One of the annoying things about the BW era, now that it's coming to its end in November, is that it's the first time an entire Generation came and went without giving a card to every single existing Pokemon (other than Kadabra who is a special case). Now that Legendary Treasures has been announced and its contents are highly predictable, I thought it would be a good time to make a list detailing the most recent appearances of each Pokemon. The set numbers given are irrelevant other chronological order.

Last seen in Generation II: ONE Pokemon.
Set #1 - Skyridge (May 2003): Kadabra -- this is an unusual case because Kadabra is unofficially banned in the TCG due to Uri Geller suing Nintendo over the "Dark Kadabra" card, claiming that Nintendo had turned him into an "evil occult character." He lost the lawsuit but Nintendo clearly wants to avoid a repeat and has not printed any Kadabra cards throughout their run with the TCG.

Last seen in Generation IV's DP block: 27 Pokemon.
Set #2 - Diamond and Pearl Base Set (May 2007): Azurill, Wynaut, Bonsly and Mantyke -- all baby Pokemon who were skipped during the HGSS Base Set, the only other set that's really allowed multiple Baby Pokemon to appear since the DP era of the game. Annoyingly, the DP base set contains the ONLY English cards for Bonsly and Mantyke.

Set #3 - Mysterious Treasures (August 2007): Abra and Barboach -- Abra is a bit understandable due to the Uri Geller controversy; without this card, which allows Abra to evolve straight into Alakazam, Abra's last appearance would have been in Skyridge along with Kadabra.

Set #4 - Secret Wonders (November 2007): Shellder and Cloyster -- annoyingly, these Pokemon have not appeared in the TCG in five years, but the BW era was content to give us three different cards of Lapras rather than nixing two of them in favor of this line.

Set #5 - Great Encounters (February 2008): Ekans, Arbok, Krabby, Kingler, Zigzagoon, Linoone, Clamperl, Huntail and Gorebyss -- Krabby, to this day, is the Kanto Pokemon with the fewest cards. Kingler ties him if you don't count his holo and non-holo appearances in Expedition as separate cards.

Set #6 - Majestic Dawn (May 2008): Glameow.

Set #7 - Legends Awakened (August 2008): Swellow, Anorith, Armaldo, Castform, Regirock and Regice -- the BW era covered every Legendary except for Arceus and these two Regis. It also had Taillow but not Swellow as well as Lilleep and Cradily but not Anorith and Armaldo. :/

Set #8 - Stormfront (November 2008): Budew, Finneon and Lumineon -- coincidentally, the only three Sinnoh Pokemon who have two cards each, with two being the least number of cards any Pokemon through BW has received.

Last seen in Generation IV's Platinum block: 46 Pokemon.
Set #9 - Platinum (February 2009): Poochyena, Mightyena, Cranidos, Shieldon, Purugly and Happiny -- Poochyena and Mightyena are two of the five Dark-types who made no appearances during BW.

Set #10 - Rising Rivals (May 2009): Alakazam, Whiscash, Rampardos, Bastiodon, Shellos, Gastrodon and Munchlax -- the first four are all used as Pokemon GL or 4 cards, explaining why their pre-evolutions did not appear in this set. A great rare opportunity to use Alakazam that they didn't pass up, to their credit.

Set #11 - Supreme Victors (August 2009): Seel, Dewgong, Rhyhorn, Rhydon, Goldeen, Seaking, Mudkip, Marshtomp, Swampert, Shroomish, Breloom, Meditite, Medicham, Corphish, Crawdaunt, Chimecho, Chingling and Rhyperior -- congratualtions Mudkip line for being the only Starters to miss out on both HGSS AND BW!!

Set #12 - Arceus (November 2009): Geodude, Graveler, Golem, Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto, Kabutops, Wingull, Pelipper, Gulpin, Swalot, Burmy, Wormadam, Mothim, Arceus -- as stated before, Arceus is one of the few Legendaries who did not appear during BW, and Aerodactyl appeared while his Kanto counterparts were last seen in this set.

Last seen in Generation IV's HGSS block: 88 Pokemon, making 162 who missed out on Generation V's TCG altogether.
Set #13 - HGSS (February 2010): Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Paras, Parasect, Drowzee, Hypno, Jynx, Sentret, Furret, Spinarak, Ariados, Pichu, Igglybuff, Sunkern, Sunflora, Girafarig, Qwilfish, Corsola, Mantine and Smoochum -- unsurprisingly, the majority of these are Johto Pokemon.

Set #14 - Unleashed (May 2010): Spearow, Fearow, Poliwag, Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Tauros, Sudowoodo, Politoed, Stantler, Larvitar, Pupitar and Tyranitar -- Tyranitar is the ONLY Pseudo Legendary and one of the few Dark-types who did not appear during BW.

Set #15 - Undaunted (August 2010): Slugma and Magcargo -- two of the only Fire-types to not appear in BW.

