Hey guys, has anybody else out there managed to get every card of an entire set? My goal of the last month or two has been to inventory exactly what I had and then to fill in any holes that I had previously credited as "owned" due to reprints, etc. As of June 27, 2012, my set completions look like:

Can I ask, how much have you spent on these collections in total? I'm trying to complete the first generation sets and so far I have;

Base 1 - 58/102 (mainly trainer cards to get as I have none for this set)
Jungle - 49/64
Fossil - 41/62
Base 2 - I need ALOT for this set so won'y even count them up
Team Rocket - 83/82 (Complete)
Gym Heros - 0/132 (None)
Gym Challenge - 1/132

Also what do you mean by "vending series"?

I really don't know how much I've spent, although I'm pretty sure it's under five digits. I had a few cards back in the day but most of my collection has been pieced together across the last three years, starting when I got back into the TCG in 2009. I didn't have a job until last September, so a lot of those cards were bought with birthday and Christmas money and the like; I think I have a pretty sharp eye for bargains, and I always compare prices and keep an eye on eBay like a hawk, so most of the time I can get really good deals on cards I want. Mostly the expensive cards were holos during the WOTC era and all of the super rare cards during Nintendo's run. Most commons, uncommons, non-holo rares and even more recent holos are pretty easy to get for low prices on cards that sell singles.

The Vending series are three smaller sets of cards that were only released in Japan in the late 90's, although a few of them were released in English as Wizards Promos and a couple of Trainers were in the Gym Challenge English set. Its name comes from how the cards were obtained in Japan - they were purchased as sheets of three or four cards from vending machines in Japan. It wasn't a very practical idea to bring to America, so Wizards didn't bother bringing those sets over.

Awesome. I recently found my old cards and am now collecting again. I need a lot of base 2 cards though. I am going to focus on getting one generation at a time
