Robert walked into class with the others and sat down. After copying down the problems on the board, he set to work solving them. He didn't see anyone he knew, so he was able to work on them undistracted. That is until another student started yelling At the Teacher. He looked at his claw, He thought about slashing the kid, but decided to let the teacher handle it.

Miss Malicia walked into the battle center and prepared the battle field. Today would be just a brief review, so all that was needed was a basic battlefield, but she insisted on making certain it was in good shape.

((Um, I suppose 'moves outside of battle' can be part of battling class. Students get to choose which part they want to partake in each day. And chemisty is part of science.))

Sam was already inside Mr. Claw's classroom, staring at the board in disbelief.

"First day and already he's driving my insane...review he says...I haven't even learned this crud yet.

Nonetheless, Sam started working on the problems, starting with the easiest (9th grade) ones first.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tio was inside his office, not doing any particularly important at the time.

Joshua raised his hand.
"Mr. Claw! May I answer the three questions for the Freshmans? I don't have a calculator for the first one, but I do know the other two! The answer for number 2 is y=-44 and the answer for number 3 is x=-7!" Said Joshua, pleased that he could do those. He was half confused for the other problems that were shown for the sophmores, and completely confused for the junior and senior questions.

"Ok, everyone. Time is up. By the way, don't worry, this was just a review. For the record, sometimes problems on the board will be a review, other times it will be for a grade. I won't tell you which are which until time is up.

"Also, the answers are:"

Freshmen: x = 75.5, y = -44, and x = 1

Sophmores: Both angles are 51.5˚ or one is 77˚ and the other is 26˚, and the interior angle is about 25.98 meters

Juniors: 1, -3, 12, and does not exist. That's right, tan(π/2) does not exist.

Seniors ( derivative , anti-derivative): -1/(x^2), ln(x) ; 6r, r^3 ; and 1/y, (1/2)*(ln(y))^2

Mr. Claw erased the chalkboard and took out an attendents sheet.

"Ok, students, I'm going to take role now. I'll call out your name as best I can. If I mispronounce your name, then blame your parents for giving you a weird name."

"Uhg. He still hasn't stopped doing that awful joke." Dik mumbled after crumbling up his paper.

Mr. Claw took role and then instructed everyone to do the first 25 problems in Chapter 1 of their designated text book. "What you don't get done in class is homework." He said with a grin.

"Oh don't say that, your a great teacher... " replied Mr.Quiver "Just a bit strict...... Don't hurt me!" Said Mr.Quiver with a small whimper


"...x=75.5 y=-44 and x=1?" Said Alex.

"Riiiiight! Now... what the heck is the other x=1 for..." Said Alex, as he was gone for quite a bit of class, and had no idea even what the problems were.
Alex then realised he was doodling apples again.

Europa had been sitting in the back of the class, pretending to work. In reality, she was thinking about the songs that she was going to play tomorrow, and the snazzy contests she would hold and then she though about her boyfriend, Cadmus Guavio, a Heracross, who taught her all about music. She was undeniably in love with him. As she thought about her "honeybuggy", as she called him, she began to slip off into a dreamlike trance, only to be woken up by some annoying kid. "Uggh" she sighed "It was just getting good..." Europa looked up to the clock and mumbled "Uhh, we still have an hour..."

"Wow, only twenty-five? Pretyy generous...then again, it's only the first day," he reminded himself.

Sam had got all the way up to the last problem on the senior ranked problems, but didn't get enough time to even start it. Anyway, he started working on the Chapter One problems. After all, don't want homework on the first day, do we?

TIME: 8:41 AM

Lyla opened her book.

"Okay, lessee here..... algebra, this should be easy. 12x4-2+28-15x478 divided by.........BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH! BETA PI SIGMA SQUARE ROOT ( mathmatical cussing )! This is long! Shoot, there are 2 problems a page! At least it is easy. " Lyla thought.

Dik mumbled and mumbled as he did his senior work.

"Stupid charizard giving me stupid math to do while he just sits at his stupid desk. And I can't joke around because then he'll give me only stupid things to do in battling class and I won't be able to impress any girls"

He got done with the first two, looked up at the clock, and groaned. "Another hour... wonderful. This is going to be one awful senior year."

Shard sat back in his chair and smiled. He remembered when he was in this class room, years ago, doing the same work he was giving his students, and complaining about it all the same.

