Is Nintendo running out of new ideas for pokemon like the new pokemon Manafi makes them seem as if their pretty desperate.

Yes, I think they have, but they want more money. As plain as this sounds, even a 5-year-old would undertand my position: I think they got hold of the wheel and aren't willing to let go no matter what. As long as the income is enough they won't stop. But the pokemon are getting crappier each generation, and I hope this is the last Generation they come up with: I'm all for increasing and improving the franchise, but that doesn't necessarily mean more digim-- hum, pokemon.

This is what i dont get about all of you guys, what the heck is wrong with Manafi!? Its a better version of Chinchou or however you say its name. IMHO it's a very good pokemon.

I dont think they're running out of ideas, thanks to DS and its wireless capabilities I think there will be new ideas around the corner but if you mean running out of ideas for pokemon, all I say is...

NONE OF YOU HAVE SEEN ALL OF THEM NEW POKEMON SO IMO YOU CANT SAY THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF IDEAS UNTIL YOU HAVE SEEN ALL THE NEW POKEMON.

^_^ Thats what I say anyway...

Well, from what im seeing of the first 3 generations, 4th gen is set to be BIG... there are so many pokemon that dont evolve or could have cool baby versions in 1-3...

for example, lets take a look at a few that dont evolve so far:
Farfetch'd, likitung, tangela, Kangaskhan, pinsir, tauros, lapras, soodowoodo, Polited, Aipom, Yanma, girafarig, Dunspare, Gligar, Qwilfish, , Corsola, Stanler, Nosepass, Sableye, Mawile, Roselia, Torkoal, Spinda, Zangoose, Seviper, Lunatone, Solrock, Castform, Kecleon, Chimecho, Absol, Relicanth, Luvdisc

there are two there that i particularly despise because in my experience they are totally useless (save for a few easy exp from the AI players)....
Tangela and Luvdisc... dont you hate them too?
but look again... and think evolutionary chain. thats right... Tangela could become a huge lumbering beast with giant tentacles (grass version of Tentacruel?)... and while i cant really think of anything cool luvdisc could turn into at the moment, look at its shape, its got a fair bit of potential...

so i guess that the future of the pokemon series can definately be summed up with one word: Potential

it has the potential to become even bigger - turning lots of wasted and underused pokemon into championship front runners, creatively expanding the universe making for exciting new adventures, heaps more tactics... and generating billions of dollars more profit thus inadvertantly aiding the world economy...

but at the same time it also has the potential to become a steaming pile of waste.

Heh, from the start I thought that Zubat was a sign of Nintendo not having many ideas for Pokemon. But then again, they're basing them off of living things/Japanese legends, so...

ok maybe this is totally just me but it seems everyone compares the new generation pokemon to digimon all the time as though it is a bad thing :? well I think some of the digimon are pretty freakin cool and they look a lot more "mature" for all those out there who rant about pokemon looking to "childish". Maybe there is an underlying cause that I don't see but as for my own opinion, if you want cool and advanced pokes, your gonna get creatures that look like digimon because digimon always had that bit more of edge to them.

Well, I believe I relate with that post immensely. Yes, I think Pokemon creatures are becoming digimon. But I guess I should make it clear:

Digimon series is quite more mature than pokemon. There are issues mentioned in Digimon that Pokemon doesn't dare come close to. Now, there are also many Digimon, but when I say Pokemon is becoming a Digimon rip-off (it used to be the opposite, now I'm not so sure) I mean the babies and beginners. Sure, the more advanced evolutions in Digimon have a real badass side to them, but with that comes something Pokemon never meant to do in the first place: make them look destructive, threatening and imposing. Most Pokemon, no matter what their stage of evolution is, never go past looking "powerful"; some Digimon look like they could bring the Armageddon by yawning.

What is happening in this 4th generation, and following a trend that started in the 3rd, is that many pokemon are ridiculously cute, much like the baby-form of Digimon. Those are just crap.

Now, I wouldn't mind if a Pokemon looked like Beelzemon or Wargreymon, but that's not what the show is about. As close as the two series are, the art and the concept of the two shows is supposed to be different; but with baby Digimon-style Pokemon popping out all of a sudden, that line is fading, and that's what I dislike about these new pokemon. Even the legendaries, on a side note, look weak.

Please, note this is a personal opinion; you don't have to agree with it, not even respect it if you don't feel like it, but don't flame me please.

