There are certain unspoken rules in horror movies that if people follow, they don't get killed. (Usually). Has anyone noticed? It actually mentions a few in the horror film Scream. These are the more noticeable ones to me and the first 4 are mentioned in Scream:

- Don't get drunk
- Don't take drugs
- Don't have s*x
- Don't say "I'll be right back", because you won't.
- Don't trust anyone.

Has anyone else got any they've noticed in films or would just think people shouldn't do, etc?

Lol, most definitely agreed.
You certainly don't stick around waiting to get killed or to watch everyone being killed around you, arghh :D

That's a good 'rule', I hope no one would really be like "Oh, let's stay here for a while" when it might as well be called 'Death Camp' or something.

And donn't try to be a hreo. The killer is probaly a lot stronger than you and could take hits(like Jason)

Girls rule in horror films; When the killer is in the house, DON'T go upstairs, you GTFO via the front door.

General rules: DON'T fall asleep (A Mr. Kruger might arive.)

DO stay in a group.

NEVER go near a spooky place/object/person.

ALWAYS run away in terror when confronted by the killer.

Lol, yeah they're good although I'm not sure I agree with you guys saying to "always run away in terror" or to not "try and be a hero" because there is always one hero/heroine, (obviously, the main character), in horror films and they tend to end up defeating the killer/s or at least surviving and so I think I'd prefer to try and be the hero than not try. Like 'Sidney' in 'Scream', she's awesome.

Another 2 rules I've thought of:
- Always check behind the door when you know a killer is around.
- Always check the back seat of your car.

(With a weapon handy when you do both!)

And, of course, always lock the door, haha.

Don't get peer pressured- if your group is going, stay away
Turn on the light! - now it loses the point of horror movie... I wish some filmaker goes beyond our horror movie stereotypist and actually bring a day-horror

and it is very stupid if they get lost for no reason or something...

I never said to NOT be a hero. It's better to not go near the Killer's location... Not without atleast Military-grade hardware and back-up.

Make sure you don't spend the whole journey playing with your phone, prolonging battery life. Also you should never take a shortcut without knowing where the so called shortcut if going to lead you. I have to admit though, I'm not into horror movies, they scare the **** out of me.

I'm not bothered by horror movies, I watched the Grudge, the Grudge 2, both "the ring" movies, and Stay Alive on Halloween weekend, and none gave me the slightest chills, but meh.

Anyways, some rules

-Don't leave "the group"
-Don't fall asleep
-Carry a weapon
-Don't stand and stare at the strange, distorted creature crawling towards you, with an intent of hurting/killing you in a very painfull way, instead, RUN.

Lol, to me, the Grudge is one of the cr*ppest horror movies made. I love horrors, though the only one that I don't like is 'the Ring' because it's weird and I hate kids, especially freaky/psycho little girls in films. Modern horror movies are either great, (not scary but they should keep you 'at the edge of your seat'), or really bad.

That last 'rule' is good, I hate it when people just stand/sit there and stare at the creature or killer. You might be frozen in fear/shock for a second but then you run, run, run! Or at least try to fight, otherwise you'll just die :P .

Another:
- Do not use the elevator, (lift). Always use the stairs or an alternative route, unless you know for sure that using the elevator is best.

Really? I personally thought it was stupid and too long, but that's just me. Now what's always bothered me in horror movies is how the one person with the gun always ends up wasting all their ammo shooting blankly into the dark. If they had any brains, they would wait until they actually see what they're shooting at, and then shoot, and shoot it right between the eyes if at all possible.

They might be black for all you know. I don't think they intended to be racist. Although the black character doesn't always die first, they do tend to die in horror movies and I think in quite a few they have been killed first.
In fact, in some movies this fact is even pointed out by "the black guy", e.g. the guy in Scream 2. And in programmes - e.g. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, series 7, Buffy asks a girl called Rona, who's black, why she would have just died, (Buffy was training her to fight), and 'Rona' replied "because the black chick always gets it first".
This is becoming less common now though, but usually only the main character or the main character and one other person survives whatever horror they're experiencing. So, (unless the main character is black), if there's a black character in the group, they're bound to die anyway.

- Don't think the nightmare is over just because you or someone else has shot at, etc, whatever/whoever is after you
- Don't think it's over then drop your weapon
