Second question. Why do nearly all Pokemon hatch out fully formed, eh? Well, apart from the baby pokemon of course.

coz who wants a weak pipsquek with half the usual base-stats? plus nintendo don't have the time to make flawless features in all of their games, I guess.
here's a question, how come you can't breed latias and latios? yeah, I know their legendaries, but come on, their meant to (well, I can't say it on "public television") they are the same pokemon, just the opposite genders of that pokemon.

Nintendo didn't want people to breed the Latis 1. In the movie they were brother/sister (I haven't seen it; that's what my friend told me), and 2. If you could breed them, they'd have Uber-godly stats... It'd be nice to breed my Latios with my Gardevoir. Then the Ralts'd have Uber special attack :twisted:

brother and sister? o_O
do pokemon still inherit stats in the gem generation? I can't really remember :? ...
hold on... that can't make sense, who are the mother/father? this would mean the mother/father would be brother/sister and so on... :?
that is confusing....

There are more than one of each of the Latis. It says so in Latias's Emerald dex entry, if you don't believe me. So, therefore, their mom/dad don't have to be brother/sister (That's be wrong in so many ways, man).

I don't know if they still inherit stats, but I did breed my two most powerful Gardevoirs and the Ralts's had better stats than usual... i.e. one had a Sp. Atk thing of 13 at lvl 5, right out of ze egg :)

yeah, I know there're more than 1 of them, I looked on both psypoke and my brothers emerald (he's caught latias).
but you know the anime, it's pretty wierd....and.......
SP.ATK 13!? the max I've ever had is 11, lol.
on-topic= how come ash never loses to anyone but gym leaders and/or people at the leagues? (yeah, I know it's just an anime but it doesn't make much sense, it's the same story all the time in the leagues; which is a bit repeatitive... :roll: )

yeah, rubbish and simple and stupid question...
meh oh well...

Most I've had was about..14, maybe. I forget.

Now, to answer the question, did you ever see the episode 'Johto Photo Finish'? If you didn't, Ash lost to Harrison (Charizard vs Blaziken--it was cool to watch), so he doesn't always beat everyone...

{golduck}
Golduck is loosely based on the Kappa, if at all. The Kappa does have some characteristics of a duck in some variations, specifically a duck-like beak, but the defining trait of the Kappa is the pale of water on its head, which Golduck lacks. If all of the water falls out of pale, the Kappa will be severely weakened or die. Also, the kappa is similar in size to a small child, so, if anything, Lombre, (who is mistaken for a human child according to the Pokedex,) is more similar to a Kappa than Golduck is. Players of Animal Crossing should know one character that is completely based on a kappa: Kapp'n, the sea turtle-like creature that brings your player to the tropical island. Obviously, he doesn't look much like Golduck.

{ninetales}
Ninetales, Renamon, and any other nine-tailed foxes in Anime are based on the mythical kitsune creature. Actually, an episode of Pokemon, Just Waiting on a Friend, explores the background of the kitsune thoroughly. In the episode, Ninetales has the ability to generate fog, create a human-like feminine apparition, (Lokoko,) seduce and hypnotise Brock, etc. The fact that Lokoko has no reflection in a mirror represents the thought that the kitsune may be vampiric; the kitsune are also known to guard a 'star ball,' and this Ninetales was kept in a special crystal Pokeball with a star on it. Kitsune can also be known to breathe fire, explaining the typing of the Ninetales family, and can create illusions, explaining why the family learns moves like Confuse Ray. Kitsune grow more tails as they get older; Vulpix is born with one tail that splits into Ninetales' nine eventually.

