What's your favourite double-battle movesets (for both in game and competitive battling)? What makes them so effective? I just thought one up right now that combines two very different pokes that makes both much better that if they were alone. This isnt for rating, just discussion, but feel free to make suggestions if you wish

Slaking @ sitrus berry
Truant | Jolly

Substitute
Toxic
Focus Punch
Shadow Claw

Shuckle @ leftovers
Sturdy | Bold/Impish

Substitute
Toxic
Wrap
Gastro Acid

On the first turn, Shuckle Gastro Acids Slaking , removing Truant and allowing it to attack every turn. Slaking Substitutes. Next turn, the opponent sees the Focus Punch coming, so they both attack Slaking to break the Substitute. However, Shuckle wraps and Slaking Intoxicates both opponents in the next 2 turns. Slaking sweeps with Focus punch and shadow claw, while shuckle wraps to keep the opponent from switching out. They reapply substitute when needed. In a few turns, the opponent will succumb to the combined toxic, wrap, and Slaking sans Truant, and game over.

If you have any effective teams you want to advertise, or you just want to comment on other teams, go right ahead.

Slaking should have Lefties/Shell Bell.

interesting set, though. Perhaps, also consider giving Shuckle Protect over Wrap, and Slaking EQ over Toxic.

Yeah, I think now with worry seed and gastro acid, slaking will be uber in terms of double battles. In the 3rd gen, your ally had to skill swap it out and then either lose a turn switching out or lose a turn because of truant before skill swapping it into a foe. Now truant can be removed in one turn.

However, worry seed is the preferred way to remove it, since the insomnia ability is better than no ability at all.

I can not see Slaking making a good subber due to his ability. Toxic as Sion said would be a waste as well. Remember that Slaking has one of the harshest abilities in the game, so think about your moveset more. BTW HB is nasty on him, his traunt and recharge work on the same turn.

Gastro acid removes a pokemon's ability. Ergo, slaking would have not have truant anymore.

Try Breloom instead with Worry Seed. Removes Truant, and gives sleep immunity. Also, Breloom can be handy outside of this combo, as Shuckle is ****.

I wanna stay on topic, but Shuckle isn't really that bad...

A while ago I was thinking about using Gastro Acid on Regigigas in a double battle, but I decided that the Victreebel line sucked way too hard to ever use in battle. I never thought about Worry Seed. I think I've got a better idea now..

Not in double battles it ain't.

1. Pair it with a slow, yet tanking pokemon that knows trick room. The pokemon MUST BE SLOW BUT NOT SLOWER THAN SHUCKLE. Claydol is the common choice, since it has levitate.

2. On the first turn, claydol uses trick room while shuckle uses power trick.

3. Proceed to dual sweep with shuckle's +600 attack stat, EQ, and rock slide

Note that a dusknoir could replace claydol if it has the moveset:
Trick room
Helping hand
Gravity/Protect
Follow Me

Trick room is obvious, helping hand gives shuckle a bigger boost, and Follow me prevents shuckle from being killed by first strike moves. The only problem is that dusknoir's ability is pressure, not levitate. Thus you have a choice between gravity, which will make EQ hit all pokemon, and protect, which will keep your dusknoir in the game.
