Another trainer, Ben was his name, was walking by, his poliwhirl wandering around beside him. He noticed two people looking like they were about to start a battle. He jogged over to them, but started to think twice when he noticed the absol cleaning it's blade on the grass next to its trainer. He shook his head, pushing away his dislike of absol. He scratched his upper arm, where an absol slashed him when he was young.
"Hey, you two! With the absol and haunter! Hi! Would you like to double battle? I'm trying to train my lombre, Juan, and he needs someone to battle."
I fingered Juan's pokeball, wishing it good luck.

Sidney did the same, leaving a few yards of space between her and Cassius. Ginger took her place between her trainer and the enemy, acting like Christmas had come early.

The purple haired trainer flicked his eyes between the absol and me. I shivered as he caught my eye.
"Would you like to have a double battle? We could find another person."
The absol walked over to me and sniffed my foot. I flinched.
"Why not? My name's Sidney. Ginger seems to like you."
"Yeah...Anyway, let's try to find someone else."

((WPM, please don't control my character- even something like controlling where anothe player's character looks is a form of godmoding/poweplaying.

Edit: looks like Flannery beat me to it X.x Someone should post some info about standard RP rules and terms, since there seem to be a fair number of writers here who don't normally roleplay.))

"I'm afraid bringing in more of my pokemon wouldn't help me much," admitted Cassius, "all of my pokemon are ghost types. I'm sure Pandora will do fine, though, he has one or two tricks up his sleeves… figuratively speaking." Pandora grinned a little, spinning around his disembodied hands to illustrate his trainer's point.

"A double battle would be just fine, though" he added, glancing at the other trainer. "If two of us use one pokemon each, and the other uses two, it should end up a fair fight."

((It's okay WPM, I've seen far worse cases of godmoding from people who /did/ know the rules, and everyone makes a few mistakes while learning ;)))

I was trying to place myself as far away from that absol as possible. I scratched my arm again.
"Well, shall we start this shindig?" I said, fingering Juan's ball again.
Poliwhirl tugged my pant leg. I patted his head, telling him that he would be in the next battle.

"Well, I think Ginger really wants to battle his Haunter, so it's up to...I'm sorry, what's your name?" she asked the new trainer. "Anyway, it's up to you whose side you join. We both have more than one Pokemon." Ginger rolled her eyes. They were just about to battle and they got interrupted. How frustrating.

"Alright then." She reached for a Pokeball at her waist. "Silvien, come out!" Tossing the ball into the air, it burst open with a brilliant flash of light, releasing the serpent-like Pokemon contained inside. The Milotic released an extended battle cry, sounding more like a sweet song than an actual bellow. "My Absol and Milotic versus your Pokemon. Choose now."

Pandora sighed a little, annoyed at having to work with another pokemon, but Cassius had trained him a little in two-on-two fights, for the occasional double gym battle, and maybe with a teammate he could show that stupid absol who was boss. Preferably a teammate who could use rain dance or something, and get that blasted sunlight out of his face.

"We're ready when you are" said Cassius, smiling a little at the new trainer's nickname for him. He idly fingered one of his other pokeballs, wondering if Pandora was really the best choice for the match, but if the second opponent was a milotic... perhaps they could win after all.

Cassius knew full well there wasn't much he could do about the absol, but if the Milotic was going after his ally, there was certainly something he could do about that. He smiled to himself, getting into the swing of the battle and putting on that signature expression of his that every gym challenger he'd ever had would describe as "downright creepy". "Haunter, haunt haunter (Pandora, thunderbolt)" he said, speaking openly in the pokemon language; another of his favorite scare tactics.

Pandora giddily obeyed, summoning the electric attack and tossing it at the milotic. He'd know the attack all his life, and remembered it even all these years after death.

Sidney panicked. She didn't know Haunter learned Thunderbolt! Then again, she never owned one to begin with. "Look out! Mir--" She didn't have to finish her order. Silvien shielded himself in a reflective viel. When the powerful lightning attack stuck him, he doubled over in pain...but the attack bounced off, coming straight back at Pandora. Ginger continued to dance as her fellow Pokemon battled on the front lines. If Silvien could just hold out a bit longer...

Pandora panicked a little when he saw his own attack zooming back at him, but the reflection had somewhat scattered his concentrated beam of lightning. Curling up quickly, a wave of electricity passed over him, but he emerged from it only lightly singed.

Michael quickly took notice of the attack from Cassius, and in a panic returned his Electrode into its Pokeball in a similar flash of light that brought him out. The Nightshade attack then hit Michael, sending him back about 15 feet and on the ground, dazed.

When he regained consionsness a few moments later, several things went through his mind. I shouldn't of sent Electrode out in the first place; if I had known she was using 2 Pokemon, then I wouldn't of done that. What bothers me most though, is how that guy did Nightshade. It just doesn't make any sense.

"He's right dude. It was a stupid mistake of mine not to see that she had sent out two Pokemon. Although, I'm still wondering how he did a Ghost Type attack, that'll most likely be answered after the battle. Right now, all we can do is wait for the battle to end. Anyway, I'm terribly sorry to both of you for acting so idioticly like that.", Michael managed to say.

"Holy, I've been daydreaming! Sorry!"
"Juan, use Rain Dance!"
When the lombre started dancing, rain clouds slowly blotted out the sun's ray. When the rain fell, water collected in the lily pad on lombre's head.
"Good, watch out for that absol! She's swords dancing!"

((There's such a thing as two or more battles going on at once. But right now Gryphflame, WPM, and I are battling.))

Ginger felt the effects Pandora's attack immediately and tripped over her own feet in the middle of her dance. Sidney was just as confused as her Pokemon. Did he just use Night Shade? And he said he was a gym leader as well.

But now was not the time to figure out these new twists. "Ginger! Taunt!" The Absol staggered to her feet, swaying a bit, then turned her back to Pandora. She wagged her 'tail', practically mooning the Haunter. If she could speak, she would have said, 'Give me your best shot, punk!'

Lucky for Silvien, the delay gave him just enough time to use Recover, his special move. The rain also helped to sooth his wounds. "Use Surf!" his trainer commanded.
