Here's my ideal SSB4 lineup for the 3DS
Mario series: Mario Luigi Peach Bowser Bowser Jr.

DK series: DK Diddy Funky

Yoshi’s island series: Yoshi Baby Mario+Baby Luigi (as 1 character)

Wario series: Wario Waluigi Ashley

TLOZ series: Link Zelda/Sheik Ganondorf

Metroid series: Samus/ZSS

Kirby series: Kirby MK King Dedede

Starfox series: Fox Wolf Crystal

Pokemon series: Pikachu Wigglytuff Lucario Blaziken Axew Pokemon Trainer D/P/PT with Chimchar, Grotle, and Empoleon

Earthbound series: Lucas Porky

Fire Emblem series: Ike Lynn

Retro characters: Ice Climbers Mr.Game and Watch Pit Little Mac (if he counts as retro, if not he can still be in)

Pikmin: Olimar 3rd Party: Solid Snake Sonic Tails, Knuckles, and/or Amy (depends on how much sonic they want) Crash Bandicoot

Others: Isaac from Golden Sun and that one assist trophy from Sin and Punishment

Total: 45 if they allow all the Sonic characters I want.

Reasons for the ones I cut:

Toon Link-I’m sick of Link clones

R.O.B.-not quite popular but if in the next installment i’d live with it

Marth-seems like filler to me

Falco-Nothing more than a clone of Fox; at least Wolf is noticibly different

Captain Falcon-hasn’t had a new game since 2004. he’s obsolete

Ness-like CF he’s been left in the dust

So what do you think?

The Mario series sound ok. Also note that Rosalina's likely to be in, as she's suddenly appeared in lots of spin-off games and has a huge fanbase considering how short she's been around. Also, maybe Koopa, or Hammer Bros, or something like that. Nintendo probably want really iconic characters to appear in this next game.

DK series, yeah, I agree. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Rool there too.

Yoshi series sounds good.

Wario series sounds good. Although I kinda consider Waluigi being in the Mario series, cause he hasn't really appeared in any Wario games.

Legend Of Zelda sounds fine. Maybe some more characters, cause I mean, it's a big series. Also, Toon Link is surprisingly popular; they'll keep a Link clone, although they probably won't have both. And they will probably give them better movesets as well. They've got Deku Leaves, Skull Hammers, Bombchus and all that stuff; they don't need to have the same moveset as Link.

Metroid, I agree.

Kirby series sounds good. Maybe some more characters because he's under the same company as smash bros. Knuckle Joe, Lololo, The Yarn Prince guy, people like that.

Starfox, I agree, but Falco should be there too. Falco isn't just a clone of Fox; you might notice that he's several tiers higher than him (whereas Fox and Wolf are pretty much side-by-side on the tier list). Falco focuses more on multi-hitting moves and combos, instead of Fox, who relies more on his fast mobility and hard-hitting moves. Plus, Falco doesn't have the shine, which is a character-defining move that Fox and Wolf have. Falco's a very popular character, and chances are he'll be kept. Wolf and Krystal, agreed.

Pokemon: did you mispell Jigglypuff as Wigglytuff? Jigglypuff is much more iconic and world-famous than Wigglytuff, and makes up half of the "cutesey" side of Pokemon, the other being Pikachu. Having Mewtwo back wouldn't be too unexpected, as he probably had the most number of peopel pissed off when he was cut out. Him and Lucario are quite similar, sure, but they're both iconic, popular characters and are therefore likely to be in. Blaziken... eh, no. He's not nearly as iconic enough outside of the competitive world, and having him without Sceptile and Swampert as well would be kinda weird. Also, same with Axew; it's more likely to be Zoroark, who was the first Pokemon revealed. If anything, the Pokemon Trainer is likely to be with the Hoenn starters, to promote the remakes that will be coming out around that time when SSB4 does. Personally I want Torchic, Grovyle, Swampert, but that's hugely open to opinion.

