There's about nine more days to the World Cup, so here's a little trivia about the World Cup for all who's interested. I haven't decided on what will be given to the winner(s), so just participate for the time being :D

Current Scores
milktank_94: 5 points
Eswin: 2 points

Question 1
Which of the lists below correctly identifies the country that each player is from? 2 points will be given for the correct answer, and 1 extra point will be given for each error in the other lists that you are able to point out.

List A: Eddie Johnson - England, Deco - Brazil, Edwin van der Sar - Holland, Ivan Ergic - Serbia and Montenegro
List B: Hernan Crespo - Argentina, Jesus Arellano - Spain, Alex - Brazil, Kasey Keller - US
List C: Collin Samuel - Trinidad and Tobago, Lukas Podolski - Germany, Theo Walcott - England, Pauleta - Portugal
List D: Pauleta - Brazil, Andre Ooijer - Holland, Kali - Iran, Nikola Zigic - Serbia and Montenegro

Example on how to answer, and how points are awarded:

List A: Akwa - Mexico, Petr Cech - Czech Republic
List B: Mark Schwarzer - Australia, Shinji Ono - Japan

Answer: List B is correct (two points awarded). Akwa in List A is from Angola, not Mexico (1 bonus point awarded)

Total: 3 Points

Right here comes the final answers. List C is the correct answer. As for the inherent errors in the other lists, the corrections will be made in yellow:

Quote:
List A: Eddie Johnson - <s>England</s> USA, Deco - <s>Brazil</s>Portugal, Edwin van der Sar - Holland, Ivan Ergic - Serbia and Montenegro
List B: Hernan Crespo - Argentina, Jesus Arellano - <s>Spain</s>Mexico, Alex - <s>Brazil</s>Japan, Kasey Keller - US
List C: Collin Samuel - Trinidad and Tobago, Lukas Podolski - Germany, Theo Walcott - England, Pauleta - Portugal
List D: Pauleta - <s>Brazil</s>Portugal, Andre Ooijer - Holland, Kali - <s>Iran</s>Angola, Nikola Zigic - Serbia and Montenegro

Points for question 1: Eswin gets 2 points, milktank_94 gets (2+3)=5 points

-------------

Question 2
Name the Asian countries taking part in the World Cup (1/2 point each), and name a player from each of these countries (1/2 point each)

1 more day to World Cup

Right, here are possible solutions.

Quote:
Saudi Arabia: Yasser Al-Qahtani, Sami Al-Jaber, Hamad Al-Montashari, Mohammad Al-Deayea, Redha Takar, Saoud Kariri

Japan: Hidetoshi Nakata, Naohiro Takahara, Shinji Ono, Alex, Koji Nakata, Shunsuke Nakamura

South Korea: Park Ji-Sung, Lee Chun Soo, Park Chu Younh, Cho Jae Jin, Kim Nam II, Lee Woon Jae, Lee Young Pyo, Ahn Jung Hwan

milktank_94 gets 2 points for naming all four countries correctly, plus an additional 3 points for naming the players. Minor spelling mistakes are ignored. Points were not awarded for Hidetoshi Nakata and Mohammed Deayea, however, Nakata's full name wasn't given, and Deayea was spelled too differently.

magic gets 1 point.

--------------------------------------------

3. The youngest ever player to play in a World Cup finals match
4. The record holder for most World Cup finals goals

6. The record holder for most goals in a single World Cup finals

Each question is worth 1 point. Up to 1 extra point will be given for each question for any additional (and correct) information, such as nationality of the player.

Please only answer up to a maximum of 2 questions, so as to give others a chance to answer. Only when no answers are given after a few days will the questions be opened up to all. Thanks.
