Hello all,

My little brother's DS Lite seems to have a faulty R button, because when he was playing FireRed, the help menu popped up randomly. After some testing, I concluded that the problems occurred with the R button. It seems that it gets "pressed" when one tilts the DS back and forth, or if it's perfectly perpendicular to the ground, and there's a very light pressure on it. As for the cause, I'm not entirely sure--he keeps the DS in a hard shell case, and it has little wiggle room because he has (two, i believe) GBA games inside the case. Both are in hard shelled GBA game cases. (http://img.alibaba.com/photo/205696782/ ... a_game.jpg)

Thank you,
PowerPeanut

Most likely a mechanical issue in the pieces of plastic connected to the button in the interior. Something is either bent, broken, or dislodged that is causing the button to "press" with little pressure. The cause is irrelevant, but is most likely from some sort of collision, or abuse of the button. It's probably not a good idea to try and fix it yourself, because there's a good chance it will end up with even more serious problems. If you have a warranty, then make use of it. That's as much as my amateur knowledge can offer.

Whatever you do, do NOT fix it yourself. From my experiences with DS Lite, taking it apart when you have no idea what you're doing will result in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8naCFV2R3A

Try finding someone in your area who specializing in fixing video game consoles.
