It's just easier to find the pure grass type on route 2, where %100 of the pokemon there are pure grass types.

Question: You said if it wasn't very effective against say, the Caterpie, then test on, say a Pikachu, and if it wasn't very effective, then it was either Electric or Steel types. But Caterpie doesn't resist those.

Yes, that is common knowledge. But don't forget that Kecleons are only available in RSE. FRLG users, for instance, cannot use this test method.

You could catch a kecleon trade it to fire red or leaf green and then use the vs seeker on any double battle team and then use hidden power on your partner the kecleon and you'll know the type.

That too is common knowledge, but not everyone has the chance to trade.

Let me reiterate that this method is the next-best alternative if you have no way to test Hidden Power out quickly on a Kecleon. If using it bugs you so much, don't use it.

Find your hidden Power Type in 4 Easy Steps(Only Emerald)

1-Get A Kecleon

2-Tutor it Endure

3-Go to Double Battle using this kecleon and your poke with hidden power

4-Use hidden power on kecleon and he use endure.

...Done! You know your hidden power type.

A good place for double battles is the Sr and Jr in front of
Day Care.
The fight again fast(Something Like 300 or 500 Steps)

same thing almost in DP - Pal Park a Kecleon over, teach it Endure from Move Tutor or TM.

There are low level double battle trainers just south of Floarama Town that you can use VS. Seeker on.

Like you said, this only works in Emerald. Plus, if you were to try out Hidden Power on wild Kecleon, it would still only work for RSE only. As such, this guide is meant for people who do not have access to Kecleons, such as in GSC or FRLG.
