Infernape probably won't beat a Weavile head to head.

Anything that can eat an attack and strike back hard, maybe like Bronzong. Gyro Ball would rip Weavile apart. Bronzong also resists Ice Shard/Punch, and takes neutral from Night Slash/Pursuit.

The most prominent counter other than a Resister probably is Mach Punch, or Sash-Attack (because Weavile shall  you if you Sash a stat move against it. Of course, if a Weavile Shards Mach Punch, you pretty much got reowned.
Metagross with Bullet Punch MIGHT work. Though Bronzong will probably be a better option.

Gengar, Dusknoir, Gardevoir, Wobbuffet, Drifblim, Mismagius, Wynaut, Froslass, Banette--all too slow and will get beat easily by Weavile with a Night Slash.

Weezing, Qwilfish, Cacturne, Vespiquen, Spiritomb--the Pokemon that Weavile's move would do neutral against-too slow.

Destiny Bond won't work effectively.

i would have thought infernape would be a great weavile counter. it is resistent to its STAB attacks, and can use mach punch. surely thats a OHKO?

oh, and a focus sash garchomp (or anything) with brick break cant kill a focus sash weavile...

Choice Specs Lucario maybe?

Vacuum Wave
Aura Sphere
Psychic
Dark Pulse

Decent type coverage, and a first strike that gets STAB, the 1.5 choice boost, and is 4x effective.

You also have the added bonus of Dark moves only doing 25% damage, and Ice moves will only do 50%, so switching in, while not recommended due to the possibility of Brick Break, is possible.

Hmmm...you guys have listed down just about everything that can counter a Weavile...1 BIG prob...what if the opponent gave his/her Weavile a Focus Sash? Mach punch won't work cos Infernape is Slower than Weavile 90% of the time...which means the Weavile would be able to attack Infernape twice in a row after infernape used Mach Punch on it...do you think Infernape will survive? Hmmm...I don't think anything much can have much of an advantage against this kind of Weavile...perhaps Tyranitar but that's not the case if the Weavile Knows Brick Break...my guess is, fight Fire with Fire...Another Weavile with Brick Break...the one who strikes first wins...or you can get any Pokemon that's faster than a Weavile....choice Scarf Pokemon. Weavile counters Itself. :)

Well...

Infernape used Mach Punch
Weavile hangs on w/ Focus Sash
Weavile attacks (assuming its not Aerial Ace)
Infernape used Mach Punch again
Weavile fainted

I think Cuddles and I assumed that the Weavile didnt have a Focus Sash though. And if it did have a Focus Sash, it's most likely trying to use Swords Dance, which means that the most damaging move Weavile has is Brick Break, which isn't too much to worry about.

Hitmontop anyone?

Resists dark attacks, neutral to fightning and ice.

With intimidate, it can scare Weavile off, or if it stays in, Mach Punch for the OHKO.

Looks like Infernape can be countered by Weavile if Weavile knows Aerial Ace...so I think Hitmontop is a better counter cos Intimidate prevents Weavile from KOing Hitmontop in 1 hit (If Weavile knows Aerial Ace) and it knows Mach Punch.

thats right, and thats why i said:

i know i keep saying it, but theres no guarantees these days. you could use mach punch or whatever, but if weavile has a focus sash, he will hit you back. still, i dont think you will see too many with aerial ace. NS,IP,BB is a much better combination. the last spot could be left for ice shard to help get out of tricky spots (beats ninjask, reversallers, etc). or swords dance.

you know i was only thinking this morning that weavile resists BOTH its own STAB moves, hehehe..... so it is a counter of itself. if you have brick break, and are faster, and the other weavile doesnt have a choice scarf etc.

i say the best bet is to just have a good physical wall. skarm should work more than well, as weavile's attack isnt exactly astronomical.

but in my opinion, the best counter (if by counter you mean something that will smash it to pieces quickly before it does the same to you) is mach punch. probably on infernape rather than breloom, because you want to be careful of ice shard. this ISNT a guarantee because of focus sash. but if you want to get rid of that annoying possibility, introduce sandstream or put spikes/rocks out.

surely thats the end of the story.

Mach punch infernape survives ice shard, and i believe KOs

Lucario Vaccum Waves can do it (resists ice and 4x resist to night slash)

Focus Sash is actually not used (though probably should be with revenge).

but...

Most Steel types do well against Weavile. Forretress just laughs off his attacks and can use Weavile's Speed against him by firing off STABed, super effective Gyro Balls. Bronzong works in a similar way, but his neutrality to Dark attacks means the occasional critical hit from Night Slash will hurt. Metagross survives hits easily and can bypass Weavile's Speed advantage by firing off a Bullet Punch, which will OHKO if Metagross is carrying a Life Orb or Choice Band. Scizor has all manner of weapons to kill Weavile, take your pick from X-Scissor, Brick Break or Iron Head. Life Orb Quick Attack can 2HKO and OHKO after a Swords Dance.

Intimidate and neutrality to both STAB moves means Gyarados can come in pretty safely and batter Weavile with Stone Edge. Swampert does well against the Choice Bander and can 2HKO with Earthquake or Stone Edge, while Hammer Arm will OHKO. A Swords Danced, Life Orb Ice Punch can 2HKO, so if you want Swampert to take on the Swords Dance, Hammer Arm is a necessity.

Regirock can survive three Brick Breaks, even with boosts from Swords Dance or Choice Band and will KO Weavile with his STAB attack.

Beware of random Choice Scarfers, especially Fighters like Heracross. Mach Punch is not Weavile's friend either. Fighters like Breloom and Hitmonchan can both OHKO even without any kind of stat/item boost. Minimum Attack Hitmontop comes close to a OHKO with Mach Punch, and his decent Defense coupled with Intimidate, allow him to come in with little risk.
