The Oscars (Academy Awards) are tonight! I am sooo pumped. Well, I'm gonna post who I want to win and who will more than likely win.

Best Motion Picture of the Year

Nominees
** Babel
** The Departed
** The Queen
** Little Miss Sunshine
** Letters from Iwo Jima
My Opinion
I haven't seen two of these (Babel and LfIJ) and I am kinda upset about it. The Departed, directed my Martin Scorsese is a big favorite, mainly because he's been beaten out my Clint Eastwood every year. Many think that this year is gonna be Martin's year. The one I want to win is . . . . The Queen. I like Helen Mirren and she has great experience playing royalty because she has played a queen at least 3 times! So, The Departed is who's gonna win (probably), but I want The Queen to win.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

Nominees
** Leonardo DeCaprio for Blood Diamond
** Ryan Gosling for Half Nelson
** Peter O'Toole for Venus
** Forest Whitaker for The Last King of Scotland
** Will Smith for Pursuit of Happiness
My Opinion
There is a big tie for this one, at least for me. I want Will Smith or Forest Whitaker to win. They both played wonderfully in their roles. The one with the backing though is Forest Whitaker for playing his insane dictator role.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role
Nominees
** Penelope Cruz for Volver
** Judi Dench for Notes on a Scandal
** Helen Mirren for The Queen
** Kate Winslet for Little Children
** Meryl Streep for The Devil Wears Prada.
My Opinion
The biggest bet is that Helen Mirren will win this. I hope she does. See Best Picture why. I just love her.

Best Achievement in Directing
Nominees
** Clint Eastwood for Letters from Iwo Jima
** Martin Scorcese for The Departed
** Paul Greengrass for United 93
** Stephen Frears for The Queen
** Alejandro González Iñárritu for Babel
My Opinion
Like stated in Best Picture, this is really a mud-fight between Martin and Clint. This is going to be something. Clint has beaten Martin's Gangs of New York and The Aviator.. The one I want to win is United 93. This should have come out earlier, but it came out. This shows the story of the people who stopped a plane on 9/11 from reaching its target. This portrayal of real heroes brings tears to your eyes. I seriously cried in this movie.

Best Foreign Film
I want Pan's Labyrinth to win sooo much. I loved it. It was a creepy kind of fairy tale that you don't see often.

Best Animated Film
I HATED CARS! I DO NOT want it to win. That movie was not funny at all and was just a waste of my time. But, Happy Feet, was a masterpiece. The animation was awesome, the cast was wonderful, the music was cool, and the script was superb, complete with comedy, drama, and even a spark of romance.

Happy Feet won? EXCELLENT!!!

*Throws party at house, and invites all psypokians who think pochama is cute and/or love penguins*

This is excellent news.

For "Best Picture", I would have preffered to see The Queen win. I hadn't seen any of them, but The Departed was just, no.

For "Best Actor", I too would have preffered Will Smith.
For "Best Actress", YAY!!!! Mirren won!

Eh?

Forest Whitaker? Hmm never even heard the name before this. I must say, this years oscars were a great dissapointment - I'm glad happy feet won over cars though. Its outrageous that Kate Winslett didn't win anything. Oh well.
