Samus. She's, like, the classic tragic figure. Everyone she's ever loved has died violently; she's the last scion of a fantastically advanced and benevolent culture, yet she's not even of their species. Plus, she's dirtied their gifts to her with genocide - in the process wiping out every one of their greatest achievements, the Metroids. And no matter how many pirates she kills, there are always more. She can never have revenge. Finally, in a demonic twist of fate, her encounter with Metroid Prime spawned a shadow self which mirrors her own distasteful qualities, which she must hunt and kill. Who couldn't love a gal like that? |
