Don't get me wrong, I love this site, but if there is anything I do hate on this site, it's these god**** m*********ing automated advertisers and spambots. I'm tired of seeing these things talking about russian porn sites or drug related stuff or this 'spyder ski jackets' crap. So, I have a suggestion to make. Why not put a security passcode in the registration process that way a real person can get it and those **** machines can't. Sorry for my colorful language but it's just annoying. That is all.

I'm also sick and tired of these **** spambots. Anytime I see every single forum's latest post being some person with a wacko name in the forum index, I don't bother reading what it says; I just hit that report button. Also, I never click on any of the links because it might be a virus or something porn or whatever. Heck, I sometimes wish I could be a mod or something just to help deal with this.

But like Samurott said, we should have something to stop these. Like when registering, ask a few tough questions that actually require effort to answer. Or have them check some box to say that they're not a bot.

A good example of one of these spambots: viewtopic.php?f=36&p=479021#p479021

We have a question system in place during registration, with the following questions:

    * Pokemon is a franchise owned by this gaming giant, which also created Mario.
    * Each generation of Pokemon games is set in a "region" based on an actual place. Name one such region.
    * Name one of the "starter Pokemon" from any generation.
    * Three Pokemon are pictured in the banner seen at the top of this page. Name one of them.
    * Name a Pokemon that evolves from Eevee.
    * Name an Elite Four member or Champion from a Pokemon game.
    * Name ONE of the "version mascot" Pokemon that appears on the cover of RBY, GSC, RSE, FRLG, DPP, HGSS -or- BW.

So we have thought of all these measures but unfortunately they aren't working and we're at a loss to explain how they're getting through, since these questions require specialist knowledge.

I do agree with you s_r. They should have mods just for dealing with this crap. I would gladly sign-up for it. I'm not against advertising, its just advertising that is annoying. The tactic doesnt work on me, however. I just hate the subject even more everytime I see the ads for it.

We already know. Just because the spambots aren't deleted within seconds doesn't mean the staff will never notice them.

I'm just giving heads up. It's because sometimes they don't post the standard 33 times like always. I know you are trying to combat them, and I'm just trying to help. Last night while I was online, I caught in the act for the third time! All of our new members are bots.

We do not need your help. Spambots aren't exactly hard to find, it's just that there's not always someone on that can take care of them (i.e. admins). Just ignore the bots until then.
