I'm doing this as a favor for a friend who isn't a member here. She's just started battling competitively, and she wanted to see if she was any good or not, for a beginner. Thanks! And I don't think she EV-trained it, as she doesn't even know what EVs are, or how they work. They are not in any order. And as it isn't my team, I can't guess at what she's trying to do... So... bear with me. @Amulet Coin Gentle Nature (Sp. Def. + / Def. -) Hydro Cannon Ice Fang Slash Crunch @Charcoal Careful Nature (Sp. Def. + / Sp. Side Note : i seriously dont know what sorta information to type i keep it simple he is my attacker or mixed attacker or special attacker. I dont make any pokemon to tackle some special pokemon. i will type 2 lines for each pokemon if thats ok? Also i dont really understand EV's or IV's My team is gonna be used against only the elite four. i dont do any siort of trading nor do i go on wi-fi. Only offline battling. I want my tier to be in Uber or UU. I find in my team staportor a bit weak and also i found that my empoleon does not have a very varied moveset. Is this up again with Gen V? Do we need even more pancakes, or do we have enough? Should we move on to waffles? |

And you want your team to be in uber or uu , to be honest , nothing on your team is UU. And just for the fact of having Girantina in it , it goes to uber , no discussion there. |

OK this team was made for Single battle in the subway(B/W). Its doing pretty good, but I need something better for my third poke. lvl 50 252 Hp/252 DEF/ 4 (6) speed impish nature Ability= Sturdy Item=leftovers Roar Stealth rock Roost Brave Bird Say hello to my lead. I tweaked this from a set I found on GameFaq.com. I used Roar instead of the suggested whirlwind because, well I didnt relaize until after 5 hours of breeding for bravebird, that whirlwind also needed to be bred on. I went with stealth rock over Spikes, that was just personal preferance. Anyways. On my first turn Skarmory sets up stealth rock. I follow that up by a few roars to ensure that all of the opponets pokes have gotten Stealth rocks at leats once, and to see what im up against. If any of the pokes Can be taken out by bravebird in one shot, I go for it. If not I continue Roar, until they are weak enough so that 1or 2 bravebirds can take em out. Roost when needed. For the most part, I dont even have to use the other two that much, Since this guy takes out 99% of my opponets. Meinshoa lvl 50 6hp/252 att/252 speed Jolly nature ABility= Regerator item= Wide lens/Life Orb drainpunch/Fake out Jump Kick/High jump kick Stone edge U-turn When evaluating this guy, whats in red is what im going for(again set came from GAmefaq). Im still working on it, mainly becuase I relized it doesn learn Hi-jump kick till lvl 56.. That and I got to check its curent Ev's. Anyways, The jumps are stab and main attack power. Fake out is supposed to be used with U-Turn. Stone Edge is to handle flying types. U-turn is for healing any damage and for gettin away from psychic and flying types. The only reasson wh yI have Wide lens is becuase I dont have a life orb. I havent really had to us Meinshoa that much, becuase Skarmory takes out most of my opponets. OK here's where it gets tricky. I twas suggested that i use a zapdos with Meinshoa. Only problem is that my zapdos is REALLY broken. Zapdos lvl 100 Timid nature Ev's ????????????? what ever they are, they arent right. Abilty= pressure. Thunderbolt voltswitch shockwave drillpeck Ok well, voltswitch works with Meinshoa, so I can switch back and forth between the two. T-bolt(was recently thunder, until I lost battle 14) and drillpeck is stab. Shockwave is filler. Ive been lookin into what to replace shockwave with. I ve checked out the Faq Ive been using and it seems my best options are either roar or toxic. The other ones suggested dont seem to fit with what im going for. Id much rather try and replace Zapdos then try and fix it, mainly because It is so broken, so any suggestion would be appreciated. |

