Post subject:  General News: May 19, 2005 - More Revolution, X-Box 360...

And I'm back again with another great news edition for Psypoke! :)

This week, we're focusing on some detailed information concerning the
brand new Nintendo Revolution console, a very interesting picture on the
next generation X-Box 360 and some gaming data on what new games
are coming out soon for our current systems!

_____________________________________________________________
Nintendo Revolution Inside Specs:

First of all, E3 has announced that Revolution is the final name for this new
system and not just a work-in-progress code-name. Secondly, a final color
for this new console has not yet been decided, so it won't necessarily be
the shiny black that we've all seen.

Revolution games will be housed on 12 centimeter optical discs and the
machine will also play DVDs (for which you'll need to buy a special
attachment) and Gamecube titles. Memory comes in the form of 512 MB
of on-board flash memory, while there will be the option to buy additional
SD memory cards.

The controllers for this brand new system will be wireless.

So far, Smash Bros. will be a launch title in the release of Revolution. It
as well as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals and a few other games (yet to
be mentioned) are already being worked on to support online gaming.

Other offline games being worked on include - unsurprisingly enough -
next-generation versions of Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong and Metroid.

Revolution, said Nintendo Boss Satoru Iwata, will "appeal to every
member of the household, whether they consider themselves gamers or
not". To that end, Revolution will also be what Iwata called a "virtual
console" capable of downloading 20 years worth of Nintendo content,
which covers games that first appeared on NES, SNES and N64.

Essentially, Nintendo Revolution won't be anywhere near as powerful as
PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 but it will be a lot cheaper and - hopes
Nintendo - a lot more accessible. It'll go on sale some time next year in
2006.

Nope, they're right, considering it was unveiled on national TV, we would've seen something different if those were fake.

Post subject:  Next-Gen Consoles and Systems

First of all, the Xbox 360 has yet to be fully revealed of all its capabilities. Microsoft still has some tricks up its sleeves. And I don't believe I read that only online capable play is allowed, as it would be not even a system, just a computer (LOL! Like it isn't already?)

Halo 3 was hinted to be released AROUND the time of PlayStation 3. Bill Gates said as the PS3 is released, they will be walking into Halo 3. But it'll be around the date most likely, not to be taken literaly.

Also, an improved PSP, or so I here is being released as well. It is called the Gizmondo (horrible name). It'll have internet access and all of that junk with games. Pretty much a very small laptop with gaming features. Another Nokia N-Gage. It is made by Tiger. It'll get some sales, indeed, but I doubt it will be as popular as Sony's PSP or Nintendo's DS because they are the name brands. It'll die out like the N-Gage after a while.

"Among its many purposes, the Gizmondo is capable of playing movies, music, and video games. In addition, it has built-in GPS, just in case you get lost; internal Bluetooth for wireless multiplayer and syncing between your many devices; and general packet radio service (GPRS) for your data needs on the go. Tiger Telematics built the Gizmondo by combining an ARM9 400MHz chip, made by Samsung, and an Nvidia GoForce 3D 4500 128-bit graphics accelerator. 64MB of RAM coupled with a SD flash card reader round out the device's data features. The device also has a built-in 640x480 camera that produces decent pictures for the unit's 320x240 2.8" TFT display." - Gamespot

Besides, DS will be going online, and the PSP will have many problems fixed so that it will have major sales (pricey, but worth it if you have the money).

(Sorry for the intrusion of handhelds, but hey, call it the future generation handhelds. ;))
