Blake nodded back, and turned back to the pokemon.

After awhile, he decided to walk up to the large rock to sit and overlook the water again. Blake relaxed and awaited for the briefing.

I noticed it when Blake climbed up the rock I was leaning against, and relaxed. I relaxed as well, hoping that the briefing would come soon.

First things first: wilfred888, all four available slots have been taken, as you would have known had you taken the time to read both my original post explaining the RP and the subsequent posts made by those who applied in time. I am afraid you'll have to try your hand at a Brutal Four applications when they are made available.

Moving swiftly on, time for my apology. Everyone, I am very sorry for my sudden departure but it was the first time off I've had for more than two years, and I needed it.

Now I am back, and I thank you for your patience; let's get on with things! The prospect of this RP genuinely excites me, I can't wait!

OOC: Obviously I expect everyone to read any post made in the thread, but posts headed with "Professor Rowan" are integral to the plot and movement of the story, so pay special attention to these posts.

Professor Rowan
Rowan looked on at the children with a delight; a delight he hid somewhere between his usual cold demeanour and his guilt.

Guilt. He chuckled inwardly at the word; he had never felt guilty in all his life, but after Oak had contacted him from Mt. Silver and they formulated their plan, he felt guilt for the first time.

They were sending four children to do battle with a relentless criminal genius and his brainwashed grunts. Team Rocket would stop at nothing to attain whatever they set out for. How could four children stop them? Four children who weren't even Pokémon trainers yet! The whole thing would seem preposterous from the outside, but Rowan knew they would prevail. Three young children had already taken on the entire of Team Rocket alone and triumphed; Red, legendary Indigo League Champion of Kanto was the first, then Gold and Kris of Johto did the same three years later.

He had first considered Dawn for the job, but she was arrogant and not all that competant; then Cynthia, but she was far too tied to this region, and Celestic Town. Lucas was the obvious choice, but he had just became the Sinnoh League Champion, and completed the Sinnoh Pokédex. Rowan couldn't bring himself to ask such a task of one who had voluntarily changed their life for the sake of his research to not only leave the country and lose his title as Champion, but to do so knowing he would be risking his life. So the only alternative was four new recruits.

"They'll be okay." he thought to himself, forcing optimism over the realism professors incorporated into their lives.

He spoke aloud for the first time for almost half an hour, three of his new-starts had began to bond, while Jacob had wandered off into the nearby forest, presumably to let his Turtwig begin to trust him. Hopefully the others would fill him in when he returned.

"Children. Listen carefully. This is important. Kanto, and perhaps the whole world is in grave danger."

The three stopped and looked at each other, then Rowan. He contined:

"Giovanni, infamous criminal genius and leader of the international crime syndicate Team Rocket, has resurfaced; apparently intimidated by the actions of Cyrus of Team Galactic, he has redoubled his efforts at dominating Kanto and, if he isn't stopped, the world.

I received an urgent message from Professor Samuel Oak, he is currently in hiding atop Mt. Silver with Red, Kanto's most powerful Pokémon Trainer. Red is protecting Professor Oak there, where Rocket members are unlikely to show up. They attempted to abduct the professor in order to use his knowledge to further their goals. Pokémon trainers Gold and Kris of Johto are currently on alert, and are protecting Professor Elm in the Slowpoke Well of Azalea Town. Similarly, the Pokémon trainer May Birch is defending her father, Professor Birch in Pacifidlog Town in southern Hoenn.

I have my own means of protection, but the ex-Champion Cynthia is on standby, in case things... get out of hand. The Rockets may come for me soon too.

I have watched the four of you for several years, you were handpicked from dozens of others for this mission.

I am truly sorry to ask this of you all, so young and inexperienced.

For the time being, Kanto is as normal to the general public, people are going about their lives unaware of what is happening under the surface; but Pokémon are going missing, important scientists are going missing, and the threat is beginning to rise. Giovanni will be watching you as soon as you set foot on mainland Kanto, so I want you all to take the Indigo League Challenge. Collect the badges of Kanto while you take out Team Rocket, become powerful Pokémon trainers - you will need to be.

I will give you each a National Pokédex, and a one-way ticket on the Sea-Gallop inter-regional ferry to Cinnabar Island.

Once you arrive, Hoenn League Champion Brandon will be waiting for you and will escort you to Pallet Town, where you will rest up with Professor Oak's aides in his lab. Then you will begin your journey and your mission.

