Wow. I thought I was the only one here that heard of/listens to Del.

That's probably the only rapper I'll listen too.

MF Doom is pretty good too.

And so are you, your post is spam because of the backseat modding on your part. Also, Ash Ketchum's post is NOT necromancy because he is contributing to the topic. I think it is you that should read the rules, Mutant_Mewtwo.

I hate rap.
(: I HATEHATEHATE IT.

Why?
What it stands for.
Not only violence, (BUTOMG. YOU STABBED SOMEONE, YOU'RE TWO FACED.) but how they portray women (:
Look at 50 Cent. What are his songs about?
WOMEN && OMG, I CAN'T SAY IT ON HERE D:

Stupid rappers.
They sing, I mean rap, about girls with perfect bodies, and girls who don't have that feel bed. And then they stop eating and then they get problems and then... yeah.

I personally like rap. I don't agree with some of the lyrics, but I'm not able to control. (Listen to what I say, Eminem!!! *Yes Sir*) lol Anyways I can't honestly say anything about the way rap used to be because I've only been listening for about 2 and a half years... I LOVE that song my Nelly and Paul Wall (Grillz) I'm not just a rap fanatic though I like to mix it up. Some of my other fav songs are Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield and Vertigo by U2. Modern rap is usually trash, but some of it is in it's own way pretty good, whether it's actually meaningful lyrics (Kanye West: Jesus Walks [I like that one too]) or a catchy beat and or rythym. Some just sound good because they're...weird. (Put ya Stunnershades on!)

Fascination with urban culture? I live in the Ghetto, Urban culture is my day to day I hear gunshots pretty much everynight.

what songs now of days isnt about Sex or "i'll kill myself if i dont have sex" You might think Eminem sucks but he does have a talent in the way he ryhmes certian words together.

but certian music isnt for everyone thats why there are so many choices. for example i can listen to anything except Country i cant stand it.

If you dont, dont say nothing

Double negative. You've just said 'do say something'. :P

I dislike rap completely. Except the odd song with i can tap my feet too. But I hate what they sing about, guns, killing blah blah, my pimp. Whatever. I think they're making the kids of today idiots. With graffiti and violence.

Meh I have my own opinion, dont curse me for it.

I listen to A LOT of Rap and Hip-Hop, but I don't like it because they sing about violence, drugs or alcohol, I listen to it because they try to get a message across, most people don't notice but if you listen to the lyrics carefully you hear hidden messages. So don't condemn them entirely

Boy, if people who didn't like rap really read your post and listened to you, there would practically be no posts at all. I find it a little ironic that your topic asks a question which intends for open discussion, yet you ask people who don't like it to not say anything. I'm gonna go ahead and ignore your request to not respond and put in my two cents.

Though rap sometimes actually expresses realistic issues and carries a decent message, most rap and even some hip-hop and rarely R&B has a negative focus (money, ostentatious materialistic goods, sex and hot women, weed, et cetera). Considering these genre of music come from the black culture, I can't decide whether this originally came from the black culture reflecting what they honestly believe to be important, or many following suit of selected people who decided what was important. What I do know is that music is definately an influence and many people use it as a somewhat of a guideline to understand what one's decorum should be within that culture. I believe that rap is awful not only because of it's musical style but its cultural focus.

I feel that Rap/Hip Hop gets unfairly singled out as a bad genre, when mainstream rock, pop, mainstream country, etc., are all equally as bad as mainstream Rap/Hip Hop. The problem is mainstream music in general.

And to be honest, I'd rather hear mainstream rap than some mainstream rock. Groups such as Nickelback, Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, and Alter Bridge should be punished for crimes against music.

There is plenty of good rap out there, and I disagree that it is all as 'underground' as people claim. such as...

Digable Planets
N.E.R.D. / The Neptunes
Talib Kweli
Mos Def
Fugees
De La Soul
Public Enemy
Arrested Development
Run-D.M.C.
A Tribe Called Quest
Wu-Tang Clan
Dilated Peoples
Common
The Roots
Jurassic 5
M.I.A.
The Streets
Gnarls Barkley
Reflection Eternal
Blackalicious

and I could keep the list going if I so pleased.

I am still shocked at how people can like rap; I'm deliberately writing what I'm about to.
1. Rap is for chavs, kevs and townies ( I honestly can't stand their behaviour, education and what they wear).
2. They don't even friggin' sing take 50 cent the homophobe, he damn talks.
3. Ahem... If I am not correct apart from female rappers, the only thing rappers rap about is women taking their clothes off, if you ask me they're screwed up perverts.
4. At least the people in rock bands have talent; they are able to play various instruments unlike 'rappers'
5. The influence 50 cent and Eminem have on younger children... e.g.
Child: I wanna be just like 50 cent! I wanna grow up and have lots of girls around me and pay them to be my slaves and give me what I want!
Mum: :O *faints*

So there you go.. I hope that expresses my centiment.

P.S. I don't care if you told me not to post a reply if I didn't like rap, I'm able to post my views am I not? (Infact it isn't just rap/hip-hop r'n'b manages to irritate me, some nerve they have creating music that is depressingly awful).

<FireStarter> Oh, I'm so sorry. I forgot to read the part of the rules that exempted you from having to follow them! </FireStarter>

PKM, that's my view on it as well. :)

There are only a few rap songs that I like, and I don't even know their titles. I just hear them on the radio. The emos at my school listen to rap... I just can't stand it. -.-

Oh, btw. It's 'sentiment'. :P

Your mom is for chavs, kevs, and townies ;[ Rap is for the most part, good. Good beat, good grinding music, and it's not as degrading as people say it is (usually). Woot for rap. :o

WRONG [i]SOME rappers are talented musicians well some there were two brothers that played the violin and changed classical into rap to be honest they only sped up the beat and made it fast but they were talented and they didnt sing or do anything just played, I geusse they werent really rappers but they were talented and they came from the ghetto[/url]

I love rap.

Favourite Artists:

2Pac
Biggie
N.W.A
AZ
Nas
Cormega
Dre
Canibus
Mobb Deep
Klashnekoff
Wu-Tang Clan

Plus loads more. I HATE 50 CENT!!! He should die.

Now-a-days rap is turning sour, mostly thanks to our friend 50 Cent... Back in the late 80's, through the 90's to the year 2000 rap was good, but then G-Unit came along, and since then it's been commercialised and bought by kids who love the beat but to them lyrics mean nothing. Back in the day lyrics where what sold a record, but now it's the opposite. This said, a few rappers are still keeping it real, like Nas, but I can't really think of anymore. Rap has gone downhill yes, but if you look back in raps history you'll find some of the most influencial music ever made.
