Everyone should have a list of friends they add at any time they want but the person they want to be friends with can choose to accept it and reject it. And then there should be a bar on the side of the main forum topic page and it shows if any of your friends are on. They could be called like psyfriends or something. I also think if you are friends it shows there friend code if they enter it under there profile.
