I have been waiting for this movie since Transformers came out in theaters.

This movie is pretty much shrouded in secrecy and there isn't any official information that tells much.

Here is a synopsis:

"Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives."

Now, for the best trailer you might find of this movie, go to:

It is sweet.

I've been waiting for this movie also...
the trailer in Transformers didnt even give me the name so i thought it was godzilla
Then like 3 months later i find out... cause i recognize the statue of liberty in some sort of ad...forgot what. Any idea what the monster is? cause i heard there was a screening in a university somewhere and it says you will eventually see the monster.

Kirke is silly.

Anyway, yeah, I've been looking forward to this movie since then as well. I'm hopefully going to go see it at midnight with some friends.

There's a good spoiler on Youtube which involves looking at the promotional poster in a certain way (the clouds~) and it reveals the monster's head. It's not a confirmed spoiler though and could be someone just seeing things.

It looks pretty good though, although I'm not looking forward to the Blair-witch style video-phone thing. Might take a bit of the action away...somehow.

I agree with The Obsidian Wolf but I think 'Cloverfield' should be better than 'The Blair Witch Project' because in this there appears to be more than three people doing bugger all in some woods; getting terrified if a twig snaps.

I'm not sure when the film will be out here but it looks like a movie I'd watch if there weren't any cool-looking horrors on.

I have heard that the big monster resembles a giant whale thing with three flippers on both sides of its body. The smaller creatures are supposedly crap things. It was just a video I saw on YouTube, but it sounded good. The only thing that didn't fit was that the whale things claws were to large to make the scratches shown on the back of the Statue of Liberty.

The movie comes out tomorrow, so someone will find out soon enough. Hopefully someone doesn't come here and post what it is....

I saw it. It was awesome. Very well done. I don't know if it was the movie or the cold in the theatre, but I was shaking the whole time.

You're the only one that has given it a good word. Some idiots on another forum told me what the monster was. So that has been ruined for me.

It was a really good movie
theres so much back story to it.... like the slusho drink and japanese company...tagriatchi (or somthing like that) i think it was called

Also the monster was not the point of the movie.....they want you to know the littlest of it
(if you ask someone to tell you what the monster is...there is no way to describe it)
It was to reflect how society will react on crisis like this, that they have no control over..like the mental and physical effects

and if you watched till after the credits theres an extra message

So you were only going to see Cloverfield to figure out what the monster was? >->;

That's pretty dumb to say the least.

I actually liked the movie very much, at most points in time, it just seems that you're one of the characters in the movie because of the camcorder. But at some points, you're wrenched out of it when the actual character (Hud is his name iirc) sets the camera down or drops it. But then its used really well because it doesn't show you the gruesome shots, but is still very cinemographic.

SPOILERS: When they're trying to pull the girl with the spike through her chest away from the spike, the camera is dropped and since they are on a tilted building, the camera slides until it hits a dis-shoveled piece of furniture, you see the girl's legs only and you see them raising. I would much rather watch _that_ than actually watching the whole image. ;_; So yeah, its used really well.

Also, inb4 OMG THE MOSNT3R WUZ RE-VEELED! D:!!!!!!!!1110943!

No. I was saying the identity of the monster was ruined for me. Not the visit to the whole movie.

I think the movie was great. It just needed a few more shots of the aliens/monsters whatever they are.

Necromancy, etc.
