You can only edit your own posts. You cannot edit someone elses. If there's a specific error you're getting when you try to edit one or your own posts, post that here so we can see what's wrong.

I'm gonna use this convenient thread to post soething of my own related to editing posts.

Is there a Mod Code at all? Something that you Mods have to follow and keep? Because there should be. And it should say that you can't edit people's posts for your own amusement! Someone had a fine time editing my post nine times in a row to something pointless, off-topic and insulting to me, and I'd really like to know if Mods are even allowed to do that

We usually leave our names behind when we edit posts, if the edit is something significant.

And which of your posts was edited, CF?

Actually, there isn't this "Moderator Code". Gym Leaders and Frontier Brains are here to help members and keep the Forums clean, those are our main and only functions.

Mods can only edit the posts that are in the sections they moderate, except for the Elites and Frontier Brains, that have this global skill.

Would you mind showing the post that was edited?

Okay, along that line... why does the 'delete' button go away after a while?

Author:  Galar [ Sat Nov 05, 2005 11:07 am ]
Post subject:

Because you can't delete someone else's post. You may only delete the last reply of a topic, and it should have been posted by you. If, for example, I posted last in a thread, I can delete that post, but you can't.

How the EDIT and DELETE buttons work:

EDIT-you can edit you own post as many times as you want, you CANNOT edit someone else's post unless you are a moderator of the specific forum or a global mod or admin.

DELETE-you can only delete your post if it was the last in the topic (no one replied after you) and you can only delete you own post, unless you are and admin/mod.

That should clear things up.

Moderators/admin usually put up a not when they edit a post.

Example:

Oops didn't mean to streach things out, I'll edit it.

Thanks.

See Mr. Minish Clearly noted that he edited my post. (all he really did was add his thatnks to my post) They don't do it for ausment, (if they do they don't deserve to moderate) they edit only if it is appropriate, like they edit out a swear word or something and they say "Edited out the bad word :o" or something along the lines of that.

If your post has mysteriously edits itself you could ask the moderators of the forum (via PM it would be SPAM to ask in the topic) if they did it, they might have forgot to say that they did it.

If they didn't do it then you might have gotten your account hacked.

You did bring this on yourself I'm afraid...The posts which were edited both insulted me...

Most proper edits are done with the mod's names on though.

What do you mean they insulted you? If they did I apologize, but I'm pretty sure that the first time it happened it had nothing to do with you.

If you'll look here you'll see that my post says edited by me 9 times in total. Now I wouldn't edit it that many times without reason. Someone changed it to their amusement, adding such things as "I'd like to use this space to express my love for Eswin" and other rubbish such as that. If I remember correctly, I only used the edit in the first place to say that I'd changed my mind about the changes to Psypoke and that I liked them.

Dude, not cool. I am OVER Amphy, remember? So over it..

Pfft you are so not over it :P

EDIT: Does this seem familiar to anyone else?

But good job - King of Terror and Most Popular Admin. Nice work

Think back to what you originally said when you posted this, and you'll pretty quickly realise why it was edited.

You know I was kidding, Amph. I'll stop before this thread becomes a spam-fest, but I didn't mean it to insult you

Then if you look at it that way, the edits were "just kidding"

Unless the thread is locked you may edit all of your posts. You can not delete them, though. Of course, If the Forums are running through some kind of problem, then that function might be having a few problems, I believe.
