Post subject:  Problem with viewing site while logged in
I go to the main page, and log in. I go back from the forums to the site, and I am logged on. If I go to any other page on the site (other than the main page or the forums), It logs me out! I don't know why it is doing it! When I log in, I check the box that says "log me on automaticaly each visit", so that can't be the problem.

What browser are you using? Are cookies enabled? What sort of anti-virus do you run - anything that calls itself "Internet Security" could be interfering with the cookies phpBB uses for login data.

Let me know about those things and I'll see what I can find for you.

I am using AOL (America Online) and I think we have Norton anti-virus software on our computer.
We have Internet Explorer on our computer, but I don't know if it does anything with AOL.

If you're on AOL, that's almost certainly a part of the problem, and there's nothing I can do about that.

Best I can suggest is double checking your browser to make sure it's configured to allow cookies, as that's how the auto-login works. Even then, there's something buggy about our auto-login that makes most people have to log back in every few hours anyway. Been trying to figure that out for months, but to no avail.

Thank you. I don't know if that will help or not, but I hope it will.
By the way, for some reason, I can explore the forums fine, but the site logs me out. Why would the problem only affect the site?

That's the most confusing part of it. The site has a login feature that uses the forums. Visiting on a page on the main site does the same thing as visiting a page on the forums as far as the code is concerned. I really have no idea why the login session expires instantly on the site but not the forums for you. I wish I could be of more help in trying to resolve this. Hopefully if we can manage to track down why most users get logged out every few hours, it might be easier.
