At 3 AM one night, Kasey was making a signature. She was very, very proud of it, as it had been the greatest one she had made in many months.

Then GIMP froze and Kasey lost everything.

Somewhere during the afternoon later, Kasey attempted to create it again. She was not as proud of the remake as she was of the original, but she figured it would work for the time being, and posted it on Psypoke for all to see.

Patrick gazed at the beauty of the signature.
He loved how the orange and the green went together to create such a sight to see. As he did so, he wondered what the original must have looked like.

lol ;o.

But yeah, I love it. 10/10 ;D.

Hmm, quite nice. Essentially, if I replaced "Patrick" with "DNA" then it would still be the truth.

Kasey, figuring the green end was rather empty, added some decoration.

Patrick smiled at the nice shades of green. As he did so, he suddenly saw the writing. "Summer is here".
(He had forgotten, kind of! =O) He saw the flowers and their backgrounds. He liked how they looked like they blended in with the green.

poplers, yes that's his name, realized that he didn't like the actual text but kinda liked the font. he also thought that the flowers were a good touch, even though they were kind of random. he also liked the render but thought that it could pop out more. that is what poplers thought. :O

I don't understand the work that's involved in any of this. : I like the way they look, but I guess you can say I just don't get it. It's beyond anything I could do, I'm sure. I have no artistic talent.

Well, icons are one of the simplest things out there to make.

Basically, you take an image you like, resize it so it fits in the canvas, edit it a bit so it looks different, and then load on bunches of things like curves, color layers, channel mixing, desaturating, etc. They're like a 100x100 photomanip.

Sometimes, they don't come out looking as if you put a lot of work into them, and that's usually because you didn't (take number 1 and 2 for example). Other times, you don't have to work hard on one and it will turn out great (take 3 for example).

I just do them because they're fun.

3 is amazing(how did you color it?), 1 and 2 look oversharpened/bad quality, and i'm not really sure what 4 is :p

i colored it using curves. i WAS going to write down what numbers i put, but gimp doesn't save curves data, so i had no idea. all i know is that i put in a lot of red, not a lot of green, and enough blue to keep it from looking oversaturated.

I haven't made anything in like..a month. My darling PC crashed, and now the only thing I have to make graphics with is a crapped up version of GIMP on my dad's slow-as-hell computer that can't do anything without giving me the 'Not Responding' message.

As an apology, have this icon that I almost lost due to lag.

How'd you do it? Original render link LONK pl0x. It looks like something GQ would make. But its pretty cool looking. :3

Post subject:  Re: Kasey's Art Gallery - until your pencil breaks

i dunno..the image was really big, so i used its bg instead of textures and stuff. i messed around with the brightness and contrast a bit, and that was pretty much it. i did use one simple texture to brighten it up a bit, but it's barely noticeable. and, yeah, when it was done, i was like 'huh..this looks like something gq would make'. ;P

here's the original image. i'm going to use it in a collab wallpaper that ragu and i are working on, because i like it that much.
