gonboo wrote: Above the Winter Moonlight - Dragonforce My favourite Dragonforce song. Wintersun - "Death and the Healing" - 9.4 / 10 Amazing Folk metal here. It contains attributes of Power, Progressive and Black metal, and makes a stupendous job of evoking an "epic" feel; the Folk vocals also do a great job in doing so. Lyrically, the song can be quite akward at times, but regardless, it deserves a high score. |

And so it is Just like you said it would be Life goes easy on me Most of the time And so it is The shorter story No love, no glory No hero in her sky I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes... And so it is Just like you said it should be We'll both forget the breeze Most...of the time And so it is The colder water The blower's daughter The pupil in denial I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes off you I can't take my eyes... Did I say that I loathe you? < Sung by a woman. Did I say that I want to Leave it all behind? I can't take my mind off of you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind off you I can't take my mind... My mind...my mind... 'Till I find somebody new. - 'The Blower's Daughter' by Damien Rice, (and the small verse by a woman I don't know the name of). Although I mostly like rock music, this is one of my favourite songs to listen to when I'm feeling upset and reflecting on things. Sung slowly and softly, it calms me down but also makes me feel sad. I'm listening to it because it reminds me of my ex girlfriend who I can't take my mind off and it's driving me insane 'n' when I see her I find it hard to take my eyes off her. The last line fades as he sings so you can hardly hear the end of it. |

Coma White, by Marilyn Manson It's one of their most beautiful and deep songs. The whole song and the music video is a tribute to the moment at which JFK died. While it is Marilyn Manson rockish style, I think it still transmits the message quite well. The lyrics: Theres something cold and blank behind her smile Shes standing on an overpass In her miracle mile (coma): You were from a perfect world A world that threw me away today Today to run away A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Wont save her from herself Her mouth was an empty cut And she was waiting to fall Just bleeding like a polaroid that Lost all her dolls (coma): You were from a perfect world A world that threw me away today Today to run away A pill to make you numb A pill to make you dumb A pill to make you anybody else But all the drugs in this world Wont save her from herself |

Papa was a rolling stone - the temptations It doesn't get any funkier. And the vocals are some of the best from that era. It's realy groovy and i love melvins guitar licks in the song. He's probably the grooviest guitarists. Along with Robin Trower. |

Gorillaz - Kids With Guns (Quite Village Remix); D-Sides, Disk 2, 2007. I honestly didn't think this track could get any better. But, played with a lessened tempo, perhaps to further emphasize Albarn's beautifully paced vocals, this remix really does the original justice. Oh, and, to those metal enthusiasts, if you haven't already, check out a melodic power/speed metal band called Magic Kingdom. In particular, look up a track called Black Magic Castle. It'll blow your mind. The band's music, I think, is really polished (well, as much as metal can be, anyway). |

I've been playing a song on repeat for a while called "Blue in Green" by Miles Davis. It's an instrumental song, and I find it to be rather relaxing since it's extremely mellow, as well as the fact that it matches my mood. There's a place in Ohio City just short of downtown that has live jazz, and I imagine it to be like this. I mean to go there, but I always forget, only reminded of it on my passings on the shore way. The classical music station, WCLV plays jazz every Saturday from 12-6am, which I like to listen to when I can. It often makes me lethargic, which usually feels good and this song in particular. |

Dark Moor - "Nevermore" My favourite band at this moment, and I personally think this song is an ingenious power metal track. The chorus isn't very powerful, but the rest of the song is truly prodigious, especially the intro. I strongly recommend any power metal fan to listen to this. |

Emotion is Dead, Pt. 2 by The Juliana Theory A friend recently made me aware of this punk/emo band . . . who I'm a little ashamed to admit that I really like. Especially the songs Trance and If I Told You This Was Killing Me, Would You Stop? |

You Give Me Something-James Morrison I heard this song in my dreams, later to find out that I left the TV on while I was sleeping and a commercial on FX came on. It's that commercial with Rescue Me, Nip Tuck, and whatever other shows they showed in it. It's a great song that I think everyone with ears should listen to, here's some of the lyrics: You want to stay with me in the morning You only hold me when I sleep, I was meant to tread the water Now I've gotten in too deep, For every piece of me that wants you Another piece backs away. 'Cause you give me something That makes me scared, alright, This could be nothing But I'm willing to give it a try, Please give me something 'Cause someday I might know my heart. You already waited up for hours Just to spend a little time alone with me, And I can say I've never bought you flowers I can't work out what the mean, I never thought that I'd love someone, That was someone else's dream. There's more but go listen to the song if you want to hear them. |