Digimon...? I remember that...I'd like to see a Pokemon resembling Halsemon, but that's a different matter ^_^

Basically, what Blackwind and miss-lanette said goes for me as well...I recall reading a thread on Psypoke a while back, and someone said that Blaziken looks strangely like a Digimon (Can't...remember...name...>_<)

Actually, I can honestly say no. The reason I say this is that, I remember right when the Metallics Generations was just about to take place in Japan. I was reading about the actual crew that works on the Pokemon franchise, and they said they had originally came up with around seven hundred and some odd Pokemon. They voted it down to the original 150 we know today. What's fun to know about is that a single guy came up with Mew after the original 150 had been picked for a good while. I believe that magazine I was reading was an issue of Nintendo Power. As a matter of fact, I have that exact magazine somewhere around here. I'll go find it and type out the article.

Well, Imo is that they try too hard and then stop. Some pokemon look like alot of thought has been put into them, and others *lack* that same creativeness, so I'd say no overall

Yeah. Blaziken looks like a lot of thought was put into it. Something like Tamanta-er........no.
For example, Rayquaza looks like it was abandoned at the last minute to me. It would have been a good Pokemon, but to me, they look like Nintendo "forgot" the legs. Most dragons (serpent like) that I've seen, they have back legs, however puny.

Hm... well actually I think 'Quaza is just fine; it's a "Long" dragon ("Long" as in Chinese serpent dragon, not lengthy. Does this word even exist?...) much like Gyarados or Milotic. Well, Milotic may be a different affair, but take Dragonair or Gyarados as examples, the lack of legs was intentional.

Some Pokemon had too much thought put into them. They aren't natural anymore. Take Buizeru, Hariyama (sp?), Lucario, man, too many. Digimon failed at making the creatures look natural, and pokemon excelled at that, but with more and more ideas being used it becomes impossible to draw new creatures without making them look too fantastic. IMO.

Ugh...My mom packed the NPs up and put them in our storage building. I'll have to figure out what box it is in. Besides that, I was thinking about how people are saying that the Pokemon are looking more 'Mature'. The reason behind this is marketing; the people who were playing when they were young grew older and their taste changed. At least that's what I think.

Yes, if you've read the Dragonology books then I'm pretty sure you know what you're talking about. Only issue is what Gardevoir~ said: It should have back legs. All dragons in the books (Apart from lindworms (Who have forelegs only) and Wyverns, who have no limbs except for wings) have rear legs.

Ah, that gave me the idea, Rayquaza could be a Lindworm...

And the last bit of Iwaku's post is what I'm thinking. I hope the Anime goes from half-kiddy to mature-ish...

The anime is not as mature as the games - there are some pretty sinister things that go on in games. This includes the story of the cubone orphaned because its mother was killed by team rocket - I don't recall any death being dealt with in the anime (although I could be quite wrong).

As for Nintendo running out of ideas, I'm starting to worry that they are, because the quality of pokemon is deteriorating. If they had new ideas, they surely wouldn't just be coming up with the pre-evoloutions of current pokemon - I really like Sudowoodo, but having that awful baby puts me off. I really hope they don't run out of ideas because then they'll stop making games, and I don't want that to happen! On the other hand, as has already been said, there have only been a few pokemon revealed from the new generation and we should really wait for the rest before passing judgement.

One thing I really like, however are the interesting pokemon that don't evolve normally, like Shedinja and Feebas, so I hope some of the new pokemon are llike that.

I am sorry but the 4th generation of Pokemon isnt going to suck because they are coming out with some decent ones they will show us, those arent the only ones they are working on and personally I thought that the 2nd generation was the only generation I thought was anywhere near sucky(except for Pichu {pichu} )

And did you know that there are like ten types of different dragons (in the Uk dragons (the original ones) is like we imagine them legs fire breathing and big wings but how are dragongs in...chinese cultures they have no legs, no wings but breathe fire (see MULAN for more reference) they are just like flying snakes...here in mexico we originally see them as flying snakes without breathing fire, but instead, bringing goods to pplz...

think about it...

Now...I read that pokemon had been trying to come out since 1992 and that there were more than 700 hundred pokemon...there hasn't been new pokemon...they were already made but they were constantly coming out, without making new ones...

If what you say is true then nintendo are just lazy.
All they have to do is think of a story and get gamefreak to make the game. This means that nintendo are definetly out of ideas:!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
