Although a petition already exists, I've decided to create a poll for Psypoke. This is called Psypokians For Misty's Return (or P.F.M.R.). Vote weather to bring her back or to leave her in her gym.

Misty flat out sucks.

I was so happy her ass got kicked off the show. I liked her in the beginning (all the characters really worked well off each other in Kanto), but by Johto she REALLY needed to go. May has actually been used for something other than "Romantic Female Lead #1/Puller of Brock's Ear." They've given her more character development in two years than Misty got in five. She doesn't carry around a demonic egg baby. Three strikes, Misty's out.

The writers just decided to let Misty get stale and pointless after the group went to Johto. She was a one joke horse, that joke being pulling Brock's ear when he got horny, and she beat that horse to death. I didn't care about anything she did; she whined about a Corsola, she got a Corsola. Who cared? She chewed out random Trainers of the Day for insulting her. I didn't care, actually I found her annoying. She got a Politoed. Nice Pokemon, but I still don't care. She had an overly melodramatic exit and left to take over the Gym. And guess what? I didn't care.

But guess what? I HAVE cared about the things May's done. The writers have made me care. Misty wasn't against Pokemon when she started, hell, we didn't even get to see what Misty was like when she started training Pokemon. We've gotten to see May since the beginning, watching her mature from a silly girl who couldn't get her Torchic to use a Peck attack to a competent trainer that could tell her Wurmple from Jesse's Wurmple. Misty never had such character driven episodes like "True Blue Swablu," that really touched me. I really don't remember any strong Misty moments; she got a few battle episodes, but she was little more than a sidekick that liked to scream a lot. May is a main character.

Let's put it this way, using the five characters the show started with. Ash (and Pikachu) are the most popular characters among younger fans. Pikachu especially is not going anywhere. Team Rocket (and Meowth) are the most popular characters amongst older fans; they're somewhat stale, but if they were going to be taken off of the show, the writers would have chosen to do soon after Ash went to region that didn't have Team Rocket within it in any capacity. Plus they still provide a lot of the comic relief/plot devices for the show, so they're needed. So, Ash and Team Rocket are all safe.

After the Indigo Plateau, the writers took Brock off of the show. Fans were FURIOUS, even more so that he was replaced with TRACEY. They demanded Brock be brought back, and the writers listened. The remaining member of the Big Five, Misty left, the fans haven't reacted as strongly to her departure, and the writers have not brought her back permanently yet; she's made only two appearances in the standard show. By now May is one of the most popular characters on the show. They're NOT going to take her off now, and with May around there's no place or need for Misty.

The show has actually improved a LOT since Misty left and May joined. And judging by a certain capture May has made in future episodes, it looks like she's staying and Misty's not coming back; she can stay gone as far as I'm concerned.

Frost pretty much summed it up, there is a very slim chance of Misty making it back to the anime as a main character. (also nice article Frost)

I now! she's missing luvdisk...lol..... (oh wait...she does have luvdisk?)

yeah maybe max sould dissapear, he isn't doing anything, simply replace ear pulling brock job, misty was more funny when she did it (much alike Martin Mystery, when Diana gets so p*ssed of...lol).....but i still love MAY, she's more childlike (well...she's still 10 right?)

wait then that means ash is around 15 years old.......<(O.o)>

oh well, i was so happy on that Princess and the Togepi and A Togepi Miracle.....everyone at my school was hoping for Misty to return, and now she haves my fave Water Pokemon....Gyarados....boo-hoo, i reject what i said, I miss her....Max isn't good at pulling Brock of of girls......    Bring misty back, F***ing pokemon....please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....well she should have a bigger character if she comes back....ash cried when she left him.....poor ashy......oh welll.................................

acctually, Ash shouldn't be 15, because he turnned 11 in the mini movie for Pokemon 3 the movie, Spell of the Unown, so right now he would be at most 12 years old, I just wish that Ash would stop releasing his pokemon, I mean come on, he wants to become a pokemon master doesn't he, he needs to catch every wild pokemon he meets, and be more like Gary before he left the show to become a professor (which they shouldn't have made him do, because now Ash doesn't have a serious rival), and I did like Team Rocket in the beginning, but now they are just getting annoying, but so far the most tear renching episode for me was when Jessie and James released Arbok and Weezing, which they have had since before the series even began, but sure they were weak, but if they had just trained on weaker trainers, or wild pokemon, as well as catch some pokmon native to Team Rocket, like Rattatas, Raticates, Grimers, Muks, Zubats, Golbats, and Crobats, then Weezing and Arbok and any other pokemon they had, or if they would atleast evolve Cacnea and get their hands on an Exploud without stealing it, would be some pretty good pokemon, and might acctually stand a chance against Ash.

