woot 2 more positions left! :o

this is really starting to take form, esp. with some people helping out with the testing and such.

i am pretty sure that some bug-maniac-psychopath would eventually come by, but the poison type would be left out of the league :P

links on the first post are updated everyday, so do check there for links and updates (guys, there are also links to your gym guidelines too, so you wouldn't get lost in this thread either)

The sticky would have rules and links to the Gyms just like the first post.

I'm exempt from testing? I really don't mind being tested, i just want it to be half and half, as my team's strategy is based on that split.

Really, I think the topic couldnt be anymore specific. But, I'm getting to the point where I'm just gonna either ignore or put up some type of penalty.

Anyway, what do you think of my SIG? Does it advertise well, or is it too dramatic?

Ice: Ice_Ball22 0-0-0/0
Fighting: airman33 0-0-0/0
Dragon: Sapphirath 0-0/0
Roar Of Time 1-1-0/0 <- Yes, even though you've started. Pass!
Ground: 4ever_bug_catcher 0-0-0/0
Grass: Sav 0-0-0/0
Flying: Case 0-0-0/0
Rock: Legendary Rock Master 0-0-0/0 +
Ghost: TheKid 0-0-0/0 +

Anyone else needs to contact either of us.

I would prefer to do the testing 6v6, but if you don't have enough pokes 3v3 is fine too.

If your type is Bug, Electric, or Fire, you can bring 2 pokes that are not your type in 6v6 and 1 in 3v3. For everyone else, 1 in 6v6 and none in 3v3.

Clauses include Sleep, Evasion, OHKO, Hacks, and Ubers/legends.

I expect you to contact me, not the reverse. I think the deadline should be... about a week or two.

Note: You might not get in if you beat me, but you might if you don't beat me. I look for skill and uniqueness only.

@Sapp & anyone else: NO HACKS!

wow - i didnt look at this thread for a few days, and it has 5 new pages!! ok ive read them all, and i see there is some kind of "testing" thing going on. well, i will be happy to test any potential gym leaders. if you want to try out with me then send me a PM and we can arrange a time - it will generally have to be in the evenings if you are in the US, since that works out to mornings in australia. my "rules" for these "tryout" battles are:

1) use YOUR gym team. ie if you are the fighting leader, you need 3+ fighting pokes etc.
2) use YOUR clauses. ie the standard clauses from page 1 plus any other you intend to impose. if i think any of them are a bit weird/unfair, i might tell you so - its all part of the tryout process.
3) even though i say to use YOUR terms and conditions, i would still prefer these tryouts to be 6v6 singles, just to check the depth/diversity of your team and battling capabilities.

as the killer said, you dont have to actually beat me to be accepted, just good enough for a gym leader. and you may well beat me anyway ;)

by the way, i have battled ROT a few times, and i think he is definitely good enough to be the dragon leader. (he must have been laughing as i layed 3 layers of spikes, only to discover that 5 of his pokes were flying!!)

IMPORTANT EDIT: UnderTaker can you plz close my gym for a week, heres why: I have a Science exam(already revising lots) in a week and I have tons of coursework to do (doing it right now, never stops coming) so won't be here for a week. Got a B on my practise which is good considering I wasn't at school for a month(serious illness, don't ask what)

Well out of the Peeps for the controversy surronding TK's rules:
For: Cuddles
Against: KOL40

Gosh. I guess I need 4ever's input. BTW TK is a member of the Peeps.

I dont know if I'll allow it unless someone can get some reasoning in.

Airman and RoT put up the status of your Gyms on your page.

hmmm.... i didnt completely understand that last message.

i think it would be a good idea for EVERY gym leader to have a trial-run with an experienced battler (like myself or thekiller) just to see if they are up to scratch. you dont have to win, although you may well do so, but it's just so that someone reliable can make sure the gym leaders arent gonna be like:

ZOMG i gotz some DRAGONZZ i iz guna b teh DRAGONZ leaderZZZ

hehehe....... not to say any of the dragon leaders out there are like that! but you know what i mean.

its no pressure on the leaders, and i realise some leaders are probably better than me anyway, but i can at least tell if someone is gonna be competitive, and really a gym leader should at least have some amount of talent! i guess the gym leaders that try out against me/thekiller will also have the chance to say whether they think we are good enough too ;)

Precisely. The testing system is (or should be) there not only to test applicants but also to test current gym leaders.

