"Eh, thanks," he muttered, taking Ellya's hand. "You don't have to...uh..." His face felt hot again as the gunner dusted him of. What the hell's wrong with me? "Thanks," he said again, taking a few steps back to where he was standing next to Nikolas. He figured the farther he stayed away from the dark haired girl, the less odd he felt.

((Edit: Well, I'll be heading back to Texas tomorrow, but I can't go home 'cause of Hurricane Rita, so I'll be staying with my aunt. Don't know how much I'll be on during my stay...))

Adriaan heard the others and turned in time to see Ellya slip. Adriaan moved to the spot, willing to help even though she was unsure of how to, but she saw Silvien get under the falling girl (and get squashed). Adriaan tried not to laugh at the whole thing. She jumped off of the roof, landing next to Ellya. Adriaan's glance fell on the blushing Silvien and she had to force herself to keep a straight face. Instead, Adriaan turned to Ellya. "That's great, but what if we don't want to race?" Adriaan was glad to hear her voice back to its normal carrying whisper. She glanced at all of them, her eyes sudying each of them. "What happens if we get seperated?"

"Don't worry about it!" Ellya said, walking over to Adriaan, she leant over and whispered in the other girl's ear, "we can just pretend to race anyway, don't worry." She leant back and gave Adriaan a scheming wink.

"It's getting late. Perhap we should hurry." Silvien looked up at the darkening sky, holding his bothersome bangs out of his eyes with one hand. "A desert can get cool real fast," he went on, looking back down at Ellya and Adriaan. "Wouldn't want to catch a cold, would we?"

"Okay, let's hurry back to Mr. Bogg's racing grounds," Ellya said.

It was dark when they reached their destination, night had fallen fast and the air had gotten colder, but a nice, warm light came through the windows of the house in front of them. Ellya walked forward and pushed open the door. "Mr. Bogg, we're back!" She called into the house, stepping inside.

"Hello, hello! Kupo!" the Moogle cheered, flying up to them. "This way. Kupo! Follow me." And he led them through the back door, out into an open area where three wooden chocobo stalls sat. "This one. Kupo!" He fluttered over to the small building on the far right, inserting a key into the door and kicking it open. "Ta-da!" Inside, the floor was covered in hay, but one area had been cleared of disgusting ground matter and three separate pallets had been made for them. "There you go. Kupo! I'll bring you your dinner now."

"Hmm..." Silvien took a step towards the 'beds', giving them an appraising look. "I got it. Steven you get that one, Nathan you get the one next to it, and the girls and I will share this one." He turned around, beaming at them all cheekily.

"Right. Nikolas. Sorry," Silvien said distractedly, sitting down on one of the pallets that was made with an ugly brown quilt.

"Dinner time! Kupo!" Mr. Bogg burst through the doors again, balancing plates on his arms, legs, and head. "Bon apatite!" The gun mage took his food, looking down at the green mesh. "What is it?" he asked, prodding the green...blob.

"Steamed gysahl greens! Kupo!" He blinked at Silvien, noticing his disgruntled expression. "What? The Chocobos love it. Kupo!"

Adriaan took her plate gratefully and ate, glad to be given free food, no matter what it was. She glanced at the flying...Mr.Bogg. He was such an interesting creature, pity they were stealing the chocobos from him. After she had scarfed her food down, Adriaan glared at Silvien. "You know, I think it'd be better if you curl up in some little corner, away from me. If you're too close, an accident could happen..." Adriaan's cold gaze hovered over Silvien, a chilling smile on her face as she let the threat hang.

Ellya quickly dug in to the green mush, savouring every bit. "This," said Ellya sincerely between mouthfulls, "is delicious. Thank you Mr. Bogg!" She was quickly finished and put down her plate. She took a small canteen from her waist and poured the water over the plate, all the time rubbing with a small cloth. When she picked it up it was sparkling clean, and she handed it over to the little flying teddy bear. She then stood up and walked over to the beds, pressed on the middle one with a fist, shook here head, and sat down on the floor. "I'll sleep on the ground if you don't mind."

Silvien dumped the contents of his plate off to the side, covered it up with hay before returning the dish to Mr. Bogg. "Succulent," he said, almost sarcastically as the Moogle took his plate.

"Glad you like it. Kupo! After all, I was known as the Chef of Kings back in the day!" He swiftly rounded up all the platters. "Get some sleep. Busy day tomorrow. Kupo!"

When the Chocobo owner had left, Silvien began making himself comfortable by setting his new shades off to the side and untying his hair. "Don't worry about me," he sighed, gaze shifting to Adriaan. "I can sleep anywhere."

Ellya looked over at the place where Silvien had secretly dropped his food, back at Silvien, and then gave him a smile and a wink. She then strecthed her arms, curled up, and fell asleep.

Adriaan smiled coldy at Silvien. "Good." Adriaan turned her back on the man and walked over to the cot nearest a wall. She lay down, closed her eyes, and started breathing slowly, making it appear that she had immediately fallen asleep. In truth, she was awake, checking her surroundings for danger, but it was how she always slept so that no one could sneak up on her.

((I'm going to time skip if it's okay with everyone.))

"Up! Up! Rise and shine my little racers! Kupo!" Mr. Bogg came bursting into the building (as he always did), zooming around and tapping everyone on the head. "C'mon, I was up all night working my pom-pom off getting ready."

Silvien sat bolt upright, mumbling. "And don't...forget the liver......mn..."

"Hurry, hurry! Kupo! You won't believe the crowd!"