Set #16 - Triumphant (November 2010): Venonat, Venomoth, Diglett, Dugtrio, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Tentacool, Tentacruel, Ponyta, Rapidash, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Lickitung, Unown, Elekid, Volbeat, Illumise, Shuppet, Banette, Luvdisc, Skorupi, Drapion and Lickilicky.

Set #17 - Call of Legends (February 2011): Pidgey, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Pineco, Snubbull, Smeargle, Tyrogue, Zangoose and Seviper's entire lines, along with Cleffa, Magby and Mime Jr.

Last seen in the "BW1" block (BW-Dragons Exalted): 97 Pokemon.
Set #18 - Emerging Powers (August 2011): Ferrothorn and Sawsbuck -- the only Unova Pokemon to receive only two cards who aren't Fossil Pokemon.

Set #19 - Next Destinies (February 2012): Raichu, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Persian, Arcanine, Staryu, Starmie, Pinsir, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Kricketot, Kricketune, Shinx, Luxio, Luxray, Bronzor, Bronzong, Hippopotas, Hippowdon, Regigigas, Pansage, Simisage, Panpour, Simipour, Basculin and Ferroseed -- go figure, all of them are pre-Unova Pokemon other than Basculin, Ferroseed and four of the monkeys who, to this day, TCG fans whine about being "printed too much." Luxio would appear as BW Promo circa Dark Explorers, BTW.

Set #20 - Dark Explorers (May 2012): Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Chansey, Aerodactyl, Slowking, Blissey, Raikou, Entei, Combusken, Blaziken, Torkoal, Kyogre, Groudon and Drilbur -- once again, all pre-Unova Pokemon other than Drilbur.

Set #21 - Dragons Exalted (August 2012): Cubone, Mareep, Hoppip, Aipom, Yanma, Murkrow, Ho-oh, Wurmple, Slakoth, Nincada, Nosepass, Electrike, Roselia, Wailmer, Baloty, Feebas, Spheal, Registeel, Bidoof, Buizel, Stunky and Roggenrola's lines -- all pre-Unova Pokemon other than the Roggenrola line.

Last seen in the "BW2" block (Boundaries Crossed-Legendary Treasures): 389 Pokemon.
Set #22 - Boundaries Crossed (November 2012): Sandshrew, Oddish, Psyduck, Farfetch'd, Scyther, Ditto, Gligar, Dunsparce, Heracross, Delibird, Celebi, Skitty, Numel, Spoink, Spinda, Trapinch, Buneary, Cresselia, Lillipup, Pidove, Blitzle, Venipede, Cottonee, Petilil, Darumaka, Mienfoo and Vullaby's lines, along with Meowth, Wobbuffet, Taillow, Duskull and Dusclops.

Set #23 - Plasma Storm (February 2013): Zubat, Magnemite, Doduo, Koffing, Togepi, Swinub, Skarmory, Phanpy, Lotad, Whismur, Carvanha, Lunatone, Solrock, Turtwig, Chimchar, Combee, Rotom, Giratina, Manaphy, Patrat, Pansear, Timburr, Foongus, Joltik, Klink, Elgyem, Cubchoo and Rufflet's lines, along with Clefairy, Clefable, Snorlax, Cherrim, Gallade, Liepard and Jellicent.

Set #24 - Everyone's Exciting Battles (Japanese exclusive): Electabuzz, Magmar, Marill, Azumarill, Electivire, Magmortar, Maractus, Scraggy, Scrafty, Deerling, Frillish, Alomomola, Heatmor and Durant.

Set #25 - Plasma Freeze (May 2013): Weedle, Rattata, Nidoran F, Nidoran M, Mankey, Grimer, Onix, Voltorb, Horsea, Mr. Mime, Dratini, Hoothoot, Chinchou, Wooper, Sneasel, Miltank, Treecko, Makuhita, Mawile, Cacnea, Kecleon, Absol, Beldum, Latias, Latios, Deoxys, Starly, Pachirisu, Heatran, Sandile, Yamask, Vanillite, Cryogonal and Pawniard's lines, along with Exeggutor, the Eeveelutions, Empoleon, Litwick and Lampent.

Set #26 - Plasma Blast (August 2013): Squirtle, Machop, Kangaskhan, Lapras, Porygon, Remoraid, Houndour, Suicune, Surskit, Aron, Lileep, Tropius, Snorunt, Relicanth, Bagon, Jirachi, Drifloon, Chatot, Snover, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Dialga, Palkia, Munna, Throh, Sawk, Tirtouga, Archen, Karrablast, Tynamo, Axew, Shelmet, Golett and Larvesta's lines, along with Exeggcute, Dusknoir and Ducklett -- Tirtouga, Carracosta and Archen tie with Sawsbuck and Ferrothorn for Unova Pokemon with the least cards, and those as well as Budew, Finneon and Lumineon for Pokemon with least cards (2).

Set #27 - Legendary Treasures/Radiant Collection (November 2013): anyone not listed above.

Yes, I get it; BW TCG sucked and was poorly planned.

Wow I can't believe such a significant amount of Pokemon are about a month or two from being completely skipped by a Generation in the TCG
