Chapter 1: "Lost trust"

- What have I done wrong?? Do I really prefer Ninetales over Flare? No. I don't. But she doesn't think the same. Karen said my Flareon looks sad and angry and that she no longer play with other pokemon when I send her to the lab. Maybe I should spend more time with her... Now I
have to decide whom I will send back with Karen.

Erick Kirce, a 17 years old trainer walks through the streets of Ecruteak city, thinking about the strange behaviour of Flare, his Flareon since a Ninetales he rescued has joined the team.

He enters Ecruteak pokecenter ignoring the crowd which watches the special tv transmission with the releasing of the new virtual pokemon, the Porygon 3.

He goes to the PC corner of the pokecenter and calls his friend Karen, a young pokemon professor who takes care of Erick's pokemon when they aren't with him.

- Hello? Oh Erick, is you! Aren't you watching the Porygon 3 special?
- You know my opinion about those virtual pokemon...
- Oh yeah. You don't believe a pokemon could be created. But it seems everybody is awaiting for

they to show it.
- Well, not everybody.
- What's wrong with you Erick? You look worried
- How is Flare? I want to take her with me for a while
- That's a great idea! I'll send her with you right now. You have to send someone back... how about Tauros? I want to check his leg is recovering well
- OK. Bye my friend

Erick takes one of his pokeballs from his belt and puts it on the trading pod. Soon after, the trading process begins.

[Starting trade. Starting transmission... The pokemon has been sent. Waiting for response...

Receiving inform.. **whz** Error **cdtarwj**]

- Eh?? What the...!

Suddenly the computer screen fills with odd patterns and random characters appear on it. At the same time the crowd screams in shock. In the television a large cloud of smoke covers the camera and the only sound that could be heard is white noise. After a few moments a message
appears on the tv screen saying the transmission will be cancelled due to technical failures.
[**fai..** Tra.. The pokemon has been received. Ending trade]

- Erick? Erick are you there?
- Yes Karen, here I am. D'you know what was that?
- I don't know. Maybe some electricity problems. TV was off for a few seconds. You don't get mad about this. Whatever it could have been it's over.
- Flare is ok, right?
- She needs some attention, but she is fine. And don't worry, there's no way an electric trouble could harm it, you know that right?
- Mph. Yeah I know. Well, take care of Tauros. Talk to you later.
- Bye bye

Erick stays before the PC while listens what people around says.

- Did you see that? It was weird
- Sure it was. I don't know what happened exactly, but it seemed like people on Devon was scared about something
- Could it be the Porygon 3? I wonder how does it look. I hope they could resume the show-of later.

Something was wrong with Porygon 3 at Devon, and at the same time the computer went crazy. It doesn't sound good. Maybe I should go to visit Bill, he could know something more.

Erick leaves the pokecenter with the intention of meeting Bill in Goldenrod, but his travel is interrupted by a large traffic jam due to the traffic lights malfunctioning...
