Post subject:  Amazing Lyrics

Here's a place where you all can post your favorite lyrics, whether you find them plain amazing or you can't resist singing along with them when you hear 'em.

These are mine:

Mad World, Gary Jules

And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
I'm running round in circles, it's a very very
Mad World

Just for Now, Imogen Heap

I think something is burning
Now you've ruined the whole thing
Muffle the smoke alarm
Whoever put on this music?
Better quick sharp remove it
Pour me another
Oh, don't wag your finger at me

Hide and Seek, Imogen Heap

Where are we?
What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling

The Diary of Jane, Breaking Benjamin

There's a fine line between love and hate, and I don't mind.
Just let me say that I like that, I like that

Something's getting in the way, something's just about to break
I will try to find my place in the diary of Jane.
As I turn another page, as I look the other way
I still try to find my place inthe diary of Jane
So tell me how it should be!

After the World, Disciple

I'm the one that you've been looking for,
I'm the one that you've been waiting for
I've had my eyes on you ever since you were born
I wll love you after the rain falls down,
I will love you after the sun goes out
I'll have my eyes on you after the world is no more

All these songs are beautiful. I kinda prefer the Tears for Fears version of Mad World, though.

I'll add more later~

"Falling Away From Me" by KoRn
Quote:
I can always say,”It's gonna be better tomorrow”
Falling away from me
Falling away from me

Beating me down…
Beating me…Beating me down…Down…
Into the ground
Screaming so sound…
Beating me…Beating me down…Down…
Into the ground

(Falling away from me)
It's spinning round and round
(Falling away from me)
It's lost and can't be found
(Falling away from me)
It's spinning round and round
(Falling away from me)
Slow it down

"Vermillion" by Slipknot
Quote:
She seems dressed in all the rings
Of past fatalities
So fragile yet so devious
She continues to see it
Climatic hands that press
Her temples and my chest
Enter the night that she came home
Forever

Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)

She is everything and more
The solemn hypnotic
My Dahlia bathed in possession
She is home to me

I get nervous, perverse, when I see her it's worse
But the stress is astounding
It's now or never she's coming home
Forever

Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)

Hard to say what caught my attention
Fixed and crazy, Aphid attraction
Carve my name in my face, to recognize
Such a pheromone cult to terrorize

I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me

(Yeah!)

(oh-oh)
I'm a slave, and I am a master
No restraints and, unchecked collectors
I exist through my need, to self oblige
She is something in me, that I despise

"Hey Daddy" by KoRn (one of the only songs that can be called 'art', from a band that can still be called an 'artist')
Quote:
Let me see (Let me see)
All my life has been (Taken) Taken
This demon (Haunts me) Haunts me
They're waiting (Help me) Help me

You **** me up,
I'm gagged and bound
You pick me up, when I am down
I cannot live without them
I do not live without them

Hey, Daddy (Daddy)
They are taking me (Away)
Biting
Facing him (What soul)
My soul
They're eating
Please help me

The song is about drugs and the effects of abusing drugs. For the rest of the lyrics, http://www.metrolyrics.com/hey-daddy-lyrics-korn.html

Piano Man by Billy Joel wrote:
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The Regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin

He says, "Son, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes."

La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Chorus:
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"
Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinkin' alone

Chorus
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright

Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life

It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"

Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum

Chorus:
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright

American Pie by Don Mclean wrote:
A long long time ago
I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
**The day the music died**
So

[Chorus]
Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die[/chorus]

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

Well, I know that you're in love with him
Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues
I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died
I started singin'

[Chorus]

Now, for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But, that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lenin read a book on Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died
We were singin'

[Chorus]

Helter skelter in a summer swelter
The birds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast
Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?
We started singin'

[Chorus]

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
Cause fire is the devil's only friend
And as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in Hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died
He was singin'

[Chorus]

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music wouldn't play
And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most-
the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost-
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died
And they were singing

[Chorus:Repeat x2]

I think Piano Man is about how sadness and loneliness can affect anyone, no matter who you are.
American Pie is about a multitude of things, but mainly about how life was simpler in the... '50s, I believe.
