kick myself and say, "What an idiot." I traded my Ho-Oh from Crystal (soon to be restarted) but Crystal versions are awful.

Also in FRLG they learn special moves at lvl 77 so everyone can get them! Hooray!

I have always lost to my brother's Lugia with my Ho-oh, mainly because it can learn water moves and is faster than Ho-oh. But I have always preferred Ho-oh, because it's the only legendary pokemon I have ever caught without the use of the master ball. I made up for it's fire by teaching it steel wing to go with it's high attack, then fly to get around. Man, I loved that bird.

I say Ho-oh is better in GSC. Ho-oh had many moves it could learn while Lugia didn't get much.

I like both of them, but as I was felled from the 10th anniversery last Summer by a Lugia, I'm not sure which one I prefer.

I'm a fan of ho-oh - he looks like a pheonix, which is closer to a real thing than lugia. Also, if Iam correct, I do believe that ho-oh was thought of first because in the very first episode of Pokemon, Ash sees ho-oh fly across the rainbow and wonders in awe which pokemon it is. Ho-oh just seems more special in the eyes of Pokemon.
