I am SOOOO getting a Revolution! I messed up big-time by getting a PS2 (I was influenced by my cousins. Damn them and their cheap marketing tactics!) This meant no Pokemon XD or Coliseam... DAMNATION!!! Besides, the Revolution's games sound interesting (is it true that there is a new Pokemon for it?), also, the XBox 360 and the PS3 just look like the same ol' thing. The Revolution's got innovation! A motion sensor in the controller... with this and the DS, I'm in shock at how many people bad-mouth Nintendo. Plus, being able to download old NES, SNES and N64 games without buying old consoles! YAY!!! BTW, whoever said that the PS3 looks like a George Foreman Grill, hear hear!!!

I'm with GQ on this one. My cousins influenced me into buying a PS2 and I didn't get Collo or XD...

But, on the bright side, I can always get those pokemon from my friend who does have those games. Wheee!

Covernet... You don't know that the 360 is better than the PS3. Since you haven't played the PS3 you have no idea what it will be like, you might even like it betterm because right now you sound like a fanboy. Trying waiting till it comes out and play it before you start spouting unfound hate.

I must say, as long as we're already comparing PS3 and 360, then Microsoft hit the nail on the head with this one. That is, of course, talking about what the Microsoft guy at E

Im getting a PS3. Its most likley going to have the best graphics of the next-gen systems. Not only that, but the ugly boomerang controller is no more. Tha actual model looks exactly like the Dualshock 2, but its wireless, and it reacts to movement like the Wii controller is supposed too. I dont mind the enormous price tag, thats what birthdays and pinching pennies are for.

The thing is, though, alot of us middle class citizens cannot even AFFORD it to begin with. It doesn't matter if its worth it or not; I cannot dish out more than $250 (at the most) for a video game console. Heck, I regret paying $200 for a Playstation 2 that I never play. The main reason I am getting a Wii is because it has a great chance of being affordable. Sony may be beefing it's console up and "ripping themelves off", but as far as the price goes, there is no way I'll EVER get $500+. I could probably buy a half-decent PC for that much, or close to it.

I agree with krisp on this one, 500 bucks is 500 bucks, whichever way you look at it.

Do you "PS3-ZOMG expensive" people realise that you don't have to buy the console the moment it comes out ?
The prices for the 360 / Wii / PS3 will eventually go down by the time they stop making games for the current consoles.

We have every reason and right to complain about the price. $600. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of money to be wasting on a video game console/wannabe computer. I have tuition, a car payment, insurance, gas, and plenty of other things to worry about. I don't care if the technology supposedly actually cost as much or more than they're asking us to pay; it's just stupid design.

Let's start with BluRay. Brand new, practically experimental technology. It costs a fortune, in the area of $20 per disk at this point. That's absurd. There is no reason they HAVE to use BluRay. There are plenty of other alternatives that are FAR more affordable.

I'm actually still trying to find out what justifies that jump in price between the two models. The upgrade adds a bigger HDD, wireless controllers, and HD support. HD has been out long enough that it's quite affordable. Adding an HD out jack to hardware that already supports it costs maybe $10. Maybe. A bigger hard drive? You can get a 100GB IDE drive for about $20 tops these days. And wireless. It's a transmitter and receiver. You can get that kinda stuff in the Radio Shack bargin bin.

No, we will complain about the PS3's cost, because there's no legitimate reason it HAS to be so expensive. The same applies to the PSP; there's no reason it HAS to be so expensive, it just is because they can make it that way.

To be honest, I was a little disturbed when I first heard about the price and now I'm even more disturbed if all those "extra things" are unneeded as you said they are Jiggz.
IMO Sony can't be any stupider and not lower the price.
I think the big price is just a publicity stunt to draw more attention to the console.

welll, i fthey think they are attracting customers with the 600 dollar price point, then they are wrong.

If you don't play your PS2 then what are the chances that you will play a PS3.

And no, you don't have the right to complain. Is Sony saying that you have to buy it. NO. If you buy it, it is your choice and yours alone. If you aren't willing to pay $600 for something that is quite honestly worth $600 even if they didn't have add all the extras, then don't. Nobody is forcing you.

gonna pick up a DS Lite next paycheck, and then save up for a wii, (which won't be much saving, since i pull in about 500$ after taxes every two weeks XD, which half of it goes to my mom for rent and such, but still...).... and i am also thinking of getting a 360... just for Halo 3 when it does coem out eventually.

I unfortunately find those items to be too expensive. Especialy the Xbox 360 It's like what $399.99. I hate it when they bring systems up way too high. I mean how can a 14 year old kid get that kind of money?

I'm getting the Wii. It's the only one with very significant advances from the last one and has been confirmed to be NO MORE than $250, so I won't have to sell a kidney to get it. (Oh, and it has Super Smash Bros. Brawl.)

I'll probably be getting a Wii. I most likely won't get one at launch, I'll probably wait until the first price drop. The PS3 is way out of my price range, and honestly it's not that impressive, especially for what they're charging. The X-Box 360 is nice, but it really isn't that much different than the X-Box to justify it for me. Sure, the graphics are improved, but nothing stands out to me to make me want it.

Personally I think that the Wii has a lot of great selling points, such as backwards compatibility with the Gamecube (especially since mine broke a few weeks ago), the virtual console, and the "Wii-mote", which will be awesome if the game developers are creative enough.

Wrong. Of course she has the right to complain. It's an awful business decision. Sure, the fanboys and spoiled rich kids who cannot survive without the absolute latest technology will get it, but when you're making a console, a sensible goal would be to sell as many units as possible. What they're doing is appealing to a tiny segment of the market.

Yes, the PS3 is technically worth $600. In fact, if I remember right, it costs even more than that to make each unit. They are selling each console at a loss. However, they didn't have to develop a console that would cost so much money. At this point, the blu-ray technology is extremely unnecessary in a console, and overpriced, as all new technology is. In your opinion, the insane price tag is justified. If you ask me, the price is not worth what you get for it.

Unless they have some new-console sale at Target or something, and I save up around $300-500, I highly doubt I'll be getting a new console until like, six months-year after it comes out, but I'm getting a Wii purely because I want TP and SSBB :P. At least the Wii will be worth it. Unlike the PSP or something...seriously, I don't want a MP3 player and a video gaming system for twice what they would cost separately...
Yay for backwards compatibility. Yay for numchuck remotes, which I will probably break thinking they actually are numchucks.
As for now, my Gamecube and SSBM will occupy me.

Everyone who lives at Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australasia will NOT be able to get a ps3 until march 2007.

Japan and North American release dates are unaffected by the delay.
