I've hidden the secret really well; the only person to tease me for liking Pokemon is my own sister! (Just imagine, my own sister! I'd just hope she'd get up from watching TV and read this.) Anyways, when RS came out, ROMs of it were very popular in my school; they were what most people did during Computer class. (In my school, Computer class is the class for doing whatever you want in the computer except for what the teacher told you. =P)

My point is, Pokemon didn't lose its popularity in Mexico as soon as in the US or the UK, so I didn't have as much suffering as you guys say you do. Actually, I've had friends that play it, or at least did about a year ago.

As I'm writing this, I wonder why I keep it a secret...

As for the racism part, I think people just flame and dislike things they don't really understand. Thanks to a really stupid comment of our dear Mr. President, Mexico has been labeled as racist. An I-don't-know-how-many years old Mexican comic character, a monkey called "Mem

This is SO right. I like Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh! and lots of other "gay" stuff and if anyone at school knew, I'd be the dorkiest weirdo orca loving person there. I bet lots of people at school secretly have the same problem though...

I have now read what most all of you said and I agree 100 twenty million percent. The TRUTH is we aren't the stupid ones. We are the more intelligent ones. The way we play pokemon attracts intellectual minds, as I am and many of you are also. The stupid people are the ones who mock pokemon and call it gay and idiotic. The Pokemon games really do take tons of wit if you want to come out on top with the best teams and strategies. Just look at EVs and DVs and all that. None of those jerks would even understand any of that! Ha ha ha!

Yes. And I think it's stupid. Most people say it's kiddish for a person my age to play it (16), but I always tell them back that they're not one to talk because badgering is kiddish even more so. I wish they'd leave us alone. But I've learned to cope with it. I'm not ashamed to play pokemon and if anyone tells me different they hear it.

I've replied to these threads time and time again. I've been a PKMN fan since i saw a review in a magazine about the 1st Pokemon stadium in Japan it saying that you can transfer them from your GB and train them there, that was around 96. So you can say I was a fan before the Craze, I bought my Pokemon Red Cartdrige the day it came out and about 2 week before i bought my first gameboy (waited for the Game boy color to be relased) and that was about the fall of 98 and i was 14-15 years old way before the Pokemon Craze. I found Psypoke shortly after.

Before i make this more of my bio i'll stop. In Highschool before the craze I was always know to be walking around playing my PKMN and playing with a couple of other people. Then the craze hit and everyone was playing PKMN so i was playing with more poeple ( I like this part) but no one really knew what they were doing so they were easy victems. After the craze I still had my GB (infact I think this is were I bought my GBA) and playing PKMN and I could see how the people moved on and then I only had about 3 PKMN buddies in a School of about 3k students. In art class I tried to incorparate PKMN as much as i could.

What im trying to get at is through it all i stuck with PKMN, and didnt care what other said, When people saw me with my gameboy they asked me what i was playing i would say pokemon, then was the same remark I always heard which was some form of "ewl, thats a kids game why your playing that" and then i had my replie pretty much down to a science " Because its not really a kids game...." and explain the type match up and stratedgies at the end i gain some respect from them.

last year while Im attending College, my bag has 2 PKMN figurines, about 5 PKMN buttons, my cellphone at a PKMN hanging off of it and I could always be seen with my GBA:SP and pokemon.

At the moment the games were coming out to fast for me to master them so im a little rusty, but you can find me waving my PKMN banner high in the air.

All in short why do you care what others think just do what you hear tells you and is fun for you.

At my school, there is none of this picking on others because of a game they play or group they belong to except the newer kids who still think that a pecking order is needed. There are social groups at my school but they are completely blended together. It is a rather large school, about 3000 students. When newer kids come into the school and try to establish that one group is superior to another group, the others inform that new person. "Those '[insert social group]' kids are my friends" is a commonly used line to the newer students.

The school isn't perfect because there are still bullies, they just mess with kids because they are bigger, not because "Jocks" beat on "geeks". The students at my school also aren't so quick to judge. They have seen my brother and I playing each other and they ask,"Isn't that a game for little kids?"

The game is intended for the young and the old. The young can get a kick out of the game design and relative easiness the game has. Older kids can get into the complexity of the game mechanics. My friends and I have started a sort of "second" pokemon craze. However, this craze is for strategy games in general. Pokemon is one that people choose play. They pick up card games and other Strategy RPGs. The teachers have noticed a difference in the students because we are applying strategic thinking to math, science, ect.

My point is that people need to stop making answers in their own minds and take the time to learn something before coming to a final judgement. Sadly, American's are lazy individuals save a select few who actually get inspired to actually accomplish something. You know who you are.