Do you accept? It is understandable if you choose to stay in Sinnoh, where it's safe; for the time being."

Rowan cleared his throat, hoarse from the lengthy explanation...

"But you four are meant to be heroes, it is written in the books of Canalave Library that "in times of strife in far off lands, where no man, woman or child is able to help, a quartet of young adventurers will set out to vanquish the evils in foreign lands, these heroic youths will be known as the Children of Sinnoh, the Warriors Who Learn." Rowan stood up straighter during his quotation, but quickly returned to his normal stance:

"It could all be nonsense, I'm a man of science, not lore; but a part of me believes that you are the Children of Sinnoh, and that you will vanquish Giovanni once and for all. What do you say?"

Blake stood in awe, but nodded seriously when asked the question, "Yeah," he spoke, "If I can help stop this guy, I'm definitely in."

I nodded, but still refused to speak. I continued to nod until I had made my decision clear. Luna even jumped up and 'barked' to help.

Jimmy looked down for a moment and though. If I go...I'll be leaving my friends and family. I won't see them again for awhile, possibly years. But if I help beat this guy...I'll be a hero. Jimmy smirked. Count me in Doc.

I sighed, a bit glad that the others had joined. I didn't want to be alone, and I had scoffed at the professor's last part. Safe? Here? Where have I ever felt safe?

OOC: From this post onwards, wild Pokémon are available. You can battle them for experience or capture them. There won't be a great selection now as we're only leaving Sinnoh, but once we get to Kanto, many Pokémon will become available. Feel free to catch one or two before we leave Sinnoh, information about available Pokémon on each of the routes we'll be travelling is at the botttom of this post.

Professor Rowan/Jacob
Jacob wandered up to the group, realising he had missed something. Turtwig was close at his side, the two now bonding quickly. "Sorry if I missed anything important professor." he apologized...

"Not to matter. Your companions will explain things to you later." He cut the young trainer of.

"Well then." the professor began solemnly, "I wish you all the best of luck; and a safe journey. Please make your way to Canalave City, there is a sailor there who has volunteered to take you to Cinnibar Island in Kanto. It will be a long trip, even on a ship as fast as the Sea Gallop, although I'm sure you'll use it as an oppurtunity to train and get to know each other." He turned to Dawn again, who had remained utterly silent for quite some time now, and whispered something; she promptly nodded and produced an aluminuim briefcase, with a combination lock. He entered the four digit number - 3325 - and the case popped open.

"Dawn, pass out five Poké Balls each to our young heroes." Dawn scowled at hearing the professor refer to these rookies as heroes, but readily obeyed. She resentfully thrusted the five Poké Balls into the hands of each of the cretins before her while Rowan fiddled with four red devices.

"There are your Pokédexes." he said, adjusting settings on one of them "These will document information on every Pokémon you meet and catch on your journey." He smiled, "I may be sending you on a dangerous mission, but you're still going to help me with my research." Rowan chuckled, making light of the situation for the sake of the children.

After he had handed them their Pokédexes and tickets to Kanto, Rowan stood back, admiring the children. They had a little more tenacity and confidence about them now they had their own Pokémon. And that meant hope.

"Alright then, you should get moving. Head to Jubilife City, north of Sandgem Town and then west to Canalave City. When you arrive there, look for a sailor named Eldritch, he will be taking you to Kanto. Goodbye and good luck."

As Dawn shoved five pokeballs at Jimmy, he gave her a sort of glare. Wow, jealous much? No matter...I'm gonna get stronger than all of them! Me and Bandit aren't gonna lose to anyone. Jimmy grinned and laughed lightly at his own thoughts. "Hmph...so now you've got us doing your homework too?" Jimmy smirked a bit, waiting eagerly for his pokedex to come.

I took the pokeballs, and put them on a belt that I had put around my waist. Luna sniffed them, and snuggled into me again.

As Blake placed the equipment and devices into his bag, his face lit up as he smiled, "Yeah! I can say goodbye to my family before we leave!"

Blake returned his pokemon and turned to sprint, but halted to turn back to the Professor and others, "I'll do my best, I promise you that," he nodded, his eyes glowing with courage.

"Well, see ya!" he waved as he ran off into the forest.

I watched as Blake left, and looked to the Professor sadly. At least he had people that would miss him...
I looked around. I guess that I should wait for Blake to come back before leaving.....