Well at the moment, the song The Scientist by Cold Play is playin on these ole speakers. I really don't care for "new age" music, but the feel of the song sure does make me feel happy and sad at the same time...plus the guitar and singing is kinda simple, so I can play it. |

I'm listening to "Piece of me" - Briney Spears i actually really like this song. it's like britney is making a state ment about her self. Like saying that the paparazzi will always try to make her look bad, and such. It seems like she is trying to finally get her life back on track : ) |

Planet Hell - Nightwish I'm not emo! The only metal/emo bands I like are: Nightwish and Evanescence. Evanescence was a kind of recommendation by Kasey a while back and Nightwish is something my girlfriend listens to. Emo chicks are hot! *ahem*, sorry. |

Emo chicks are hot! *ahem*, sorry. Neither of those bands are emo bands. In fact, nowadays the definition of emo music is an entire misconception, but I won't bother going into detail. Evanescence are an alternative rock group and Nightwish are a symphonic metal group (Nightwish could also be considered a pop act as of lately...). Also, it seems as if you're associating metal with emo music. If this is the case, you should look into each of the genres. The genres differ to eachother in most aspects besides instrumental line-up. Leaving my somewhat argumentative stance aside, I must say that "Planet Hell" is one of Nightwish's better songs. The intro really solidifies the song and allows it to progress almost perfectly. Anyway, on-topic: Exhorder - "Desecrator", taken from the album, "Slaughter in the Vatican" I love Exhorder's over-the-top lyrics. Sadly, their following album, "The Law", wasn't as prominent as their debut album. "The Law" does have its gems, but the post-thrash style simply doesn't appeal to me as much as raw thrash. |

rio_uk wrote: rio_uk wrote: metal/emo Also, Evanescence at least used to be emo. Either way it seemed as if you were associating the two genres with one other. I apologise if I misinterpreted your post. I'm currently listening to: Dark Angel - "Darkness Descends", taken from the album, "Darkness Descends" My favourite band at the moment. Personally, I don't think they received as much credit or recognition as they deserved. Each of the instrumentalists are (or, at least, were) inconceivably talented and always play(ed) to their maximum potential. The aggression in the vocalist's voice was incredible, and the guitarists/drummer were undeniably some of the top musicians in the entire thrash metal scene. Their lyrics were also rather ingenious, if I say so myself. Lyrics: The world now stands ancient, showing her age Antique, senile, archaic Peroration impending, not one to assuage The human remnants of earth Pandemic winds chill the soul Eradication of the will Nihilism extracts its toll Frightening the meekly servile Sacrosanct, the religious ones Are fast becoming extinct Choatic precursors of what will befall Permeate the night air The fear of the end preys on the minds Of all the soon-to-be dead With death at the hands of a hideous fiend A grisly fate to comprehend This city is guilty The crime is life The sentence is death Darkness descends Internal combustion, plutonic rage The bodies create their own hell The flame from within, unleashed from its cage Purging the great sins of all Admissions of guilt are all that are sought By judges who have twisted laws The quick abrogation of the populace Striking with great enmity Listing the ways in which we will die As the prophets claim we will soon Self-immolation that unjustified Stygian shores ahead loom The coffins are ready, the death warrant signed Depression has swiftly set in Inimical powers against humankind This charnelhouse ensanguined This city is guilty The crime is life The sentence is death Darkness descends Decaying, the ruins fall swift to the ground The carnage is morbid and great Mephitic deathstench of corpses abound The earth meets an untimely fate The horrific malignance, spreading its wings Across the expanse of the sky Contamination and all that it brings The judges commit genocide Retaliation, a useless ploy We've gazed into the face of fear We know that it stands for our own bitter end The end we realize is now here The claws of denouement grasp at our lungs Asphyxiation rules supreme The future of mankind cut down while they're young Our children die clutching their dreams... This city is guilty The crime is life The sentence is death Darkness descends Lyrics are taken from Encyclopaedia Metallum, so please excuse any spelling/grammatical errors. |

