Anyone heard of this comedy starring Rowan Atkinson?

Just so you know, I've only watched the first season, so this is all based off of that.

The Black Adder is about a Prince in the Dark Ages, who is remarkably slimy and yet ridiculously cocky.

After accidentally killing the king, his uncle, Sir Edmond's father (some muscular guy with an incredably large amoint of teeth) is appointed King of England. Now, the Black Adder, Edmonds self-appointed name, strives to rid himself of his capable older brother, who happens to be the current heir to the throne, and put himself first in line for kingship, with the help of his dim-witted servants Baldric and Percy.

However, all of Edmonds attempts only end up bringing himself endless amounts of ridicule, and thats what makes this so funny.

Discuss.

Seen it and loved it. :D

I have no idea what's going on though (plot wise), as I only manage to find it on at about 5 am here when I'm preparing to go to bed. Has some delightful humor in it, in my own humble opinion.

I just finished watching the second season of the Black Adder, and it was much better then the first, which is saying alot.

This one takes place during the reign of Queen Elizabeth (Queenie). Black Adder is Queenies favorite noblemen, and, along with his mindless servant Baldric and some idiot named Percy who Black Adder can't seem to get rid of, faces a man-servant named Bob, a queen who enjoys signing execution warrants, a legless captain who likes the taste of his own urine, a baby-eating bishop, beer, and a crazy kidnapping German who hates causing inconweniences (it's supposed to be spelled that way).

Funilly enough, Hugh Laurie(sp?), who played the German, now stars in the popular drama "House".

My favorite (mostly appropriate) line - Flashheart: "This girls tongue is like an electric eel, and it likes the taste of a man's tonsils."

Don't you mean The Black Vegetable?

And Seasons #3 & #4 also improve upon their predecessors.

He's in every Episode of Seasons #3 & #4.

Sigh, British comedy is the best form of humour.

I have seen all the episodes of black adder as well as the special movie-length episode called "Back and Forth". where black adder builds a time machine and screws up history, Hilarious.

Other chuckle-enducing pommy-coms that I thoroughly enjoy are "Red Dwarf", "Fawlty Towers" and anything to do with Billy Connoly.

Just so you know, i am not trying to be offensive by using the "p"word, as i am a brit myself, of celtic origin actaully.

There's also the little-known Blackadder's Christmas Carol that flashes back to Seasons #2 & #3 along with other eras featuring the Blackadder Dynasty.

It's short but oh-so-sweet.