No he didn't. He and Pikachu were just celebrating an anniversary. It clearly states in "Battle of the Badge," that it was a year from the time Ash and Misty left Virdian City to the time Ash, Misty, and Brock returned. Ash would have been 11 then, not sometime during Johto, so that was a continunity/translation error if anything. Each series took place in the year they aired, there's nothing to contradict this. May is ten in Pokemon Advanced and Ash is clearly not 10 anymore. Brock is clearly a few years older than Ash because we get to see Brock at 10 and he looks a lot younger than he does in the beginning of the show. Misty's a bit harder to predict, but she's around Ash's age, I like to estimate her to be 12 at the beginning of the series but that's just speculation. Jesse said she was 17 but we're not sure if she was being sincere, plus there's just no way Musashi could be that young in the Japanese version. Whatever Jesse/Musashi's real age is, it's pretty safe to assume James is around the same age. Max is obviously younger than 10, probably 7 or 8.

Neither Misty or May should deserve the horrible fate of engaging with Ash.... However, Misty rocks a lot, she's the coolest female trainer in the series!

misty needs to come back, the show isnt the same without her, (may only has good looks and torchic) misty has the same things may has (except replace torchic with the much cooler gyrados) and she is smarter, more mature, funnier and she keeps brock in line... why hasnt brock (or ash for that matter) gone nuts over her?

i guess i like both May and Misty, neither are awful characters, and both had some interesting episodes. i think the reasons they took misty off the show were:

1- so at the big goodbye sequence it could be blatantly revealed that ash and misty like each other (even though everyone already knew that after the first sort of 3 episodes they would end up like that.)

2- after about 100 episodes misty was starting to get a bit crusty around the edges, there was nothing left about her character to reveal and a new more interesting persona was needed to keep the anime fresh. this is the same reason they ditched brock for tracy(which worked horribly due to the fact that tracys entire personality was built around his drawing obsession)

3- After the episode "gotta catch ya later" everyone knew for sure what was going on with ash and misty, and if misty ever came back the fans would all expect "something" to happen. but remember that this is a "G"rated show aimed mostly at kiddys about 12 years old, so such connotations of s*x or even kissing would be instantly condemed by the censors.

Despite Johto being horribly long and dragged out, it actually did serve as a part of the series where Misty and Brock were productive with training their Pokemon. Brock had the same four Pokemon since episode 30 when Johto started, but he slowly worked up to getting a Crobat and Forretress. Misty started Johto with total crap but managed to finish with Politoed and Corsola under her belt.

Misty has been much more of a threat since she went back to being a Gym Leader, because she got her Starmie back and she picked up a Gyarados as well. I guess it's the curse of travelling with the series' star because you're hardly going to be focused on in a battling sense. I can name maybe three or four battles Brock has had in the entire show, so I'm not really surprised that his Geodude never evolved, and Onix could have easily evolved considering Misty's Poliwhirl didn't need to be traded.

Anyway, in a more on-topic sense, neither side really need each other anymore. Misty has gotten to be a much better trainer since she went home, and she could have easily stuck around at the Togepi Festival if she really wanted to travel with Ash again, which doesn't sound like the funnest thing in the world. You travel around the entire world by foot, you get lost about fifty different times walking to just ONE town, you get stuck up in mountains in your baby tee and short shorts, you get attacked by a couple of weird villians on a daily basis, and all just so Ash can battle in Gym matches.

The balance between Ash and May is a lot more... realistic, because May has things to do as well and it's not just The Ash Show like it was when Misty was hanging around for no reason. Max is different, because he wanted to see Pokemon before becoming a trainer himself, and May IS actually his sister. Of course, Brock is still just there for the hell of it, because I don't know how travelling around with Ash is going to make him a better breeder, but maybe Brock is just special. Misty got her bike back, which was the only reason she ever claimed to be following Ash (even though she completely forgot about it herself many times), and I don't care about all the Pokeshipping nonsense because there hadn't even been any hints since, like, Kanto.

I think the fact that Togepi not only evolved but then LEFT is a strong sign that Misty isn't going to come back. Togepi is a popular, kind of like a mascot like Meowth and Pikachu, and if Misty was going seriously going to return, or if the question were even open-ended, the writers would have probably kept the thing around.

I would watch that episode, but saddly, we know that it would end up being a two parter and Ash and friends would come save the day again....
Ever since team rocket started saying "I know, well give that ____ to the boss" and then Jessis and James would say stuff like "big promotions, corprate office, yeah!", it just isn't the same as the olden days.

Oh, if Misty were to "return", I think it would be cool if they did it as some sort of rematch against ash or something. I don't know why, but she would probably make a better nememissess than returning team member, what do you guys think?

You mean like, if they were rivals other then a team? If that's what you mean, I think that would be pretty cool. Kind of sad to see since they were always such good friends, but nonetheless something new.