{arcanine}
Arcanine is based on a shishi, which is a Chinese mythological creature. For reference, if anybody watched the (second) season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in which Lord Zedd was the sole villian, the Black Ranger's "mastodon lion," Zord was, in reality, a shishi. A shishi is not solely a lion, but a mix of lion, tiger, dog, and dragon, and traits of all four can be seen in Arcanine. Arcanine has a lion's mane, a set of stripes similar to a tiger's, and a dog's nose and howl. The dragon aspects of the shishi explains why Arcanine can learn Dragon-type attacks such as Dragonbreath, and the mythological status of the shishi explains why Arcanine is unofficially considered a "Legendary" Pokemon in the game's lore. The shishi is known for being a "guardian," which can be applicable to the Arcanine lineage. In the Anime, Growlithe is the main Pokemon used by Officer Jenny's police force, and was James' childhood protector.

yeah, yeah, enough fooling around, I tried (which was stupid coz they're legendaries and obviously can't breed :roll: ) and it didn't work. what's more they aren't in the dragon egg group, nor any egg group but the no-eggs group, so meh.
anyways, thanks for the info frost! (I've been wanting to know about nintales for quite a while now)
but ever noticed how charmander looks like agumon a bit? (seriously, they do. are they based on mythical lizards or are they just lizards?)
and guilmon looks a bit like them too. :roll:

{charmander}
Agumon looks more like a dinosaur than Charmander; while both are bipedal creatures, Charmander stands and walks completely straight, while Agumon is hunched over. A lot of bipedal dinosaurs had similar posture to Agumon, and Agumon's digivolutionary line had bigger Digimon that were obviously based on dinosaurs (Greymon, anyone?.) But, since dinosaurs are comparable to really, really big lizards, saying Agumon is based off one wouldn't be entirely wrong. Since Agumon and Charmander both attack with fire, they could be loosely based on the mythical Chinese version of a salamander, which lives in the hottest flames it can find and weaves clothing that is unharmed by fires. This "myth," was based on real-life salamanders in Europe, which lived in logs, and how they sometimes suddenly appeared from the flames of an in-door fire.

{charizard}/{rayquaza}
Meanwhile, Charizard's design is based on the more western representation of the Dragon: it resembles a giant lizard, including the claws and big tail, it has giant bat-like wings which enable it to fly, and it breathes fire. I'd say that Charizard is probably the most "western" dragon in the Pokemon series, although Dragonite is another good, (although overly cute,) example. Traditional eastern dragons are usually more snake-like in appearance, do not have wings, and are associated with water rather than fire. In Pokemon, Rayquaza most resembles an oriental dragon: a large snake-like serpent that can fly through the air by what seems to be floating. Another series that shows the difference between the eastern and western versions of the dragon is Final Fantasy: Bahamut is a large lizard-like creature with wings, while Leviathan is a serpent that uses water magic.

{rayquaza}/{kyogre}/{groudon}
Also, the subplot featuring Rayquaza, Kyogre, and Groudon in Pokemon Emerald is easily comparable to the story of Ziz, Behemoth, and Leviathan in Jewish mythology. I think Nido has mentioned this story before because he'd obviously know this better than I would. Groudon and Behemoth are large ground-dwelling animals/creatures, Kyogre and Leviathan are serpent-like monsters that live in the water, and Ziz and Rayquaza are creatures of the air that serve as the mediators between the earth and the water. This also explains why Rayquaza is the only Pokemon with the Air Lock ability: it blocks the rain caused by Drizzle, and it blocks the extreme heat/light caused by Drought.

{clefairy}/{deoxys}
Also, it's extremely likely that Pokemon takes place in an alternative universe-version of Earth, specifically Japan, since Kanto, the Sevii Islands, Johto, and Hoenn are all based on regions of that country, and real-life cities such as Hollywood and New York have been briefly mentioned. Most of the Pokemon themselves have originated either through mutation of existing Earthern animals, (since the Pokemon world has very few real-life animals, besides some worms and fish in the earlier episodes of the Anime,) or from outer space. Of course, a handful were obviously created by human scientists. At the very least, though, the Clefairy family came to Earth while riding the Moon Stone, and that's why the Clefairy both inhabit Mt. Moon and worship the Moon Stone as a God. The Anime supports both of these theories. Both the Pokedex in the video games and the Anime support the fact that all versions of Deoxys have come to Earth from outer space, too.

