Oh, my bad...

I still think {blissey}'s Thunder Wave could be replaced. It only slows the foe down. Why not teach it Toxic instead, which chips away an ever-increasing number of HP each turn until the opponent faints? 8-)
As for the nature, a Calm nature would give {blissey} a Special Defence stat gain of up to 36, while with a Bold nature, its Defence will rise by up to 11. That isn't worth it, not when you can add 25 more than that to Sp. Def by getting a Calm one (and if it has a good Defence IV, you can get 11 more points anyway).

T-wave is for team support, opening the way for safe switches, and a 25% chance of disabling the opponent entirely.

Bold > Calm, for the mere fact that bold allows Blissey to survive Earthquakes (even SAB'ed) and Focus Punches (short of I believe Machamp), even a few crit-hit cross chops.
Her SpDef is so high, there's no real need to boost it 25 points.

*25 more points. {blissey}'s SpDef can rise by up to 36 with a nature boost.

A Bold nature would be useless without EV training though, because that gives loads more extra points than the nature, which makes it far more relevant for survival.
If you're breeding for a nature, you can also lay several eggs and hold out for a high IV, which again has a greater influence on stat gain than the nature does. (If you're playing Emerald, you can check with the IV Guru which stat's IV is the Pokemon's highest, and wait for him to say Defence. If you're not playing Emerald, you can just check the Pokemon's stats and raise the one that hatched with the highest Defence stat.)
I was working on the maths. EV training for {blissey} does far more to boost Defence than SpDef in terms of proportion, because the stat gain is always 63 if you max out EVs. (That doubles Defence, but only raises SpDef by about a fifth.) But the proportion of the stat gain from an advantageous nature is always the same at 10%, which means a higher base stat equals a better gain.
You're totally right about raising {blissey}'s Defence rather than SpDef, because raising SpDef is like teaching a Pokemon moves to cover its resistances rather than its weaknesses.
From now on, I'll train my {blissey} for high Defence.

As for team support, I usually just send out the best Pokemon for the job and give them movesets that I hope will allow them to achieve victory on their own, rather than using supporting moves in case of fainting or switching. Team support isn't my strong suit. So although Thunder Wave might be a great team supporting move, that isn't my preferred strategy. Different strokes...

Post subject:  Frontier Team

This is a team I'm planning on raising to take on the Battle Frontier. I lack another GBA, so I can only get pokemon from Emerald. Note: All pokemon will be lv 50.

{torkoal} Relaxed @ Leftovers
Flamethrower
Body Slam
Iron Defense
Hidden Power (Grass)/Iron Tail

{salamence} Hasty @ Dragon Fang
EQ
Flamethrower
Dragon Claw
Steel Wing/Rock Slide/?

I am looking for one last pokemon, preferably water-type, to get. I am leaning towards {walrein} for the semi-bulk it offers (90 defenses aren't bad) though I would prefer to have a physical water type. I am planning to use {salamence} as a dual sweeper, with support from the other two, depending on the opponent.

Also, I would like to get opinions on:

{blaziken} Rash @ Leftovers
Hidden Power (Ice)
Aerial Ace
Blaze Kick
Sky Uppercut

Ya, he isn't for competive, but has been my main go to pokemon for my entire game, and I'm amazed by how well it turned out even though I never EV trained it.
Note: amazing Sp. Att. Perfect IV, and is even with my Rayquaza, even though it's 5 levels lower.

HIdden Power generally has dismally low power... you might want Amnesia instead, for protection against Water Pokemon. Curse instead of Iron Defence raises Attack power as well, which gives Body Slam a boost. (If you do use Curse, you could turn this Pokemon into a physical sweeper and tank, by giving it Leftovers and teaching it a physical move instead of Flamethrower to draw on its boosted Attack stat.)

Flamethrower and Dragon Claw are both special moves... you're better off going for purely physical attacks, to capitalise on this Pokemon's extraordinary Attack stat. Earthquake, Rock Slide, Aerial Ace and Brick Break is a good moveset, or else replace Brick Break with Dragon Dance (which can be taught as an egg move to {bagon} by breeding with {gyarados}).

If you choose {walrein}, then you've got three Pokemon with Rock weaknesses... you're better off with {starmie} which is a great special sweeper with Natural Cure - Surf, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt and Psychic is a stellar moveset for it (pun intended).

That means you don't have the Aerial Ace TM for {salamence}, right? Too bad, because you can breed for Aerial Ace on {torchic} if you have a female one.
Thunderpunch beats Hidden Power Ice, again because Hidden Power usually has lousy power. Or perhaps Slash, for more critical hits - give it a Scope Lens and it's a Critical-Hit {blaziken} or Critiken, which is often useful for getting an attack boost to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat...

What if I dropped both {salamence} and {torkoal}, and instead use {rhydon}? His attack and defense are lower, but it frees up slot for a pokemon to complement him and {starmie}. I mean, his attack pool is basically the same as Salamence, and has the same physical weaknesses as Torkoal (Cept Rock). And if I did do that, what would be a good pokemon to complement them?

Is THAT balanced?

Just reminding. Vaporeon is standard except no defense EVs and 156 sp.def and acid armour over hp electric.

salamence is also standard... rock slide or brick break?

gardevoir has 224 sp.atk, 32 sp.def, 252 spd, with t-bolt, ice punch, psychic and calm mind.

Hmm...
I'd get dragon breath or dragon claw, regardless.

false swipe is good for catching shinies. But no screech.

What about the battle tower (RuSa) or the Fronteir (Emerald)?

elite42 - that looks good. Brick break on salamence takes care of t-tar, while rock slide hits dodrio and foe salamence/dragonite.

Breeding another Treecko and training another bunch of levels are painful...

Thanks for noting the false swipe for shinies

Frontier will be a completely new team with many crossbreed, I care about that later.

No, I meant that thats all fine, however, for the battle fronteir, consider giving sceptile crunch and dragonbreath/dragon claw.
