Groudon is pretty much made for novelty/ubers play. This is undoubtable one of the best uber out there. Drought nulls the Water Weakness, Beefy attack and defenses make the switching Kyogre fail.

Pros:
+ Drought = Grass/Fire/Ground/Rock Support like wh0a
+ Variable
+ 101 Subs

Cons:
- Drought = Exeggutor Summon
- Not too fast compared to other ubers
- Ice, Fire, and Grass Attack can hurt this guy

General Counters: Exeggutor, Ho-oh, Fast Ice or Grass pokemon.

Groudon @ Leftovers ** Groudon80
Trait: Drought
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Bug]
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

*This thing 6-0's all with a Liechi Pass from Ninjask.

Groudon @ Leftovers ** Sp.Groudon
Trait: Drought
EVs: 172 HP / 84 Spd / 252 SAtk
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Thunder / Swords Dance / Substitute

*Special-esque Groudon. Its Atk is INSANE so I don't really like this set, however you do get a shock factor. Flamethrower/FB gets pseudo-stab from drought and owns Skarm and Celebi. Thunder can catch Kyogre on the switch for some nice hax paralysis or something.

Groudon @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 172 HP / 100 Atk / 136 Def / 100 SAtk
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- Bulk Up / Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Thunder / Thunderbolt / Substitute

*Remove the Sp.Atk Evs if you are completely throwing out Thunder(bolt). Bulk Up makes this thing a physical wall that kills everything. Kyogre loves switching into Thunder. Rock Slide and EQ are just nice.

Groudon @ Choice Band ** CBGroudon
Trait: Drought
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Hidden Power [Bug / Flying]
- Brick Break

*What is there to say? Bug > Flying more than likely as Psychic Pokemon are EVERYWHERE in ubers.

Another pro is it's ability to stop Blissey and Metagross which like to come to the uber party as well.

Thunder should never ever be used with Groudon because sunny day cuts its accuracy replace all thuders with solar beam or thunderbolt.

I use Groudon as a mixed sweeper
@Quick Claw
Lonely (+attack -def) since no physical attacks harm it any way
-Fire Blast
-Rock Slide
-Solar Beam
-Earthquake
EVs (parenthases=total value)
HP-76 (360)
Attack-112 (400)
Def-0 (284)
Speed-146 (252)
Sp Attack-107 (262)
Sp Def-69 (233)

Groudon is my favorite Uber for two reasons.
1.It's the first physical Uber (flyers don't count because their stats are based in sp att.)
2. It's sort of the underdog of Ubers. Having great physical Def while being a type that has only special weaknesses, supposed to be the counter for kyogre but kyogre can use ice attacks, having to be a mixed sweeper to cover all weaknesses, get a STAB, and take advantage of its ability.

I think the point was that Thunder is only supposed to be used on a predicted switch-in of Kyogre, which is on just about every uber team...

yeah, Thunder + Rain Dance = LOL @ KYOGRE on the switch

Except that Groudon has low Sp Attack and Kyogre has high Sp Def. So it's more of lol at groudon's attempt.

In an Uber battle, you want to bring try to bring out your Groudon/Kyogre last.

There are various EVs that make ur comment too controversial. Thunder on the switch may do 40-50% damage. Sometimes Groudon has more spd EVs and is able to KO on the next Thunder.

btw, I thought of something really stupid, but it was kinda interesting so i had to post.

Groudon @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 240 HP / 180 Def / 88 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd) or Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
-Protect
-Counter
-Eruption
-Earthquake

L O L. Insight from counterpert.

I understand protect and eruption. Earthquake of course. But counter? Groudon's a physical spounge, you don't use physical attacks on it.

You aren't looking for the OHKO. You are looking for the nice Damage on the switch and the VERY real probability of a paralyzed uber-orca. Also, that chunk of missing HP makes Water Spout(if they use it) that much weaker. Plus it is easy to throw Shed/Deox/Lugia into a Paralyzed orca.

EQ > Brick Break and Swords Dance/Bulk Up/Thunder > Slash.

Evs in HP, Sp.Atk, and Def. 0 in Atk. Not that bad a set....Still, Kyogre Switch would slay this so maybe Thunder is the safe way to go.

Still if you thought they were going to switch to Kyogre, wouldn't you use EQ?

I am sorry, but a 240 base attack that has a remarkably high chance for Paralysis is WAY better than a simple STAB 150 BP Earthquake.

Post subject:

True, but you're not taking into the equation that Groudon has a lot more physical attack than special attack and Kyogre has less physical defense than special defense. That's why I think it should use EQ instead.

...

46-54% damage + high chance of para.

42-49% STAB EQ with the SAME set.

No one gives Kyogre Def EVs. That is with a Max EV/no Def Kyogre. Ok..

So. You'd use the weaker attack because?

Groudon is arguably the strongest pokemon in the game (and its been argued).

Groudon has also been proven to be > Kyogre.

Here is why:

Swords Dance EQ OHKO's Kyogre. Kyogres Surf or Ice Beam cannot OHKO Groudon with the Sun in effect (they do about 54%). It basically boils down to who is faster. Faster Groudon = Win. Slower Groudon = Lose. Same Speed = Pray for first move plz.

And yeah, give it a Jask Pass and the show's all over. With Groudon's MASSIVE defense, it larfs at Extremespeed and OHKO's with Rock Slide.

Groundon > Kyogre basically because Groudon can switch in.