What's that supposed to mean!? You don't believe me!? Ok, yeah, I admit it, I was kidding! Lolz! But seriously, we need to liven up this board, back on topic:
HOW did Ash actually find the Togepi egg, whereas the rest of us have to actually WORK to get one? EASY!!! Misty and Ash decided to 'have fun' one night and the time Ash finds the egg is the time Misty layed it. (That's why SHE got to keep, and love -not in that way-, Togepi!!!) :mrgreen:

Well I'm not going to search thoguth this topic to see if anyonw else has posted these theories:

{ho-oh} / {moltres}
While it's obvious that they both represent the pheonix, I believe Ho-oh is more so, due to the fact that his name is Japanese fo Phoenix, Moltres is more to create the Water/Ice, Eletric and Fire circle represented in the bird trio and beast/dog trio.

{articuno} , {zapdos} , {moltres} / {entei} , {raikou} , {suicune}
These circles are of a ovious origin, it's called Final Fantasy. The creators of Pok

How can {tangela} wear boots??? It has legs of seaweed(which of course can't wear anything) or what? And what are those boots mae out of? Rubber? Plastic? These two are man-made items. And how did it get them? Or maybe humans steal boots from Tangelas. :lol:

Don't you see? THEY steal from US!!! In their minds, they think, "Oh, hey! Boots are the new sneakers!" and once they all put them on, they realized that they needed SPECIAL boots because ours were way too small for them... if only they could have gotten them unstuck!!! lolz!

i agreed with Magus. In one of my earlier thread i said that ho-oh is a Phoenix, but someone later said it's not and is belong to the Aztec's mythology.

Magus is right, the japanese name of ho-oh, houou, means Phoenix in Japanese. Some information maybe useful: In Chinese mythology, Phoenix is a big bird with a Chicken head, a swallow chin, a snake neck, a turtle back, a fish tail, has a Rainbow colour, is of 6 chinese feet high (approx. 1.4 m). The reason to give this information is that japanese culture originates from chinese culture, thus our chinese shares many identical (or similar) mythologies or legends

And the pokemon ho-oh does have a chicken head and has a rainbow colour

I realized something...... The Pokedex says that Mew is shy and turns invisible when people are near...But in the Anime the first movie when Mew vs. Mewtwo...Mew is playful and joyful!(Like me!) :D How can a Pokemon have a mood swing? :?

If I remember correctly, Mew was alone in the first part of the movie when it was happy and cheerful. (Omg, it's been years since I've seen that movie... I have to see if they have it at Gamestop!!)

The name Gardevoir is thought to originate from the words garde, the French term to care and look over, and voir, French to watch. It may also be a portmanteau of the words guard and devoir, which is French for duty or "to have", so it could mean "duty to guard" or "it has to guard". That may refer to the fact that Gardevoir will protect its trainer no matter what, even if it has to risk its own life.

Read pokedex, it can make itself invisible at will, and it's legendary, it can live forever.

It's a playful pokemon, and only tough when it has to be, like when Mewtwo tries to take over the world. It's shy because people try to catch it :roll:

Why can't everything with feet learn stomp?

And yes, Pokemon are based on real animals/myths/legends, not all of them though, that'd be freaky

lol Wikipedia. ^_^

Yeah, about Mew and Mewtwo... since MewTwo is the enhanced clone of Mew, shouldn't he have won? I mean... if Ash hadn't gotten turned to a rock, who would've won? (Nothing agains Mew. I like Mew, apart from it being PINK... of all colors... *shudder*...)

EDIT: This just struck me.

{nidorina} and {nidoqueen} can't breed, but {nidoran f} can... Which screws up Nidoqueen's Dex entry, and on MewTwo Returns, there are baby Nidoqueens.... *very, very confuzzled*

Pretty in Pink 8)

Mew = the rarest pokemon ever, excluding Celebi and Jirachi, because they come from the future and go to sleep for a thousand years. Mewtwo fights with power, Mew fights with it's (her?) heart... even though for mostly the whole battle mew and mewtwo were just bouncing off each other...
