Ok......what does Necromancy have to do with spam or an online forum.................................................................................... Clarification if you would please...

Necromancy is posting in an old topic. Some people seem to think all necromancy is bad (not going to name names), but I personally think it's only bad if the reply is only one or two words and adds nothing to the discussion (i.e spam). If it's something that's well thought-out, contributes, and even restarts the discussion for people who didn't see it the first time, then it should be OK.

Me too. I never bothered about my post count until i hit another rank. Post count is just a way of seeing how active you are on the forum, and also the "Posts per day" in your profile. But that's it.

I'm no longer bothered about my rank because it'll probably always be Gym Leader.

Necromancy is perfectly fine sometimes. For example, a question was left unanswered for months, and after that a new member signs up and posts the answer to the question. Now that's a useful case of necromancy, and it won't be frowned upon.

I'm fairly new here (unlike most everyone else who has relpied), and I thought the Unknown Dungeon sounded like a good idea, especially if messages sent there didn't count for rank. It would be a great place to see what not to do, to embarrass/point out spammers, and I don't think it would scare away newbies...at least, I think it's a great idea. So, for another person's opinion on it... :)

Quite frankly I think Spammers should be pointed out. It was their decision to act as stupid as they did so let them suffer the consequences.

Let's have the rank of "Psypoke SpamKing". I see people who've only been here for a month and a half and their posts have way soared over mine.

I think that's a pretty good idea...maybe if someone's caught spamming multiple times or something they can get that rank...and I still think the Unknown Dungeon is a good idea.

That wouldn't be a punishment, as that would still them allow them to do what they were given the Mark Twain for. I say the real punishment is to keep your idea, but make it so only they can post in there, and not anywhere else. And everyone else can read what they post in there. Pretty much like a, "help! please!".

I don't know...that may be a little strong...maybe they could have a probation period in there or something.

Lol, that makes it a double post by you! Lol!

Being serious now. You guys are right, there's got to be some way of stopping the Spammers. I invited my friend from school here, and already everytime she has posted has been offtopic and spam. She doesn't even like Pokemon! I told her when I invited her exactly what to do and where to post to keep on the Mods good sides, but she didn't listen.

My point is, sometimes no matter how many times you tell someone something, they still don't listen

Alright, I have a decent example of a possible spammer. This guy joined not more than a week ago, and he's already up to 54 posts -- 10.8 posts per day. Unless you're EXTREMELY active and have a lot of time on your hands, pulling that off takes a good amount of spam. People like that get annoying...!

Editor's Note: This had actual names, but I took them out.

I know I'm just a "pokefan" talking to a "superior" but... swift53, should you be pointing names in here? I really don't know, but it doesn't seem nice... can't you just PM him? And I'm sure the mods/admins know a spammer when they see one, somehow this doesn't seem right.
Sorry if I'm being a jerk...

As has been stated before, the number of pokeballs beneath your name doesn't show authority unless those pokeballs happen to be white or... colour of Admin pokeballs.

To the matter at hand, in this case, Blackwind, you're quite right. A PM may have been a little politer.

Oh, I was just showing an example, didn't mean to be mean. I'll edit it.

Also, don't treat me like a superior, because I'm not. You're a member, I'm a member, we're equal! I'm as equal to you as I am equal to Undeadcutlet. The only time you should take seniorty into consideration is when you're talking to a Gym Leader, Frontier Brain, or an Elite Four.

Thats not really proof or an example of spamming, that just means he or she posted alot in a short period of time. Now if the post doesnt contribute nothing to the topic at hand and its completly random or just one word replys then yes it could be spam.

That is true, the Psypoke Staff includes Gym Leaders(Moderators), Frontier Brains(Global Moderators[Moderate all forums]) and the Elite Four(The four Administrators of Psypoke), Every other title is just a title for 'bragging rights' which is dependent on your post count.

No, this poster had posts like "idk" and various two words lines. I had a link, but I don't want to pick on this guy. But anyway, you're right, sometimes people are really fast constructive posters. The problem is, sometimes they aren't, and that's the *grr* part.

I think we should lay down the law: BAN. temporary bans the first time telling them what they did, that they shouldnt do it again, and the next offense is permanent.

Whoa buddy! That would be too harsh! Think, almost every member post SPAM right after they sign up, so the Admins would litteraly banning everybody.
And only 10% of all members stay active and get over 100 posts.
Also, most banned members ditch the forum, so once again Psypoke would not get any new members.

Well, it's not and will never be my problem.
Honestly, I have no sympathy for anybody with a "Shame" rank, they messed up, nobody except the spammer did anything.

I'm sure Misty Kat did more than just that. We don't ban people immediately for these more minor mistakes; multiple-posting and the like warrant at most a Probation if it only occurs a few times.