Earthbound, I think Ness is just too famous to quit now. He was one of the veterans, for a start, and has quite a big fanbase. Just cause he has no new games coming up doesn't mean they will cut him out; unlike Roy or Young Link, Ness has been in the past three games, so even if he has no upcoming games, he will still be popular enough to stay in. Lucas and Porky I agree. Although I'd be surprised if there are any more; the Earthbound series has really staled.

F-Zero: Sorry, but Captain Falcon is arguably the most popular character out of the entire smash bros roster, so leaving him is out of the question. End of.

Fire Emblem: Marth was the original Fire Emblem character, and the protagonist of the upcoming games. If anything, Ike, Roy and Lyn are the fillers. But Fire Emblem is a popular series, and Ike is probably one of the most popular characters in brawl (on wifi, he's definitely the most used). Ike and Marth are very likely to appear again, and Roy and Lyn also have a good chance.

Retro characters sound good. Making a moveset for Little Mac will be very difficult; he's a boxer with no special powers... However he's quite popular so is likely to be in. Mr. Game & Watch and the Ice Climbers are popular enough to reappear again, and Pit will almost definitely be back to promote the new Kid Icarus game, possibly with Palutena, Medusa and new, significant characters from that game. Nintendo might make a character based on Pac-Man or Tetris, or something like that that seems impossible. It would provide a nice "WTF" factor that games kinda need now.

Pikmin sounds good.

R.O.B.: I really like R.O.B., and I really want him in the next smash bros, but unfortunately it's true; he's just not popular or well-known enough, and has made pretty much no impact whatsoever by being in Brawl. Hopefully he'll make lots of cameos.

3rd Party: Gray Fox is arguably the most popular assist trophy at the moment (tied with Shadow), so chances are he'll find a spot. This is also likely with Snake's overwhelming popularity in Brawl. And by that same argument, Shadow should be in, possibly before Amy and Knuckles, as he is officially the second most popular character in the Sonic series and one of the assist trophies people want to become characters the most. After Shadow, it'll be Tails and Knuckles, and then Amy depending on how much Sonic they're having. Crash Bandicoot would be great :)

Others: Isaac and Saki are both popular and quite easy to make for a party-fighting game, so they have quite a chance.

These aren't the characters I want to appear; these are the characters that are likely to. My ideal list contains Salamence, Dry Bones and Ridley, and has Mario, Link and Fox cut out... but obviously that will never happen :(

@Dry Mario: Yeah it would be nice to have Rosalina it too i guess.
DK: Idk I'm not a huge fan of rool but if they let Dedede in they could put rool in too.
Wario: Yeah I just thought I'd put Waluigi with Wario since they're best buds but yeah he'd probably file under Mario.
Zelda: I'm not a big fan of the series so most of what I kno about it revolves around SSB. I just don't like Link having clones its just tiresome now but if they kept a clone, I'd rather they keep Toon Link instead of inviting back Young Link.
Kirby: Aside from those 3, its hard to imagine many Kirby characters as actual fighters but the ones you mentioned could possibly make the cut.
Starfox: To me Fox and Wolf are more different than Fox and Falco and I think Krystal would maybe be original but I guess if Falco stayed it wouldn't be too bad.
Pokemon: I didn't necessarily leave out Jigglypuff I just thought that it would be asn interesting twist for Jigglypuff to evolve into Wigglytuff to mix things up. Blaziken is one of the most famous Hoenn pokemon alongside Mudkip, Kyogre, and Groudon. Blaziken was one of the first Hoenn pokes introduced in the anime so if Hoenn were to get their first pokemon player character, it'd be Blaziken. The anime is also a reason for me picking Axew since a dragon pokemon as a fighter would be interesting. And the Pokemon Trainer I chose is just one of the many possibilities it all depends on which games they choose to represent.
Earthbound: Ness has a big fan base? I don't think so. To me Lucas is more user friendly so if they were to cut either Ness or Lucas, they'd pick Ness to cut.
F-Zero: CF the most popular? Tell that to Mario, Link, Pikachu, DK, Fox, Sonic, Snake, Peach, and even MK, PT, and Luigi. There's no point of having him around when his series hasn't made new games for 7 years when pokemon has made over a dozen new titles in that time period.
Fire Emblem: If they were to cut a fire emblem character, it would be Marth since Ike has a unique moveset never shared by anyone else and he just came into the series, but Marth being cut is 99% not gonna happen.
Retro: Yeha it'd be cool to make Little Mac playable. I don't think there will be more Kid Icarus players. Pac Man is a bit of a long shot and can qualify as 3rd party but idk about Tetris. Nothing says I can kick butt like a chain of blocks.
R.O.B.: I like him but if any retro character is to be cut it's R.O.B. But who knows maybe he'll be given a second chance.
3rd party: I have a feeling Shadpow would be quite similar to Sonic so Tails or Knuckles would add something different. Amy would be nice too for the lack of female characters.
Others: Yeah Isaac and Sakia re among my fave assist trophies.
As for your picks, Ridley and Salamence are more suitable as adventure mode bosses but Dry Bones with a bit of luck might find its way into the roster.