"Urg...can I brush my teeth first?"

"No time for hygiene! Kupo! Hurry so I can introduce you to your racing partners. I'll be waiting outside. Kupo!"

"Ku...po......ku..." The gun mage lay down, curling back up next to Adriaan.

Adriaan woke up and saw Silvien sleeping right next to her. With a cry of disgust, she pushed him off of the cot. "Get away from me!" She slid off the cot and walked around the sprawled Silvien, shuddering. She must have fallen deeply asleep, a rare thing for her. She stretched quickly and looked around at the others, making sure everyone was getting up. She checked that her knives were in their spots. She pulled one out and started sharpening it as she walked out of the stall area, more as protection against Silvien than against anything in the desert. If he did anything like that again, Adriaan didn't care if he was the most important person in the world, she was going to give him something he wouldn't forget--like a missing appendage.

"Ow!" he grunted, curling up even more. "That was my stomach, thank you. And I didn't mean to intrude on your personal space. It just so happens I'm an active sleeper--meaning I roll around a lot." He blinked up innocently at the agressive Adriaan before reaching for his sunglasses and following her lethargically.

In truth Ellya had been awake for the past three hours before Mr. Bogg had come around to wake them up. She was a very light sleeper, and usually slept less than 5 hours a night, but she wanted to try something new. "Wow! That sleeping in sure was fun!" she said to the rest of them brightly, "now let's get out there and race some Chocobos." She walked out of the stable, happily pushing awake those who were still in bed.

Nikolas was still in his bed type thingy, snoring quite loudl too. He has always been a heavy sleeper; a hurricane probably couldn't wake him up. After a few moments his finally rose up adn was awake.

He yawned, "Oh yeah, today's the big race, I'm so...excited. I can't wait!"

"I'm going to die."

Once everyone was outside, the winged animal took them to the stable nextdoor, doing his usual violent kicking open of the door, followed by various startled cries of 'wark!' from inside. The ground was littered with hay, as well as yellow feathers and half-eaten gysahl greens. There were six stalls, three on either side, each occupied with a massive, ten-foot-tall yellow bird.

"I claim this one!" Silvien declared, running up to the first Chocobo on the left, which he found to have the most muscular legs. He picked up a raw gysahl green laying outside of the stall and held it up, tapping the bird on the beak. "And I dub thee...Bucky, the racing champion!" The feathery animal cocked his head, giving the dark haired man a perplexed look, before hungrily chomping down on his hand. "Wah! No, Bucky! No!" the mage shrieked, flailing wildly. "Chocobos don't eat people!"

Adriaan tried not to laugh too hard as Silvien was bitten hard--after all, he deserved it. Adriaan pulled a vegetable out of her pack, something she carried with her just in case, and walked up to the smallest chocobo, since it fit her stature more. She slowly offered the vegetable and after inspecting it (and Adriaan) carefully, it accepted the vegetable. Adriaan stepped up to it and studied it. "And you, I'll call Drake." Adriaan was thinking about her family more and named the chocobo after her brother.

Ellya came into the stable after Adriaan, biting her bottom lip. She walked over to Silvien nervously, grabbed his arm and said, "Oh no! There's so many p-people out there! I d-d-didn't know there were going to be so many! I'll be too scared to race!"

Nikolas came in after Ellya, looking at all the Chocobos. He noticed that Adriaan and Silvien had already chosen and named thier's, os he might as well do the same. He took a quick look at the 4 remaining Chocobos and evntually chose oe that was almost as nervous as he was.

"And your name is?" he questioned the bird, who looked at Nikolas curiously. The large bird let out a soft chirp and Nikolas nodded. "Charles it is then." he said as he petted the left side of Charles.

"I wonder if they think I really speak Chocobo?", he thought, snickering a bit at the thought.

"Hey, don't worry so much," he reassured her, using his usual smooth-talking voice. "So hundreds of thousands of who knows how many people are waiting outside, eager to watch us race. What's the worse that can happen, eh? Chances are not one of them knows how you are or you them, and you're never gonna see them again anyway. But if you're that uncomfortable..." He grunted as he heaved a leather saddle onto Bucky's back, carefully adjusting the belts around the animal's belly. "...I'll do the steering. You just make sure I don't end up as some sand wyrm's snack."

"Tick-tock, people. Kupo!" Mr. Bogg urged, still hovering near the ceiling. "Can't keep the gil waiting."

Adriaan rolled her eyes. Just her luck: to get stuck with a creep and a weird flying creature that would have married money if he could have. She made sure her saddle was on and she got on Drake. "Come on, boy, let's go." She checked to see how everyone else was coming with their chocobos, guessing they didn't have too long before the "race" started.

Silvien pulled himself up onto the saddle, moving the cloth tied to his waist over to the right side so that it was out of the way. "Hyah!" he nudged the Chocobo's sides with his heels, but the bird didn't budge. "C'mon, move!" "Wark!" Bucky chirped, reluctantly stepping outside of his stall. The mage tugged on the reins as he attempted to guide the yellow giant out the door, but Bucky was proving to be more trouble than he was worth. "Move, you birdbrain!"

It took longer than expected (two minutes, at least) before Silvien got Bucky outside of the stable (with Ellya, hopefully), the large Chocobo tagging behind Drake. "You better have better luck controlling that thing during the race or you won't last ten seconds. Kupo!" Mr. Mogg scoffed before flying ahead of them.

"Oh, shut up," Silvien muttered under his breath.
