Anyone else here poetry fans? If so who do you like to read? I'm personally a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, Jim Morrison and John Lennon's stuff (particularily his first book) is just wickedly funny and awesome. Also, does anyone write poetry? I do a bit but my poetic skills aren't nearly as good as my short story/flash fiction skills are.

Well I am a great fan of Carol Ann Duffy's works, but other than that, I know very little other poets. Will Shakespears is pretty good, but, like his plays, they can get boring. Sorry in Billy fans out there.

Oh freddled gruntbuggly,
Thy micturations are to me
As plurdled gabbleblotchits
On a lurgid bee.
Groop, I implore thee, my foonting turlingdromes
And hooptiously drangle me
With crinkly bindlewurdles,
Or I will rend thee in the gobberwarts with my blurglecruncheon,
See if I don't!

I don't favor a certain poet, much less a certain poem. But some of Edgar Allen Poe's poems that DON'T relate to horror and death are enjoyable.
And when you think of it, a lot of lyrics from songs can be arranged into a poem.
