The ring around the power button on my XBox 360 has gone red. :violin:

I think my 1 year warranty is still good -- should I just get a new one and lose everything, or get it fixed?

If keeping all of your saved data, that you spent hour upon hour, day upon day to achieve is important, then get it fixed.
If not get a new one.

Quick Q - If I were to buy a memory card and transfer the data before it had a chance to crash, would I be able to keep it? Is that even possible? O_o

Good news: Microsoft has (or had) made it so that this particular problem can be fixed for free, instead of the once-$150 fee.

If this is the same problem I think it is, within a day or two your Xbox will not even turn on, so I don't think that you can transfer it to a memory card.

I don't think a memory card would have enough space to store that much game data.

I'm not sure if this will be of any help, but I once experienced the red lights somewhere around the middle of this past summer. I had a third-party cooling fan attached to the back of it, but after I removed it, my 360 worked just fine.

If you have a cooling fan attached like mine did, you may want to try taking it off.

Sorry to keep bugging the Psypoke community --

I plan on getting a new XBox 360. I played Halo 3 and got all the armor on my Live account. If I were to retrieve my live account, would I still have the armor?

Trust me, it should be free to send it in and get it fixed.

The first thing you should do is remove the Hard Drive and test out the Xbox. Next, try putting your hard drive on a friend's 360 and see if that works.

It is FREE to send it in, but costs 300$ to buy the cheapest 360.

The error has something to do with overheating, so a cooling fan (preferably Microsoft's) would be optimal.

I have a 2 year warantee at Best Buy; it's still valid to. Since my mom paid 400$ for the Pro package when she got me my XBox, I might be able to get an Elite, since it's the current 400$ package.

((That's how they did it for my iPod anyways.))

If I would be able to get my armor and things back i'd rather just get a brand new XBox. I've tried all the things XBox.com said to try, but none worked.