"Heh, old Mr. Gretcher would be surprised to see me in his shoes." He said, thinking about the alakazam that he had for a math teacher his senior year.

"Hay!" shouted out Mari. "i had mah hand, hi up in de skai. y did u nawt pik on meh?"

Mari NEVER got questions right. This was a remarkable day for it. It put its hand up in the air, EAGERLY awaiting to answer a question, and nobody called on it. Why did this happen? Who knows, but it sure was infuriating. Its like if the astronauts came home from the moon, and everyone was too wrapped up in their own thing.

"if a STUUUUUUUUUUUDENT has a answr 2 a QUESSSSSHHHUUUUUUUUUN, den u must choose teh STUUUUUUUUUUDENT. is i not a student?" Impatiently, Mari spewed out the answer:

"The answer to the question is--" Mari instantly stopped yelling. In a much lower voice, it said "ohnoez i m incorreckkitu," almost incomprehensible. Mari sank into its seat with a frown on its face, and inflated its poison sacs as large as they could go.

"i sowwwiiee..." said Mari in the lowest possible whisper. Not a pokemon alive could've heard it. Mari laid its head on its desk on top of its workbook, too upset to do the work, or even the second problem.

Mari is a saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad CROAGUNK.

Shard looked up from his desk and stared at the croagunk that had just shouted. He gave...it a weird look before saying, "Er...I'm sorry for not calling on you. But, I wanted to simulate what this would have been like if this was a quiz for a grade and not just a review. Since I don't let anyone know until time is up, I can't call on anyone to give out an answer.

"If I did, it would either allow the others to cheat..." He paused to give a stare at Dik before continuing. "...or reveal that it wasn't for a grade and everyone would cease working. Do you understand now, Mari?"

Dik didn't notice Mr. Claw's stare. He was still looking at the croagunk that he figured was called Mari.

So, is Mari a girl? He thought to himself. I don't know. Mari is a girl's name. But I can't tell. I guess I can wait until I see her...him...it leaving one of the bathrooms before I decided to start flirting with her or leave him alone.

"Finally, Question 25: 2345x12+90-78x45-9+18-3x678=y. Shorter than the others."Lyla thought.

" Done!"

Lyla looked at the clock. "1 hour?! How can I be done so early?! I must have messed up." she thought. She looked back over her questions, correcting any mistake.

"Hey Lyra, want to work together? I need to check over mine too." Said Joshua, who showed her his paper. It was done, but it had scribbles all over it. He was shy, but Lyra was a lot like him, since they both liked math, so he felt easy around her.


(I can maybe actually do that problem in real life, you know?)

"Sure, I'll help you look over it." Lyla said.

Sam was still doing those problems. Not much else right now...

And Mr. Tio was about to make an important annoucement!

"Ahem, hello all students and staff and welcoem to another great year of school," he started. "As you may know, battling season starts soon, and try outs will be after school. For more information, please see Coach Claw in Room 102."

"Also, today's lunch is Magikarp Fish Sandwich. Enjoy."

TIME: 9:12

"Well I guess we don't have very much to do now, do we, Lyra?" Said Joshua. There wasn't anything to do since they checked over their work 3 times.
"I think we might as well as turn in our work early, since I don't want to carry anything extra on my way to my next class." He said.

I also thought that we may have an Astronomy Class? I would love to be the teacher of that!

"aaaaand.... Done!" gamsa thought to himself. he placed the paper on mr. claws table, and went back to his desk. he looked at his classmates. It was mainly guys with an espeon and a masquerain. and then that croagunk.... thing. "i wish there were more girls." he thought to himself. he then waited for the other students to finish.

If you are reffering to me then i apoligize. I did not actually say what time i had finished though so... but i'm figuring that it took me about 45 minitues. does that sound right?

And so, Cade kept on his combination of daydreaming and actually doing the problems.

Mr. Claw breathed a light sigh as several students placed their work on his desk.

I hope this year's battling team works out better than last year. Oh man... most of those kids were so lazy. And, of course, if the kid lost, the parents blamed me.

'Yeah, that's right. It was my fault. The one who kept pushing your kid to do better and practice more. It's not the fault of your kid, just because he would try to skip practice and slack off.'

Bunch of freaking ingrates.

Sam's hand started cramping around problem 17, so he chose to stop there.

"I think eight problems won't take too much time, plus class is just about over...now!

The bell rang for a quick second, which meant first period was over. Now it was time for second period!