On the whole, "gay" being used to describe something uncool. Neutral and I use that word to describe things all the time. Neutral has given it a second thought and he sure as heck isn't offened when either myself or any of our friends use it around him. It is because he KNOWS where are hearts are and what we are trying to get across. That word is a summary of multple words we could use to describe something. This applies for all profanities. A word is a word and it can only cause damage to one's feelings if one give the word too much power without thinking. Racial Slurs making people look like complete retards however because those words don't hurt people's feelings so much as they are used to trigger the intended person to live up to the name. My calling someone a racial slur you are tempting them to prove you right. And when they don't turn around to knock you out, then you look like an ignorant retard who doesn't know anything about anything.

When you hear a profane word, rather than thinking,"That guy is an idiot and doesn't have any better words to say" think about this,"That guy just summed up a complex thought with a single word."

You're lucky. At least you have a sister to play with. And you have a Swellow too. I have no friends at all just because I like Pokemon, I'm very concerned with my school work, and I'm the only student in my entire high school of over 1,400 people to carry a laptop with me for taking down notes and other assignments. At home, I only have my parents, my teddy bear "Zeddy", and my Pikachu plush dolls to play with. It's so unfair!

No offense, but that kind of teasing is to be expected. Let's face it: pokemon is for kids. I play it knowing this, and I'm ready to accept the consequences, which includes getting picked on once in a while. A true fan will continue to like what they like no matter what people say. If you get kicked from their chat room, you get kicked. It's their chat room, after all, and they don't have to let everyone in.
I know this will probably start a fight, but I think people carry this tolerance thing way to far. In our society it's no longer okay to say "you're wrong." But the fact is other people don't have to like pokemon. It's the same with the "gay" thing. People say everyone should have the freedom to make decisions about their sexuality, but the same people so often deny others the freedom to believe that it's wrong. Accept your decision, and any social stigma that goes with it. Otherwise it's just hypocrisy.

This is 2005 and the world is plunging to it's death. The end is coming and all that does is bring hatred. Many times, parents get involved and teach their kids Pokemon is evil based on evolution and religion. This is where it started. As soon as Religious Fantaic Parents found out about it, they started up. Their children started hating it, and that spread to today, where Pokemon is just considered "childish". Well, the Anime is, but the games are a lot more sophisticated than many expect.

I went onto kryten2x4b's Blinkz site, and a friend came up behind me and stated, "Eww that's Pokemon!" (exact words). If I would have asked her why she said eww, I can assume she would be floundered and stutter for an answer.

Pokemon is simply an easy target for people like that. Not many people like it, and it's been bashed in the past, therefore kids today feel good about hurting others that like it. Pain is an energy source for them, God and love (love is for those who may not believe etc in God), is our energy source. I know that topic in the General Discussion about World War III. We may be fighting it now! So much hating and hurting, it's a surprise it hasn't gone into international tension. But that is beside the point.

Mathematics!

Inane Teens+Pokemon Bashing+hurt Pokemon lovers=Pain=energy for inane teens

It's simple, the world has fallen so low that this is what a happens all the time. I'll post more if I think of anything else.

Since when does pokemon-hating have anything to do with religion or evolution? There is no indication of any religion in pokemon, unless you're considering "pokegods" to be a religion, in which case... well, I'll refrain from commenting on that. Pokemon doesn't do much to promote the theory of evolution, either. From a purely scientific perspective, the term "evolution" isn't even used correctly in the Pokemon games, since (as you probably know) evolution affects species, not individuals. And the truth is, many religions nowadays, including Christianity, accept the theory of evolution alongside creationism.
Pokemon is childish. I admit that even as I love it. It's a story about a kid who goes on a fantastic adventure with his animal friends. There are cool parts of the story, sometimes it even gets a little dark, but in the end it's all presented in a manner children can enjoy. I still like it, but let's face it: how many of us will still be playing pokemon when we're 40? I think most people will look back on their poke-fanatic days and laugh.

Hey, I see no point to bring religous matters into pokemon affaris. Infact, Im aggainst all forms of organised religion... Organised Religion is evil... kinda liek a group of organised anarchists (which is silly, i know... but bear with me)

the crusades, Jesus of Nazarath's and so many others crucifiction and State sponsered terrorism all stem from organised religionous beliefs. Just look at early christian and muslim religous sects now! I mean, The thing behind priests being celebit all stemed from soem pope and his "many" brides, and one of them wouldn't father him a son... so he made it so that no one could have a wife (at least I think thats how it went) and look at the middle east, as another example... Isreal and Palistine.... they've been fighting for awhile now and havfe yet to come to a truce. Organised Religion is bad... just look through history and you'll see...

"Ultimate Power brings Ultimate Corruption"

Oh and Pokemaster2005, we are all going to be playign pokemon or typing on these boards at age forty...
