Post subject:  Why do you reset?

As the title suggests, why do you reset your game(s)? Boredom, new experiences, new legendaries, new strategies or some other reason? Why do you start over? Did you mess up, or are you looking for something new?

I have one of each Cartridge R/S/E and LG/FR. My Sapphire has my 382 Pokedex on it, so I'll probably never reset that one, but I've reset on each of the other cartridges at least once (and I've reset Ruby about 20 times).

I reset to farm items, mostly. I don't own a Gameshark and I'm wary of using one anyhow because I've heard they can corrupt your save game. So I reset to get the TM's you can't buy like Earthquake, Sludge Bomb and Toxic, and to get a Master Ball and stuff like that, and then I trade them over to a different cartridge before i start over. Every once in a while I'll grab another Groudon or a Mewtwo, but I mostly reset just for the items, not for the legendaries.

I reset so I can try out new teams, so I guess that falls under new experiences. I enjoy using as many different teams as possible, which probably explains why I've played Ruby/Sapphire about seven times :?

I very rarely reset, and only in extreme circumstances. For example, once (about four years ago) my little cousin came over and my mom told me to entertain him. I gave him my Yellow cartridge to play (which was at somewhere around Fushia City, so it

Its can be fun to run through the game with a new team, that's why I start over. But I will never reset my LeafGreen game. Shiney Mewtwo!!!

Well, I just reset like... The day before yesterday. This was mainly because I had deleted quite a bit of good moves on my Pokemon (e.g. Bulk Up, Protect). Mainly because I took a 6-month break in between Wattson and Flannery. In this six months is when I learned of EV's DV's, and that having Fire Blast, Sky Uppercut, Double Kick, and Blaze Kick on my Blaziken was stupid. I also got a much better start on this game, having Ruby and Sapphire allowed me to get all three starters in the beggining.

I reset when I finish the game so I can play it all over again! I like to play under heaps of different names, so that's another reason. Mainly just coz once I finish the Pokedex and become the Champion, there's nothing to do, so the cartridge is useless. And so, hey presto reset-oh! Brand new game awaits! Voila!

So far I have never reset any of my game's, The agian I haven't played through Crystal, Silver, Firered or Sapphire. I have all of these game's but I bought them just so I could say I had them.

I may reset my Leafgreen though, I used the Rare candy code to level up all my pokemon. :?

I restarted cuz I accidentally used my Master Ball on a level 13 Mawile. :D

And I hadn't caught Rayquaza (now I have no idea why I wanted it other than for the Pokedex), and how my party except for Blaziken sucked hard.

well, usually I restart when I get bored...then I get the urge to play again, so I reset the game I had before I got bored, and start anew.

Just a little thought, you mention you are afraid of using a gameshark for fear of losing saved game data, so as a result... you start a new file... and that works out better how???

Anyways I reset to test all the starters and new pokemon teams seeing as I only have one other friend who plays the game.

RBY - Wont reset red due to it haveing 6 LEGIT 100s, Blue reset all the time, Yellow has 100 Blastoise, Charizard, Venusaur, Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Pidgeot. At the time I was ovsessed with the cartoon.

GSC - Used glithc to get all 3 starters on GS, did ok on both so wont reset. I don't like crystal so i reset it all the time just to keep getting dogs and items.

RSE - Reset Ruby and Saph all the time, only keep my new Emerald seeing as you can get all the legendaries on it.

PD - Have both versions, 2 of diamond however ( Don't ask lol ) One diamond is going to be competitive, and one was my begginer version. My Pearl is my current competitive game but I prefer diamond more. I reset my pearl roughly 3 times already and my diamond once.

I reseted my Sapphire 4 times for obtaining the other 2 starters (I trade the starters to my brother so we both get their Dex data), for obtaining Mago and Wiki berries (I only got Mago), for Master balls, more legendaries, some TMs and for trading Sapphire exclusive decorations to my brother's Ruby.

i'll have to admit, I've never reset a game out of choice. My Yellow got corrupted and reset itself once when I was trading my last few Pokemon over to it to complete the dex. I still haven't completed it and this was years ago.

I reset my very first Red game because Stadium64 was coming out and I realized that the team I had on it was pretty broken (lol understatement), so I wanted to raise my Pokémon "right".
My Blue game has gotten reset so many times. I lost count after 15. No rhyme or reason, just felt like restarting it.
Yellow has never been reset, because I actually managed a team I liked the first time through. I still need to get Mewtwo on it though, 9_9

Gold got the same treatment as Blue, although I don't even remember if I have my Gold cart anymore. I freakin' LOST my Silver game (due to a bad game battery) and haven't bothered to restart it since... Still have my Crystal game.

So far I've only restarted Sapphire once, no restarts on R/E. Same with FR.

Normally I restart because I see what I'm doing with my team and realize I'm being an idiot, so I start over in hopes of not making the same mistakes twice. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't, :/ I *hope* to never restart my Diamond game...mostly because I have no where to port all of my Pokémon to if I did want to restart.

Lol, similar story with me. I was trying to catch a chansey on my Pearl, and i had already lost 1, so it took me another hour to find 1, and i had like 1 hit away from being catchable, and i just happened to get a critical hit at the worst time ever, killing the chansey that i had spent over an hour to get. :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:

I threw my ds across the room, i threw it so hard it ricoshayed off of a pillow and flew into a cabinet door.

Boy was my mom pissed. Not a scratch on my ds tho

lol I'm constantly reseting. Mainly becuase my attention span is so low and I get bored with it after I beat the Elite 4. That, and I have a gameshark so I like to train any pokemon i can, unfortunately it only works on LG...dunno why...but FR and Sapphire won't take it...and my Ruby got stolen. Other than that, I reset constantly. I havn't even had Diamond that long and I'm on my 4th file.

Most times I start over my game because I'm bored.Other times its about wanting to do something new like using a starter that I haven't chosen before.

My first pkmn game was Ruby that i got since my friend had got saph and there was the whole trading thing. now, it came with a lvl98 sceptcile that i gave to my friend eventualy. He beat the E4 by the time i got past the second gym (he was stuck on it before i'd got the game) so i won through with just my Scept and a Crobat. now i have like 350 odd pokes caught on that dex... i got fire red seeing as my friends little bro had a japanese (a baddly dubbed one that most of the npcs always said 'Team rocket are :censored: ) Leaf green so i got Fire Red to finish the set, i'd always be resetting fire red after the islands so i'd have 6 master balls, 3 sets of the legendary Birds and 3 Mewtwo. I then got emerald that i'm playing through aiming for the Water starter from g/c/s ( i'd played it through for the fire starter and i'd got the grass starter from another friend whom i'd gave a mewtwo for his Raquazza that he hadn't caught who happened to have Stadium). But now i'll be getting this so i can offer trades for the grass/fire starters for the wifi once i get my little magic adapter cable (as long as it takes to whip up £10 to top off my total) So, things are good, just have to finish the Sinnoh dex to a standard that matches Ruby.

When I had fr/lg I reset to get all the possible pokemon I could get, then when I got ruby and sapphire I did the same thing and then when I got emerald I reset 3 times so that I could get the 3 starter pokemon from the professor.