/me NP: Do Somethin' - Britney Spears I love this song. I heard it on last.fm less than half an hour ago, and I've been listening to it over and over again. Most people probably won't agree with me, but I think this is one of Britney's best songs. :/ Oh, and I'm not a huge Britney fan. I don't give a damn who she marries, I only care about her music. ;[ Lyrics: [Intro] Do you feel this I know you feel this Are You ready? I dont think so [Part 1] Somebody give me my truck So I can ride on the clouds So I can turn up the bass like... Somebody pass my guitar So I can look like a star And spend this cash like... Whatchu gonna do when the croud goes Ayo? Why you standin' on the wall? Music startin' everywhere So why dont you just move along? [Chorus] I see you lookin at me Like I'm some kind of freak Get up out of your seat Why dont you do somethin'? I see you lookin' at me Like I got what you need Get out of your seat, Why dont you do somethin'? [Part 2] Now you all in my grill Cause I say what I feel Only rocks on what's real Baby bump bump But I can't do that with you Only here with my crew I can roll if you can Dont be a punk punk Whatchu gonna do when the croud goes Ayo? Why you standin' on the wall? Music startin' everywhere So why dont you just move along? [Chorus x2] Na nananananana Uh! Na nananananananana [Bridge] I see you lookin' over here Cant you tell I'm havin' fun If you care like I know You would stop starrin' at us And get your own space And do somethin' [chorus x2] ****! Do Somethin' Ow! Why dont you do somethin'? |

Most people probably won't agree with me, but I think this is one of Britney's best songs. :/ Haha. It's pretty funny how most people rated that song either 0/5 or ?/5 or (negative number)/5 in the "rate the song" thread. Anyway, the song that I am currently listening to is Pretty Green Onions by DJ Sharpnel I like DJ Sharpnel's music and they do a lot of cool genres like Speedcore, Terrorcore, Happy Hardcore, Gabba, Noizecore (sp?) and other cool stuff. Their songs (I think) are all covers of other songs, often times a mix of two or more songs changed into one of the genres mentioned earlier, among others. They also add some of there own stuff into the songs. They'll cover pretty much anything. Pretty Green Onions specifically is Ethno Core and it is a cover of of the Finnish band Loituma's take on the song Levan Polkka, a Finnish folk song, although most of the singing heard in Pretty Green Onions is not actually Finnish because a lot of it is a cover of the gibberish section of the song (Hooray! Finnish Gibberish!). Some of you misght have heard Levan Polkka because it's the song used in those Loituma Girl/Leekspin Videos. Well that's all I have to say about it. You can check out the song on Youtube, as someone posted it there (it uses the Leespin animation). Other cool songs by DJ Sharpnel are Pants, Torinouta Noise Rave, Strangeprogram etc. I don't really remeber it all but I that it is a little hard to find songs by them... I suppose most of you will think this is crap... |

Maroon 5- Won't go home without you Maroon 5 - Wake up call Foo Fighters - Best of You Foo Fighters - Long Road to Ruin Fall Out Boy - I'm Like a lawyer with the way I'm always trying to get you off (me & you) Fall Out Boy - Thnks fr th mmrs Good Charlotte (the BEST alt/rock band ever) - The Anthem Good Charlotte - I Don't Wanna Be In Love (Dance floor anthem) Kenny Chesney - You Save Me Taylor Swift - Teardrops on My Guitar The Wreckers - Leave the Pieces Evanesence - Bring Me to Life Evanesence - Call me when your sober Evanesence - Lithium Sheryl Crow - Love is Free Michael Buble - Everything Cascada - Faded Dragonforce - Prepare for War Three Days Grace - Never to Late Linkin Park & Jay-Z - Encore / Numb (Yes, I have extremely wide tastes. I have a song of every genre on my laptop! ) "Prepare for War" is an old favorite, introduced to me by my little brother. If you thought "Through the Fire and Flames" on expert on Guitar Hero was hard, I can't wait to see if this is on Guitar Hero 4.Though not as quick as "Through the Fire and Flames", "Prepare for War" is fast - paced, somewhat metal - flavored, and a brilliant guitar solo in the middle, "Prepare for War" is a necessity for any self-respecting rock fan!!