"So... we set out whenever Blake shows up, right?" Kipper asked from his cross-legged vantage atop a boulder, with Turtwig running around it, his face beaming.

"I can't believe we're gonna save the world, huh?" He said, trying to strike up a conversation with someone.

If he was gonna be saving the world with them, they should probably end up as friends, right?

I looked to Kipper, and nodded, smiling. It is odd....that we were chosen....however. I thought, no longer smiling, and I walked by Kipper, and let Luna splash in the water a bit.

Running as fast as he possibly could, he found himself right in front of the door of his own home, Sandgem. As soon as he could catch his breath, he opened the door to let himself in, "Hey, Mum! Abbey, Penny! I'm back! Where are you guys!" he called, dropping his bag, walking through the hall to stop by the door of his mother's room. Blake could hear sobbing.

"Hey, what's wrong...?" Blake pushed open the door, his eyes widening. There, by the bed, was his little sister Penny, sobbing deeply. Abbey, the older sister, was sadly overlooking the lump that was under the sheets.

Blake stepped into the room, each step getting closer as his heart sank deeper and deeper. He got onto his knees, and shortly lifted up the covers. It was his mum, and she had died.

After the screaming and crying, he and Abbey took a walk outside as the body was taken away. "What happened... She was alright...wasn't she? She was only sick..." Blake muttered.

"Mum, she was coughing up blood for about a year now. She did a good job to hide it from you two," Abbey replied.

Blake sighed, "I'm such a jerk... I should've been there, when she passed away..."

"No..." Abbey disagreed, "I think seeing you off on your own adventure was better. She was so happy."

Blake looked up, "But... I..." but he couldn't find the words to disagree with that. "Yeah... Mum always did want me to travel with pokemon someday..."

Abbey smiled, "I think this journey would be good for you, too."

"But...what about you and Penny?"

Abbey shook her head, "Don't worry about us, I can look after Penny. Besides, my boyfriend Daniel and me work together now, so I think we can manage."

Blake sighed, "Okay."

Picking up his things, Blake strapped up and headed for the door. Penny came running from outside to hug him, "Blake, this is goodbye again?" she asked holding on tightly.

Blake got down to hug back, "Yeah, but I'll come back. I promise."

Penny let go a little to look at his face sadly, "But I'll miss you."

"Yeah, I know. I'll miss you, too," he smiled weakly, "But I need you to be strong for me and look after your sister, okay?"

She nodded, "Okay, just as long as you catch me pokemon like you promised me before!"

Blake chuckled, "Of course! When I find the perfect one, I'll send it to you by computer, I promise!"

Waving goodbye to his sisters as they stood by the door, Blake set off to catch the next boat to Kanto, to restart his pokemon journey with his mum always in his memories and his heart.

((Blake should be in Route 202 unless we all just wanna skip to the boat, so feel free to bump into him anytime.))

As the trio were walking, Jimmy saw what seemed to be a boy catching up to them. "Hey....is that...Blake?" Jimmy pointed in his direction as the others turned their heads to face him. Bandit shrugged. "Chim?" "I told you, I'm not sure..." He looked back. Once Blake approached, Jimmy asked curiously, "So, how'd it go?"

Noticing Jimmy had stopped walking, Jacob stopped and looked.

"Yeah that's him." he said, as Blake approached. "You'd think he'd get his priorities right. We're out to save the world here."

Blake reached the group to catch up, "Uh, I'm a bit late..." he stopped, his head bowing down slowly shadowing his eyes, "...I'm sorry..." he apologised, a few tears falling into the ground, he shook a little.

He then continued walking in front to wipe his face, "Don't ask. Just some drama at home," he glared as he stared straight forward, "Let's just save the world."

Jimmy's face changed to a half frown. "Oh..." Jimmy saw a solemn tear drop from Blake's face. "Sorry if I brought anything up..." He glanced at Jacob and then to the ground. "So uhhh...where to?" He looked around at the others. "Any suggestions?"

"Don't know about you guys, but I'm heading Jubilife," he continued walking away, "You know, like we were told?" he snorted. Blake was in a really bad mood.

I walked up to Blake and patted his shoulder, giving him and no one else a face that understood his pain. I had lost a father, and then was threatened out of my home, and previous life. I then nodded at his Jubilife suggestion. I then waved to the boys and walked towards the route that we were taking.
