My corner: Yet another one-shot written quickly.

<p align="center"><i>Mother</i></p>
The sky darkened and clouds rolled across the sky. Smog and cloud mixed until they were one and the same. The legendary blue sky told in the classics was gone leaving behind a dull blue. Even if a time came that there were no clouds, it would appear as thought it would rain and storm.

The first drops fell to the earth. No one paid it mind. They were so wrapped up in driving here and there; the fumes and smog of the world around them were just as unnoticed.

It began to rain harder and harder until it was a torrential down pour. It battered against the windows, the doors, the buildings, the cars, the people, and the roads.

“Come away from the window,” a mother told her young daughter. “It’s time for dinner.”

“Mommy, why does it rain?” Her small hands pressed against the glass, as rain pounded on the other side. As if they were trying to reach each other.

The woman sighed and walked over to her daughter. She looked out the frail barrier dividing the inside and the rain. She knelt down and picked up the young girl but did not walk away from the window. With the little girl’s weight on her hip she began, “Because Mother Earth is crying.”

The girl stared up at her mother, confused. “Why?”

“She’s crying because her children are hurting her.”

“Why?”

Her mother sighed again, “They don’t mean to. They just don’t think they’re doing anything wrong. So they live their lives hurting her.”

“Why doesn’t she punish them?”

The woman glanced mournfully at the young girl. This world that she grew up in was not the cleaner world of yesterday. The world of yesterday had cared, so what had happened? “She loves them too much, she can’t bring herself to do that.”

She walked away from the window, and the drowning world. Her daughter’s voice reached her ears, “Her children need a time out.”

The woman’s somber face broke into a small smile. “Yes my dear they do. Now it’s time for dinner.”

Just as quickly as the earth's tears fell, the young girl forgot about her questions and the answers that had followed. She gave her mother a toothy smile and was seated with glee. Her mother stared out the window sadly one last time before turning her attention to her daughter, away from Mother Earth and her tears.

There is nothing wrong with him viewing the story differently. Though, I'm mildly curious if there is anything in particular that supports his view, for example a lack of description.

I think it's your constant discription of the smog in the city.

The part were the daughter is asking why the earth is crying. It reminds me when i made my mom cry it was heartbreaking. And the fact that we don't take care of our planet. Or how about the way crimson describes it it is so sad it's depressing. But thats ok because feeling such feelings remind us we're human.
