WHY THIS TEMPLE, BUILT BY FLESHLINGS? boomed some unseen voice. It wasn't speaking in a language, persay, or even with sounds, but its words were very clear. WHY, DEAD ONE, SHOULD WE CHOOSE TO MAKE PEACE WITH THIS TOWER?

Cassius turned back to Winona and the others, looking for input on an answer to the question. Two of the trainers had lived in Fortree all their lives, after all- who better to tell the spirits why it was a good place for a temple?

Ginger, still being held by Sidney, looked around, wondering where the voice had come from. "Because it's a nice place? And the humans will be sad if you don't--" The trainer put a hand over the Absol's mouth. Hopefully, whoever had shouted didn't hear Ginger's insufficient answer. But Sidney didn't have a reply either, and she looked to Winona.

"Here me," the gym leader said back, loud enough for everyone to hear. "This tower was built to pay tribute to the spirits. Make peace and we will honor you now and forever."

Mike was trying not to looked scared, although it wasn't easy. After a little adventure with the psychotic, sacrifical ghosts, you tend to be less scared of them, especailly since one of his friends was one, albeit in a human shell. He decided to remain quiet, in an attempt not to anger any upset spirits.

Cassius turned back to the temple, repeating the other gymleader's answer. There was a long silence as the smoke around Cassius seemed to be considering the offer. WE GRANT THE FLESHLINGS THEIR TEMPLE, DEAD ONE, AND THEY MUST IN TURN CONTINUE TO HONOUR THE FOREST AS THEY DO NOW. IF HUMAN GREED TAKES HOLD, BE WARNED, THERE WILL BE VENGEANCE.

With that, the ominous presence in the temple vanished. Cassius waited a moment, then laughed. "Easiest 'exorcism' I've had in years" he said. "And Pan calls /me/ melodramatic"

"You're not allowed to laugh anymore!" The dark Pokemon shouted once the coast was clear. "Face it! You have a creepy laugh!" She wrinkled her nose. "And what was wrong with my answer? It's true!"

Sidney set the Absol down, stepping up next to Cassius. "Congratulations, Mister King of the Dead," the trainer said, smiling. But her expression changed to concern. "Your arm," she said, gently grabbing it and inspecting the gash in the cloth. "That wasn't there. Did that just happen?"

He fingered one edge of the tear, frowning. "Nothing a needle and thread won't fix- they didn't even scratch skin" he replied, "but I wish they'd kept their fangs to themselves. They were real, yes, but their bark is a lot worse than their bite. Mostly they just wanted to make sure humans kept them in the loop, even if they didn't have any objections to what they were doing. And you" he turned to Ginger and switched languages, "miss my-appearance-foretells-great-disaster, aren't one to talk about creepiness."

"Yeah? Well, doom on you." She pointed at the ghost, smirking. "Don't be surprised if you get struck by lightning." And speaking of lightning. "Hey, Pan! I think you can come in now!"

"Stop shouting, Ginger," Sidney hissed, still uneasy. What if the spirits were still there?

"Bravo, bravo." Winona joined the others, applauding. "I can't thank you enough, Cassius. I don't know what we would've done if you weren't here."

Mike looked back and forth a few times, making sure nothing was out of the ordianry, and there were no sign of any spirits. He took in a deep sigh in relief, "Man, that was freaky, almost as freaky as those psychotic sacrifical ghosts we had to deal with just to even get here.", Mike exhaled.

"I'm glad I could help" replied Cassius, "and don't worry, Sidney- even if they're still around I don't think they're going to attack anyone."

Pandora peeked in through the door, narrowing his eyes. "Aww nuts, none of the evil spirits ate Ginger" he muttered, floating over to his trainer.

"Sorry to disappoint you," Ginger snapped. "But thanks to Cassius here, those spirits didn't stand a...ghost...of a chance. Wahah!" She started laughing, wiping away invisible tears. "I kill myself! Get it?! Kill?! I just made another joke without even meaning to!"

"I guess all that's left now is the festival." Sidney could hardly contain her excitement. Food and entertainment was waiting for them.

"You still want that yukata?" Winona asked Michael. "I can send my Skarmory to get you one. But I think all we have left are the Oddish pattern ones."

Pandora rolled his eyes. "If you're going to make jokes, at least try to make them vaguely decent."

"We better go outside and let everyone know the tower has been purified," Winona said, walking away. "They'll be really excited. Now they'll have something worth celebrating."

Cassius followed the other gymleader, dusting off his sleeve in a futile effort to brush away the rip. Ah well, at least none of them had attacked the humans, or Ginger… well, a scratch on the darkling would have been easier to deal with.

Playing to the crowd, Cassius paused before the door to make his hair rise up, hovering in a ghostly manner and all but screaming "SPOOKY HAUNTER!" along with his red eyes. Pandora sighed. "How predictable, you never would pass off a chance to show off. You're so mel-"

"If the next word out of your mouth is 'melodramatic', then I'm not the only one who's predictable" replied Cassius, displaying fangs as he grinned at his conpanion.

"First, we make the announcement," Winona said. "Then...we party!"

"I can't wait!" Sidney began daydreaming, trying to decide what all she was going to do. There was so much. But her thoughts were cut off by a horrible sound.

"Cassius! The friendly ghost! The friendliest ghost around!" Ginger sang, doing a type of march to go along with it. It was so awful it made Perish Song sound like a lullaby.

"Wait a sec. This whole journey you've been trying to convince me what a nice guy you are. I finally trust you, and now you're turning evil? Make up your mind!"

They eventually came up to a large group of people laughing and socializing. "Make way!" The gym leader shouted, and the crowd separated, making a path from the small band of trainers and Pokemon to walk through.

"I've been trying to convince you I'm not going to eat your trainer while you're not looking, I never said I was giving up on the ghost-dark rivalry" replied Cassius, switching to pokemon-speak so it might not look to the humans like he was in a petty argument with a common darkling.

Pandora grinned, "that's telling 'er, Cass. Does this mean you won't stop me if I make plans to tar and feather her in her sleep?"

"You forget I bring disaster to those who rub me the wrong way," she warned. "And you're right about that rivalry thing. In fact, I insist on battling you before we go our separate ways. I'm still miffed about that, you know. You had it easy last time. Rex is a pushover and Lulu is too gentle. I can show you a real fight."

The trainer of the two sighed, shaking his head. "If we have time, Ginger, I'll try and spare a few minutes to wipe the floor with you, but I can't make any promises" he said, still in pokemon-speak.

"Attention!" Winona shouted over the fervent buzz of the crowd, every single one of the festival goers stopping to hear what the gym leader had to say. "The tower has been purified and is now open! Thanks to Cassius here, who came all the way from Lavendar in Kanto!" Cheers erupted around them, people throwing their hands and hats into the air. "Now the festival can official begin! Everyone have fun! That's an order!"