This team would be for the VGWC 2011 if it ever happens rules are Here Basically Doubles, Item clause, speciecs claues. Unova region only pokemon. Zekrom, reshiram, kurem, victini, Genesect, keldao, meloneta are banned. This team is the same strategy employed last year it worked Great, except verse the hacker which i lost to.(long story-don't ask) basically, the entire team is well rounded Tanks, EVs combined with modest IVs (between 16 and 21) will land Each pokemon(@ lvl 50) with defenses of at least 110, Offence of at least 120 and at least HP of 190. Anywhere below where it says /Defenses means extra EVs that can be spread either to Offence or to defenses. more than likely I will boost defenses as the 110 standard was meant to withstand base 130 offensive pokemon with max attack and choice (AKA Garchomp) but now there are quiet a few Unova pokes with over 130 base offence, I.E. Haxorus, chandlure, Exadrill, Escavalier, conkeldurr, archeops, daramintian, volcrona Hydregion Modest w/life orb @ Levitate EVs 252 HP 60 DF 60 SD 138 SA/Defenses Dragon Pulse Fire Blast Surf ?????/Taunt/Dark Pulse >Easily one of the strongest Pokemon available in this VGWC, levitate protects it from everyone earthquakes, taunt is an option but since its slower than normal it will be difficult to use effectively, Dark pulse gets stab but its only better if it get SE which risks a justified switch-in. Throh Adamant w/ Red Card @ Guts EVs 252 HP 100 DF 100 SD 58 AT/Defenses Storm Throw Payback Earthquake ?????/Wide Guard-See other topic/Protect >Hopefully wide guard works verse surf/earthquake otherwise I'll need to run Protect, Storm throw's guarantied CH cuts through any defensive boosts, due to its speed payback will most likely hit for double damage, Red card on a slow pokemon sounds like a bad idea because your foe gets to send out what ever pokemon they want and you can only use prediction to choose your move, however the foe will most likely choose some thing that resists fighting moves so payback will likely be SE (ghost, psy) I choose guts over moldbreaker for two reasons, one is hydregions levitate, mursharna's telepathy and the other is guts lets it absorb status Bouffalant Adamant w/ leftovers @ Sap sipper EVs 252 HP 20 DF 20 SD 218 AT/Defenses Head Charge/Thrash Payback Earthquake Wild Charge >Sap sipper is chosen here because it allows it to switch in on grass attacks aimed at terrakion, thrash doesn't get recoil but you get locked into it Terrakion Adamant w/ choice band @ Justified EVs 252 HP 60 DF 60 SD 138 AT/Defenses Sacred Sword Rock Slide Earthquake ??????/Quick Attack/Protect > Simply Powerful set, justified is useful to take dark type attacks aimed at Musharna, quick attack gets you a priority move Musharna Modest w/ Lum Berry @ Telepathy EVs 252 HP 100 DF 20 SD 138 SA/Defenses Psychic Shadow ball/???????? Hidden Power [Fight] Moonlight > A second Special based tank, not as usefull, but telepathy helps it avoid earthquake/surf, It has a small move pool so It may be more helpful as a supporter Helping Hand, Magic Coat-Which now bounces taunt!,Yawn all are options Mandibuzz Adamant w/ Bright Powder @ Over Coat EVs 252 HP 252 AT 4 SD Brave Bird Knock off Bone rush Roost >This Set is Basic, smogon suggests whirlwind over Bone rush, but since this doubles its not as useful, bonerush is good for hurting steel types which can be problematic, knock off is just to deprive the foe of their item. |

I'm re-opening this thread just to ask a question: do you guys want the stickied thread to cover both Gen IV and Gen V teams, or would you rather have a separate thread for each Generation? If so, we could leave this open for Gen IV, which I'd prefer because even RBY, GSC and RSE have their own rating threads, although not in Battle Tower. |

Thanks Frost, I forgot about that because no one ever uses those rating centers. I'll move this topic to Sinnoh Region and sticky it there. |

You might want to post your Pokemon's moves, abilities, EV spread, nature, and held items when you want your team to be rated in order for the raters to properly rate your team. |

To answer your question, that team is perfectly fine for playing through the story. This thread is meant for competitive battling teams, so post here when you start planning for that =) |

Post subject: | Re: Gen IV Rating Center |
For the Battle tower in Diamond... Sorry I don't really know how to calculate EVs I also don't really know much about tiers... Umbreon@Leftovers Impish/ Synchronize Toxic Double Team Baton Pass Protect/ Moonlight Obviously a staller. I put him first so that I could protect a sweeper if faced with a disability. I just have to hope the first one isn't a steel or poison type for toxic to work. Double team is nice but its a bit slow to build up good evasion. Umbreon got OHKOed by fissure, despite using Double Team a few times. Metagross@Lum Berry Adamant/ Clear Body Bullet Punch Aerial Ace Earthquake Brick Break One of my best Physical Sweepers. Aerial ace is for in case the enemy uses Double Team or something. Bullet punch makes up for metagross's low speed and picks off anything close to fainting. I just didn't know whether to get Salamence instead for its high speed, but metagross has better defences. Gengar@spell tag Serious/ Levitate Thunderbolt Shadow Punch Shadow Ball Sludge Bomb A pretty good Special sweeper. I just hope the Shadow moves aren't too repetative, but I wasn't really sure what to put in place of Shadow punch; Metagross does have Aerial ace anyway. Gengar's main weakness I think is a faster psychic or a Physical Sweeper; it keeps getting KOed by those like Salamence. I was also considering Starmie for its nice type range and slightly faster speed, but it does have lower Sp. Att. Sorry I'm a bit indecisive but there were too many nice pokemon ^_^'' Also I'm kind of fourth gen+ pokemon discriminative to prove gen 3- aren't anything less! but thats probably going too far. |