With no direct offense to anyone, the testing system is (or should be) in place so that the gym leaders... don't completely suck is a nice way to put it.

As for my rules, I still think that you can make a firm team with any type except Fire, Electric, and Bug. Those three have the least coverage and the least OU pokes. Dragon egg group is good, and I've seen amazing teams with other type including Ice and Grass. One pokemon out of six should be plenty that does not remain the same type.

For example, a 3v3 water team:

Bulky Gyarados
Starmie
Electivire

If you allow 1 out of 3 pokes to be a different type, you may see teams like this. The Electivire basically eliminates the weakness to electricity the other two have, plus it's a fairly balanced 3v3 team. It still abides by the current rules, but doesn't look much like a water gym...

I didn't say i was against it, I just said I think we should be able to use half and half. I think some people who have been here shouldn't REALLY need to be tested. Such as myself; you guys should know from reading my stuff that i pretty much know what i am doing. Just the people who have like 6 posts and are like "I wanna be a gym leader!" Because otherwise we wouldn't know if these people are up to leading. If you guys disagree to this then i will still be tested.

Still, my point is, wouldn't a team of Houndoom, Weavile, Spiritomb, Absol, Umbreon, and one poke of your choice work? I've seen it work before...

Having Weavile, Spiritomb, and Umbreon on a team with, let's say, Starmie, Blissey, and Gyarados is too well balanced to be a gym team. The leader is SUPPOSED to be at a slight disadvantage, but with enough skill they SHOULD be able to win anyway. Hince the testing system.

And I think I can tell that you're good to go, but would still like Cuddles or I to test you anyway.

i certainly agree with that in principle. but then we just have to decide "who needs to be tested". so i think its just fairer to "test" everyone. that way no-one gets offended etc. KOL40 - i believe you would be fine as a gym leader, from your intelligent posts. if you want, we could have a battle and you could also be testing me out at the same time ;)

and i'm starting to agree with thekiller about the idea of more diversity, but i think that making all battles 6v6 would help with this. i mean you can put electivire on a team with 5 other water pokes, and youre still laughing. i think water is a bit of a special case. you can make a team of 6 water pokemon none of which are weak to electric (or another team not weak to grass). but yeah, maybe 4/6 pokemon on your team should be of your designated type. but still, you have pretty much listed most of the good dark types there - the gym leader's team would be pretty much obvious in that case. but yeah, gym leaders DO need to be prepared to lose the odd batle to a well-prepared challenger!

Of course, let's not forget Honchkrow, Drapion, Cacturne (With Sand Veil), Crawdaunt*, and the most obvious one that people forget about it: Tyranitar!

Again, this is just an example, if anyone wants another feel free to ask ;)

*Yes, it sucks, deal with it

Yeah, I see your point, I just only have about three of those (or any other dark types for that matter) trained. And they're not exactly perfect, just the best for the moment. Maybe 4/2 is a more agreeable split, but down the road a bit. See, while you guys have been into competitive pokemon for a while, I just got into it this month...actually let me check to see if it is right...It hasn't even been a month. Tues. Oct 23 was when this thread was started and that is when i decided to make a competitive team. Couple that with the fact that on a typical day i can only play an hour or so...

Well... another possibility is to reverse the idea. Instead of most having 1 and some having 2, most can have 2 and some* could have 1...

*Including but not limited to: Water, Normal, Dragon (Egg group), Rock, Poison, and MAYBE Ghost and Dark.

I guess we can agree on that.

And for Poison type, it's arguably one of the best types possible, believe it or not. You get the ability to cover all weaknesses (Levitate & Drapion), as well as amazing defenses on most.

A vote is should be, then.

KEEP rules the way they are (3 for 6v6, 2 for 5v5 or 4v4, 1 for 3v3): 3

CHANGE rules to 1 alternate for all types but Bug, Electric, and Fire: 0

CHANGE rules to 2 for all types but Water, Normal, Dragon (egg group), Poison, Rock, and possibly Ghost and Dark (maybe more): 1

Just cast a vote, please.
