Can you play GBC and GBA games on the DS?

Post subject:  Can you play GBC and GBA games on the DS?
Fairly straightforward. I've never owned a handheld device in my life (never even played on one, besides Guitar Hero on my cousin's DS, which is awful and I don't recommend it), and as I was just wondering.

And, can they be played on the 3DS? I guess that would have been a better question to ask.

The DS is backwards compatible with GBA, but from what I hear, it doesn't play them well.
As for GBC, I've actually put a few suggestions in to them to see if they could make an adapter for it, but for some reason, they turned every one of them down. Why they did so leaves me puzzled, because it's another way of making more money for them.

A better way to make money, buy more games...

So... GBA games work pretty well on the DS and DS Lite, but there's no more slot on the DSi and above, sadly.
GBC games doesn't fit on the DS, for some reasons.