If they did the SSB roster on the anime, Meowth would have been there from the first game =\
Pikachu isn't just famous because of the anime, he is the mascot of Pokemon and appears all over their merchandise and adverts. Jigglypuff isn't too famous from the anime either; she was more just a random Pokemon chosen for the original SSB (possibly because she would be easy to edit from the Kirby model), and that's where most of her fame comes from.
If they're choosing a dragon type Pokemon, they're more likely to choose a fully-evolved Pokemon, because they'd want to portray Dragon types as a powerful type. It'll probably a pseudo-legendary; Dragonite, Salamence, Garchomp or Hydreigon. Dragonite is the most likely one, Dragonite cause he's been there since gen 1 is probably the best known outside of Pokemon.

What do you mean by user friendly? If you mean how easy it is to use the recovery move, the difference is minimal. Ness' circle is not as tight as Lucas', but it also moves faster, so actually for recovery, they both use the same joystick motion (which is actually just doing an anti-clockwise spin around the joystick). If you mean Lucas is better Ness, Ness is actually higher than Lucas on the tier list. If you mean he's a character that's easy to relate to, Ness is a happy guy with confidence who knows he is a hero; on the other hand, Lucas is a guy who lost his mother as a kid and really carries a life of depression. To me, Ness is the easier character to relate to.

He's all over the internet, dude. "FALCON.... PAWNCH!!!!" "Show me your moves!" That kinda thing. He's pretty damn popular.

When Marth appeared in Melee, it wasn't his fault that he had someone clone his moveset, and anyway that was the main reason why Roy was cut out. Plus, Marth is the iconic character of Fire Emblem; even the Fire Emblem symbol is the Falchion, his sword. He has starred in about 5 games, compared with Ike who has starred in 2. Cutting him out would be like cutting Pikachu out. Sort of.

Shadow carries a gun, can control time to teleport and can ride motorbikes. I'm sure Nintendo can make a moveset for him that's completely different from Sonic's.

Oh so ur saying Axew sucks? You hurt my feelings....
jk. But I think Axew would make a good character. But then again Dragonite doesnt seem like a bad idea either.
Its just how I feel for me its just easier for me to use Lucas than Ness but not by much
Yeah those quotes are funny but it still isnt one of the top 5 most popular characters in the game. I maybe could reahc top 10 but idk CF is just old to me I mean it hasnt had a new game since 2004.
Marth is more famous than Ike in Japan but in other nations I think it's Ike but I'm just saying I think Marth may be cut but i doubt either Marth or Ike will.
Well I dont play many Sonic games in fact the only one I own (if it counts) is Mario and Sonic at the Olympics so I really didn't know that Shadow was that different from Sonic (although the chaos control thing did hint that)
