Coldplay's new album, X&Y, is pretty good, in my opinion. The album came out today and has all those U2-ish hooks I love about them (and that they shot for during production). The guitar work is tasteful and precise, and that singer can do some pretty cool stuff, too. Overall, good album. You can pick it up at Best Buy for a mere $10. |

I am not a fan of Coldplay but have bought X&Y today - just to see what all the fuss is about, really. There are a couple of tracks I thought were OK, but I expect the album will grow on me in time and I will come to like it more. Music usually has to either excite me or have lyrics to which I can relate. |

I like their song but I swear I have heard the same tune somewhere else... The title makes me think of math... stupid bloody x and y axis... Math is evil. I think its a bit overrated to be honest.. maybe cause ive heard it on the radio like a bajillion times. I wanna hear the frog song |

You got to it before me Papersun. Anyway some of the songs sounded similar to some of thier other ones, and overall the songs were good with a couple better ones. If you can get it from a local library (I can) or something like that it's worth it. You don't need to really buy it, but if you want to, do what you like. |

I've listened to clips from their new album, and they do sound similar to some of their other songs. Cold Play has also cut back on their haunting and jumpy piano riffs in their songs. The new album, I believe Track 13, is the only song in which piano is included. Their song writing has for the most part been decent, but I think they're cutting in more guitar, but that type of guitar playing doesn't compare to the sound of four note piano riffs. It's sounding more of that MM tone. Which I guess it's okay, but it's nothing unique. I'll pick up the album here soon, but it's nothing exciting. |
