I really could use some help. I really want to go online with my pokemon heartgold, but i dont want to convert my wireless router at home to WEP (even when i tried i couldnt trade or battle). I have just bought a 3rd party wireless USB adapter and it has a weak signal that wont allow me to connect to the online Wi-Fi as well. Can anyone give my any ideas as to how i can finally get connected to nintendo Wi-Fi so i can trade/battle. I have enclosed a picture of the wireless USB device i purchased so if anyone has gotten it to work i would really appreciate any insight you can give me.

Dude, you do know that this is a pokemon forum, rite? This is a trade section. And anyways, Ds Dosent work with adaptors, you need a router

Um...I used my DS with a wifi adapter for at least a year and it worked just fine.

Did you install it and follow the instructions in the manual? It's pretty hard to help you when you don't provide any details on what's actually wrong and why you can't connect.

Well i cant connect because like i said i installed the wireless adapter but the signal is too weak to maintain a good connection to the nintendo wi-fi. I am aware that this is a pokemon forum and thats why i posted a question about pokemon battling/trading and how to get my connection so I could participate.

I had the same problem as you, and I'm pretty sure I bought the same adapter you did.
I managed to get my DS connected to the adapter, but the DS couldn't connect to the Nintendo WIFI or whatever. Someone told me it's because essentially the Adapter feeds off your internet, so therefore its just an extension of the router. So if your router is WPA then the adapter will be WPA too. (ok geez it was Serpentsounds ok so blame him if this is wrong).

Anyway what I did instead was bought the official nintendo USB connector thingy. You can get them off ebay. The only sad thing (for me anyway) is that it isn't compatible with Windows 7, and its too much of a hassle to bother my sister to use her windows XP computer. So I've never actually /done/ anything over Wifi other than nab my FC.

But it anyone else can help... I'd like to know as well (so that my initial purchase doesn't go to waste...)

Hey buddy thanks for the help. I am probably going to return this garbage wireless adapter and invest in the nintendo one. I have windows xp so it should work a lot better. If there is any chance you are selling yours for a reasonable price i would love to know. I also have a couple cyndaquils i am looking to trade for any other starter so if anyone has one one to trade let me know.
