Post subject: Role Playing Forum Rules [Updated 3Oct05]

Hi Everyone,

The new Role Playing forum is now open.
This forum needs to maintain a high level of quality.

Below are just the temporary rules until the new mods post their own rules. I'll be watching over this forum for the first few days to monitor the behaviour here.

Silly replies are not wanted in this forum.
Innappropriate posts will result in a warning, and if it happens again, a ban.
Remember this is a family orientated forum, so watch your language.
No trolling, flaming or overly violent posts.

Thank you for adhereing to the rules, and enjoy your role playing!

Amphy

Edit by Gryphflame:

General Roleplaying Rules
These will be strictly enforced by the mods. Do not disobey them

-Read the Roleplaying Basics thread! The terms it explains should be common knowledge to all roleplayers

-No chatspeak IC, use full sentences and proper English. Some spelling mistakes can be forgiven, but if you're being deliberately lazy and just not writing properly you will be asked to edit your posts.

-Do not godmode or powerplay. These terms are explained in the Roleplaying Basics thread, and this will be enforced.

-This is a family forum, so watch your language and don't get too violent or, eh, "romantic". As a general guideline, if you aren't likely to see it in a Disney animated classic (Aladdin, The Lion King, Snow White) then don't do it. Keep it especially clean OOC- trolling and flaming will not be tolerated

-All new roleplays must be okayed by a moderator in the Application sticky. Don't just go off and create a board without asking or it will be locked until you receive permission.

-Beyond these rules, the creator of any individual roleplaying thread is in charge of his or her own roleplay. Their rules should be taken as law, unless they contradict the rules given above.

Suggested Rules
Although not as strongly enforced, breaking these is frowned upon

-Posts should be at least two lines long- frequent one liners are a very, very bad thing.

-Do not create "perfect" characters or Mary Sues, these will usually be banned from entering a roleplay.

-Don't try and take someone else's roleplay and twist it to your own advantage, especially if they have a set plotline.

-If the roleplay has gone on for longer than a couple of pages, ask before joining. Many roleplays will require you to ask before joining even if it's just started.

Edit by TK:
- If you're including characters from the forums in your role play, please seek their permission first. Many people do not like being portrayed in a way other than what they perceive themselves to be.

Can you join more than one RP?

EDIT:Ok thanks Magus

Yes, Pokemaster you can it's not like the Teams where you can only be in one. As long as you don't lose track of what RPs your in and what characters are for what RP, you'll be fine.

Sure, but I have to warn you: it gets hard keeping track of all of them sometimes. :P

Can you be more specific? I'm not looking for "after there have been 72 posts" but I would like an aproximate number of pages.

As Gryph said, after a COUPLE of pages, now to me a couple of pages equals 2 pages :)

But if most of those pages consist of people signing up, then what?

Author: Waker of Chaos [ Fri Dec 16, 2005 2:41 pm ]
Post subject:

Then you sign up if you wish. That should be obvious. If the role playing has gone on for a few pages, not just people signing up.

This is an announcement so hopefully this will not be considerd necromancy.
Is there a certain battle system that isnt for tourny's

There is no roleplaying battle system, this is a freestyle RP board, not a d20 system board or similar. If you want a systemed roleplay, you'll have to make your own and find an online die to keep it honest, or if you just want to fight others I'd suggest downloading netbattle.

Do you mean for DM'd RPs like my tournament?

If so, then the rules are whatever the DM makes them. I just made mine that way because it seemed fair.

Maybe it's a stupid question, but what is a "Mary-Sue"?

Gryphflame wrote:
Mary Sue(s): Essentially a "perfect" character- one without any real flaws. If you find yourself pretending you are/wishing you were your character, or if you're trying to "win" the roleplay, chances are you have a Sue on your hands. They can be fun to write for at first, but they're sure to annoy the others you're roleplaying with. Remember to incorporate realistic flaws when creating a character- not just "she's cutely clumsy" or "he has a fiery temper and defies authority figures". Naming yourself after your character online, or going by the same name, is considered a sure sign of a Mary Sue in many circles. There is such a thing as a benign Sue, but they are not to be attempted by new writers.

There you go.

I'm not a moderator, or admin or anything special like that, but most likely the awsner is yes.

I also have a question.(Since you have to have 25 post to start a RP.) :Can you join a RolePlay with Under 25 posts?

Yes. It doesn't matter what your post count is to join someone else's rp.
